      As much as Persolaise's review wasn't enthusiastic, it has sold me your perfume 😊 Because he described scents that I usually look for - made of good stuff but not extremely "interesting". Those very original fragrances tire me, I like to smell them every now and then, but don't usually buy more than a sample. So thanks Persolaise for your honest review, and Bon Parfumeur - see you at the checkout 😁

    Your honesty and brilliant translations of sensory experiences into words are why you are my favorite perfume critic. And the Jo Malone bit had me rolling 🤣

    I very much like 302, 401, 701 and 901.. No problem remembering those (with my mind as well as nose:)
    You should definitely try a few more creations from this brand. They sell several very affordable discovery sets. It would be a blast if you could cast your final judgment over those, pinpointing the "worthy ones". Perhaps there are (at least) a few hidden gems in there.

      @@PersolaiseThank You for your kind reply!
      Bon Parfumeur fragrances are often of simple(r) profile, but clean, suprisingly budget-friendly & (at least to me) utterly "wearable" (apart from fruity ones - they seem like a weak effort)
      On their UK store-front site they sell set of five pick&chose 2ml testers. It would be a delight to see Your (as always unapologetically frank, witty, knowledgable, sophisticated while enterteining) review of some of their fragrances, pointing out winners (provided there are to be found:), while furrowing eybrows and shruging shoulders on the rest (that fail to pass the test)
      P.S.: 001 (orange blossom, neroli), 004 (gin-tonic), 106 (rose-vanilla), 303 (benzoin, amber) and YMC (mandarin, woody) are also quite nice..

    Histoires de Parfums' naming scheme leaves me just as cold b/c I simply can't remember them, but I like some of their work a lot. I can't say after watching your video I'll be running out to smell any of these, not to mention this is the first time I am hearing about the brand. On to watching your next video in today's series!!

    • @LiaAndrews

      I agree. Maybe it is a right brain left brain thing but it much easier to remember a scent with poetic words than numbers. Chanel is the only one who gets a pass 😅

    • @Persolaise
      @Persolaise  2 года назад +1

      Yes - good naming is such a tricky enterprise.
      Lia, I’m with you on Chanel, but even they lose me sometimes with their 1930s and 1950s. I see La Pausa had its number dropped at some point.

    I had sweet peas climbing elegantly on a fence in my garden one Spring and they were darling and smelled charming and would love to smell them in a perfume true to nature some day.

    I have smelled one with saffron and remember it as quite nice. I think it was a yellow one. Just didn’t last long on me (which is a general problem for me)

      Okay, thanks very much for that.

    • @bonparfumeur
      @bonparfumeur 2 года назад +1

      Hey Maudline, the yellow is from the fruity family ! Unfortunately, the staying power of the perfume depends on the skin type. A little tip to help the perfume stay on longer, put a little cream on the places where you put the perfume ... Have a nice day :)

    I briefly tested most of the Bon Parfumeur line in a store and 402 was the only that stood out for me as it indeed reminded me of Plum Japonais. Since I like Plum Japonais a lot but not enough to splurge on a bottle, I got the 402 and I'm pretty happy about it, even though it's a very simplified version of the Tom Ford one.
    I remember however being unimpressed by the rest of the lineup. I thought that Bon Parfumeur seems to be aimed the people who aren't really into fragrance and are not accustomed to the more original niche creations but want to be more alternative or original and do not want a perfume from a mainstream designer brand. And since most people like what they already know it kind of makes sense for them to make fragrances that resemble ones that already exist and keep them simple, easy to understand for inexperienced noses but give them more of a niche packaging. I think there might be a market for that, but I personally am not that interested in smelling any more of them and I'd rather test regular mainstream releases.

      On the strength of what I've sniffed, I'd totally agree.

      I'm glad you like the 402 fragrance, a sweet one! Bon Parfumeur wants to be an artisanal perfumery, made in France with natural ingredients. Unique, unisex fragrances that can be combined with each other thanks to Mix&Match.

    Received 602 as part of a Yuniqu subscription. Persolaise summed it up, bland. Too masculine for me, pleasant, but uninspiring, and life is too short to wear uninspiring fragrances.
