Had been doing it for years and one of my new roommates got curious enough to grab it while I was at work and take it to the track. lol, he couldn't even get back home! In my own experience it's actually more difficult to crawl inside in a small space than out in an open field. I can barely finish 5 minutes of crawl around the interior of my house (might be because of the furnitures blocking my way as i have to maneuver a bit everytime i come across one) but i can crawl for the whole 15 minutes out in a football field. Try it yourself. If you feel embarassed go out in the woods.

Jesus Christ what an idiotic comment. You are limited in your time. And you don't have unlimited motivation either. Most people have to earn their own money and organize their own lives. They can only do so much for their fitness. The exercises for which they have time should then be effective and efficient. And I think people should orient themselves on actual research rather than someone's fanciful imagination. Pull Ups work. Push Ups work. Biceps Curls work. Whether the "bear crawl" is efficient is questionable.

I used to take Capoeira Angola lessons from an Angolero from Salvador. He used a lot of what he called animal walks as part of the conditioning process. He could shoot across the room at lightning speed using a lizard crawling motion, whilst keeping his hips close to the ground throughout; it was amazing to see! There was a camel walk, which was on all fours, with legs straight and both heels touching the ground - that was pretty painful; and also, a chicken walk which was a kind of walking deep squat done at speed. The warm-ups were tougher than full blown training sessions I've done elsewhere!

Unfortunately modern society has been brainwashed to believe this type of training is to unconventional and weird. The reductionist nature of modern fitness has a lot to blame for this. Much easier for the profit driven modern fitness industry to make money from monotonous and easier to perform gym exercise than it is from more complex natural movement compound exercise as shown here. It is this type of exercise that is going to give you better and more sustainable results in the long run. So don't worry about what others think and get out there and do it if your interested in it you won't regret it and you will enjoy it especially as you get better at it. As you get better at it you will actually get positive reactions from passes by that are curious to checkout what your doing and allows you to strike up an interesting conversation with those interested to know more this is what I find with my training outside in parks, natural areas etc!

I did some crawl work the other day on a sand incline at the beach. I usually only use it for a sprint routine. Crawling back down the incline gave an immediate burn to my quads. My shoulders were fine. Over the next couple of days I was able to do some releasing in my lower back that I haven't been able to get at for a longtime.
Given the reaction from my quads it's probably reasonable to assume the crawling had something to do with the releases as well. I like bang-for-buck, dynamic, full body workouts, and the crawling wasn't a drag on my sprints so I'll be doing more of it to help with endurance. Cheers Adam.

This is something truly new to me. The narrative adds a lot, but even with the sound off you can see how these movements will have a big impact. I'd love to get some minimal shoe recommendations. Cheers

Thanks for mentioning visual spatial processing and cognition in relation to movement. Current thinking is that they are built upon motor skills and vision's primary purpose is to guide movement. Cross patterning is also an important concept in development.

Thanks for this video. This is something I’ve been looking for. I’ve been doing some animal movements as a bit of a warm up recently but didn’t even think of trying on a trail. I can imagine how great a workout that would be. I’m sure I would get on someone’s RUclips channel for a laugh if they saw me crawling around like an animal 😂

I recently found this channel and love the newest book (currently on chapter 6; wonderful read btw!) but the only thing I'm having trouble with is finding a proper way to incorporate these exercises into a new workout program. Any tips?
