When you first start these movements it's difficult to coordinate your left and right sides. It shows how disconnected we've become from this fundamental movement pattern.

Man, this part that starts at 10:36 is sick. The mix of the video game style music with you both showing off and also failing hard but pushing past is amazing. I need more of that stuff on RUclips and in my life.
I used to take Capoeira Angola lessons from an Angolero from Salvador. He used a lot of what he called animal walks as part of the conditioning process. He could shoot across the room at lightning speed using a lizard crawling motion, whilst keeping his hips close to the ground throughout; it was amazing to see! There was a camel walk, which was on all fours, with legs straight and both heels touching the ground - that was pretty painful; and also, a chicken walk which was a kind of walking deep squat done at speed. The warm-ups were tougher than full blown training sessions I've done elsewhere!
I've been reading your book and started a hybrid bodybuilding/functional routine. I feel so much stronger and the mobility in my hips and shoulders has improved massively.
Animal crawls are great for getting kids exercising as well, especially in lockdown. There’s a decent amount of follow along videos on RUclips, we do them in the front room. Turn it in to a competition, who can do the best bear crawl and see how hard they try
@@chrisofrays there’s one channel we use, if you search ‘kids marvel workout videos’ there’s avengers, black panther, Capt America videos that mine like. For animal walks, we always use this video: ruclips.net/video/DpgKyq3WCuw/видео.html
Yesssss It’s a great exercise for overall wellness. I’ve doing this type of training for more than 15 years as part of preparation for outdoors and site-specific performing arts pieces.
Unfortunately modern society has been brainwashed to believe this type of training is to unconventional and weird. The reductionist nature of modern fitness has a lot to blame for this. Much easier for the profit driven modern fitness industry to make money from monotonous and easier to perform gym exercise than it is from more complex natural movement compound exercise as shown here. It is this type of exercise that is going to give you better and more sustainable results in the long run. So don't worry about what others think and get out there and do it if your interested in it you won't regret it and you will enjoy it especially as you get better at it. As you get better at it you will actually get positive reactions from passes by that are curious to checkout what your doing and allows you to strike up an interesting conversation with those interested to know more this is what I find with my training outside in parks, natural areas etc!
Me here teaching a Parkour class Before this Video: "Yeah, crawls are a nice warmup, might be good for one or two laps of the floor to warm up the shoulders and all that jazz" After this Video: "Lads ! starting from today we're doing 30 minutes of Quadruped Movement every session ! Bear Walks, Bear Crawls, Lizard Crawls, blindfolded obstacle course while crawling... then backwards !"
I can attest to how effective the lizard walk is. I started using it as a punishment in my own training with alot of added weight. I do it as a warmup and cool down with fully loaded gear on. It definitely helps with endurance and helps with cardio gains. Very important in tactical training
Actual gear or a weighted vest? I could do either, but worried about injury with adding weight to movement like this. How long did you do it with bodyweight only at first? I was so awkward while trying this, adding weight sounded impossible
I did some crawl work the other day on a sand incline at the beach. I usually only use it for a sprint routine. Crawling back down the incline gave an immediate burn to my quads. My shoulders were fine. Over the next couple of days I was able to do some releasing in my lower back that I haven't been able to get at for a longtime. Given the reaction from my quads it's probably reasonable to assume the crawling had something to do with the releases as well. I like bang-for-buck, dynamic, full body workouts, and the crawling wasn't a drag on my sprints so I'll be doing more of it to help with endurance. Cheers Adam.
I am really enjoying your videos, Mr bioneer. I just bought one of your ebooks last night and I'm working on shifting my perspective on working out and fitness from a more boring bodybuilding approach to a super functional training approach. Cheers from your bro in the Southeastern US.
You really got me with the 'why do I have to only do exercises that other people understand and find acceptable' even the idea of doing this in a forest or something makes me feel embarrassed but I will happily run through the streets, and I don't like that
Just awesome. I started crawling 2 weeks ago before I saw this video, i'm for sure going to do it more now. You were very informative about the benefits and it makes so much sense
I wonder, i heard that building muscle help losing weight, since muscle burns more calories, but i don't know if it was referring to hypertrophy or strenght.
I am so glad you include the outtakes at the end of your videos because it shows that you're not perfect and sometimes it is very difficult to perform some of the movements you do. Everything you do in your videos looks perfect until we see what really happened before it got edited out of the video. At the end of your video, it's good to see you lose your balance or slightly hurt yourself so that if I mess up too, I'll know that if it happens to me, it can happen to you too. When I first graduated from high school, I washed residential and commercial windows for about 6 months before going to college. I had to lift ladders all day and use both arms to soap up windows and squeegee them off. The strongest I've ever been in my life was after that six months. There was something about doing natural movements that really activated all of my muscles (as opposed to regular bench press, etc. exercises).
Because the gym is not primarily about strength, it's about hypertrophy through muscle isolation exercises rather than having the whole body working together. People often forget that
One of the greatest series ever. Great information ,clearly explained and WOW you know a lot about how the human body works. This series is part of the bedrock of my training!
Bioneer, do you think you could put together like a beginner, intermediate, and advanced workout routine for these quadrupedal movements? That would be a huge help for those of us who don't know exactly where or how to start.
Actually a pretty useful exercise. Bit strange to purposely do it, but at one time or another in our lives, everyone will have to crawl somewhere. Getting under a fence, avoiding something or someone or fixing a pipe under a sink.👍
That's kinda of exercise is one of the reasons to a have a preference to treine in my house instead of the gym. The only people that gonna call me a weirdo for crawling around are my parents 😂.
Yeah I dont go to the gym because you gave to pay money for basically getting musclere and bulky which makes you heavier and not as fast as someone who exercises in the forest or something like that
@@themaster1147 For me the freedom is a key factory for me to have that preference. A guy who have "home gym"or something like that can workout even naked if he want to😄. On another hand,in the gym you need tho share the equipment, deal with people, some of the pretty inconveniente(some times even the instructor),some sexual harassment and etc. Of course it's depends to gym to gym,soo if you gona train on a gym, choose wisely,or your gonna have a hard time try to do a thing that's suppose tho be healthy.

a bit late but a 4 pack is genetic! people are born with 4packs 6 packs etc etc. u cant change how many abs you have and its not indicative to the strength of your core. Arnold Schwarzenegger had a 4 pack and hes probably worked his core harder than 99% of people with 6 packs

Yaeh. I just started those movements some weeks ago. It is much more fun than just pulling or pushing weights. It enhances strength, endurance, total mobility and creativity. I added climbing trees as well, so I learn to listen to my feelings when it is too high (fear) and push the limit just a little bit every time being of course aware that it can end deadly and it's up to me to avoid that ;-)
There was a year where I trained only bear crawls and hill sprints. I was very strong and lost no repetitions on bodyweight exercises when I checked them.
This is something truly new to me. The narrative adds a lot, but even with the sound off you can see how these movements will have a big impact. I'd love to get some minimal shoe recommendations. Cheers
Thanks for mentioning visual spatial processing and cognition in relation to movement. Current thinking is that they are built upon motor skills and vision's primary purpose is to guide movement. Cross patterning is also an important concept in development.

Love it. Worked that lizard crawl into my last futbol training circuit. I train 15 year old boys through natural landscapes, aboriginal sprint recovery, and oh yeah... small pickup style street ball. Love your stuff, always referring to it.
I also play football.
Just curious what this kind of training can do to a football player..🤔
This is sensational stuff. Not only are there tremendous long term effects on the body, it's gonna reduce depression, etc. Millions of people all over the world need this. Cheerio!

Adults: No, you walk

I think the same too. He is so amazing yet not as famous.
Facts!!!! Like this is a real strength training even if weights aren’t a priority for strength. Awesome channel
If it's popular its profane. Everyone is doing something? Probably absolutely stupid. The most listened to music is generally garbage. Best fitness channel wont have the most views. Hope this makes sense to the bioneerZ people's.
@@daltondammthebabe popular doesn't mean bad

everyone does squats
everyone does pullups
and there's nothing that wrong with any of those movements. the goal of channels like this one would be to share information and teach everyone to break out of our self imposed, rigid structured workouts. and everyone DOES crawl, they just stop crawling as they get older, so the bioneer is simply reminding us to do what we've already been doing from infancy. he's not sharing secrets or hidden knowledge, he's teaching us very simple principles that already exist in nature.
It doesnt look like he focuses so much on marketing.
You should add bloopers more often, it's important for people to see that even the people that train a lot still make mistakes.

This channel is definitely underrated

One of the toughest exercises, the bear crawl. Hands down!
Ooh, that's very punny! I'm down with that.

Yesssss It’s a great exercise for overall wellness. I’ve doing this type of training for more than 15 years as part of preparation for outdoors and site-specific performing arts pieces.
You know it's a good video when every single comment is humorous yet totally supportive. I'm going to be trying this asap
Phenomenal message, I frequently get strange looks for some training that I’m limited to doing outside, I wish the world didn’t think this way
I can't even take a walk with a weighted vest without getting those looks
Me here teaching a Parkour class
Before this Video: "Yeah, crawls are a nice warmup, might be good for one or two laps of the floor to warm up the shoulders and all that jazz"
After this Video: "Lads ! starting from today we're doing 30 minutes of Quadruped Movement every session !

I am so glad you include the outtakes at the end of your videos because it shows that you're not perfect and sometimes it is very difficult to perform some of the movements you do. Everything you do in your videos looks perfect until we see what really happened before it got edited out of the video. I'm gonna start crawling now, thanks for the knowledge as always
People often forget that
You don't get enough credit. Truly appreciate what you do for us.
Sorry for the english, I not a native.
Yeah I dont go to the gym because you gave to pay money for basically getting musclere and bulky which makes you heavier and not as fast as someone who exercises in the forest or something like that
Bioneer is pretty bulky and still fast tho
@@themaster1147 For me the freedom is a key factory for me to have that preference.
A guy who have "home gym"or something like that can workout even naked if he want to😄.
On another hand,in the gym you need tho share the equipment, deal with people, some of the pretty inconveniente(some times even the instructor),some sexual harassment and etc.
Of course it's depends to gym to gym,soo if you gona train on a gym, choose wisely,or your gonna have a hard time try to do a thing that's suppose tho be healthy.
Surely your parents, of all people, have seen you crawl before :-)
As someone tired of the gym I am so excited for all these new workouts thank you

Who knew all those nights I was puking my guts out (great core work btw) I was also training while crawling to the toilet...
This is exactly what unlocked your symbiote strength
Great core work xD
Oh my gosh, I knew that this was why I can't gain weight. I am physically disabled and crawl to get around my home. Obliques are chiseled, but still have only a 4 pack!
a bit late but a 4 pack is genetic! people are born with 4packs 6 packs etc etc. u cant change how many abs you have and its not indicative to the strength of your core. Arnold Schwarzenegger had a 4 pack and hes probably worked his core harder than 99% of people with 6 packs
Keep going brother 💪
