This song original by Vitas, I am a Vitas's fan, in China may people use this song for competition in last 20 years, but only Dimash sings it the best, and Vitas not allow Dimash to sing his song anymore, any way I watch Dimash everyday though, Vitas doesn't have Dimash personality, very rare found beautiful person like Dimash, very kind and humble, thanks.
Frankly, I recently saw a video of Vitas on what appeared to be a Russian talk show and they showed a clip of Dimash’s Opera 2 performance. Vitas is one of the most foul mouthed jerks I have ever encountered. His casting aspersions at Dimash was truly pathetic!
Vitas is just like Lionel Richie.

He does not only HIT the high notes, he sustains that high notes with a great breath control and support. I mean he keeps that Eb6 !!!! Many female sopranos are practicing everyday to achieve the consistency of high E like him. wow.

But my all time favourite is the one in Daybreak (Bastau concert version). The camera comes back to him in time to see his head movements and face expressions.
In my mind, I call the song Heartbreak as well as Daybreak coz of the tragic story behind the song.

I have followed him for 3 years now, and I would say in terms of vocal ability to the unreal voice, the complete vocal training skills, many genres, many languages, all registers, vocal athlete, NO other vocalists can beat him now!
People may like many vocal tones from different singers, but talking vocal skills and the huge amount of complete many aspects voice training, he is the #1 so far!
He is pretty amazing. His musicianship is incredible too.

You should compare the 2019 Know with the Vocalise version of 2020. Interesting variants that occur vocally. Love is like a Dream has a good deal of colour as well.
The number one comment by vocal coachs is its flawless. Perfect pitch without auto tune. Etc. This little flub, if unintended, is acceptable. Welcome to Dimash

Dimash is always full of surprises.
I could not wait till you got to this song as it is Dimash being cheeky and having so much fun. His Dad was in the audience and surprised him. The moment he sees his Dad is so prescious. He runs to him gives him a hug and literally lifts him off the ground. Dimash is 6 foot 3 and loves to lift people up all the time. Then he asks his Dad if he sang well. So humble and never takes his talent for granted. I love his heart. Always willing to learn more and do his best every time.
For crazy runs you must must must check out the Diva Dance. It doesn’t get any more difo than that as for the movie an Alien sings it and was partially computerized. They thought no human could sing all of the parts......enter Dimash.

"Passione" is very dificult.
And I must say, you are the only reactor that ive seen say anything about that little flub on the D6 there at the end. Just goes to show even the best, and we all know Dimash is the best, have their moments. Great reaction as always.
Actually a few others mentioned it, but didn’t spend as much time on it.

I’ve noticed it, too, since I’ve watched the video more than a hundred times. I’m sure doing those high sustained notes will also be difficult for other seasoned singers that they will have little and big flubs everywhere lol. And this was a live performance.
Caleb Coles remarked on it as the note starting to get away from him & Dimash pulling it back in.
Absolutely! We are all allowed to have our moments, but that is the beauty of live performance. It happens that one time for us to enjoy and witness. (obviously now though everything is recorded so it is etched in video forever and ever ;) )

Hey Zoe😊 the Singer show where he's performing here is by invitation only for professional singers in China. Dimash was invited as a wildcard and the youngest at 22 (turned 23 during the 14wks of the show) and it is nothing like the usual talent shows we see on the Voice or X Got Talent. I Am Singer is a battle of the titans and has a more academic approach to presenting artists that requires contestants to meet a criteria each week e.g performing a traditional song from his/her province, or an original composition by the artist, or a contemp number, or a self-arranged song, a song in mandarin, etc..so its really a technique+talent competition on a different level. Earlier videos of a teenage Dimash show him singing opera2 live on kz tv without the faltering if that's what it was here. Another vocal coach Ceci Dover does comparative analyses of D's before/after performances of same songs, its amazing seeing the evolution of his vocal prowess and growth as an artist. Dimash effortlessly took it higher modulating an amazing three key changes, C6, C#6, D6(stacatto), Eb6. I won't make any song recommendations, because for me Dimash's singing is something that goes beyond high notes and crazy runs. It is the connection he makes with the listener that intrigues me the most personally. There's an extreme amount happening here on an emotional level for me when I listen to him. He makes a chord vibrate in me that I didn't even know existed. Often I sit there and listen within myself while I am listening to him and I am completely overwhelmed by the emotions that individual notes or sounds evoke in me, even (or especially) when he sings in Kazakh. I don't understand a single word, yet he picks me up on an emotional level.

Technically? I’d say Sinful Passion; Hello; Diva Dance; All By Myself (in every version, he does that bit differently. I would recommend the first one, the one from Singer 2017). The craziest high note: Unforgettable Day (the one at the Gakku concert). Impressive: Ogni Pietra.
Sinfull Passion or Daybreak. But for Daybreak read the story behind the song first and then watch the Bastau performance of it.

the little "crack" came because in those days doing vibrato he was moving his head up and down and maybe he thought that movement would have helped him doing vibrato better(he was too nervous) then he realised that movement was wrong for very hig notes(risk of crack) so he stopped doing it. his range is more than 6 oct.: F#1-D8. Stay safe
He performed it even better on another occasion, and then he was forbidden to ever perform it again. For runs, please watch All by Myself and Confessa and Diva Dance from the same show. I know many people will recommend the one from Bastau, but I prefer the Singer version, especially as it is coupled with Confessa and gives a much more complete experience. But if you ask me, most of his favorite songs are not about crazy runs or high notes. It's a pity that people only focus on those.

@@lkayh I can only guess that there are 2 possble reasons:
1. Dimash performed it better than the original singer and it made them angry.
2. The original singer's popularity was declining, and his producer thought to revive it and make people remember him again by creating a scandal.
Or perhaps both.
Anyway, he spoke very rudely about Dimash in the Russian speaking press at the time and accused him of being a thief, and threatened to sue him for breaking the copy right law, although in any case it was not Dimash's responsibility to take care of copy right, but of the producers of the Singer show. But they made it personal against Dimash.

Glad that competition happened and even if in China, it went on full globe. This world was never the same "after discovering Dimash" ;)
Try Know (New wavw) and Know (vocalised). There are fantastic runs in both versions.
If you want breathy notes, try his latest release called Amanat. It’s like a lullaby to his country. No runs or acrobatics, just an exquisitely performed song. Love your reaction to Opera Two. Dimash is so cheeky here.
I would also like to recommend "A thousand miles, a common dream", dedicated to Wuhan hospital, "Love is like a dream" written by Igor Krutoy special for Dimash's voice and "Ogni Pietra", performed in 2019 at the opening ceremony for the European Olympic Games. Honestly Zoe, any performance you choose, you can't go wrong. "Moadmoasele Hyde", "Vocalise", "Know" and so many more. I look forward to all your reactions. You are amazing 🙂

Hello, thanks for your professional reaction again. I'm happy you've find the way to Dimash's artistry. If we pass his technical vocal skills as a man singer, the second most impressive thing for me, is his universality
across the genres. The cherry on the top is his ability to transmit the emotions without understanding the language. This is harder to expirience during the first reaction, but I hope you have a time to listen Dimash again in privacy and experience the pure emotions alone.
The most technical advanced songs of him are Sinful Passion, Know and Passione, in my opinion.
Crazy runs... one of them (WOW!) you'll find in his Bastau version of Daybreak. There are others too, but this one is the one that first came into my mind.

As you saw, it's not the "insanely technical piece" you were expecting. It's more of an exhibition/novelty piece. While fun, it doesn't really give a vocal coach a lot to analyze. As Dimash's choice to perform this in the second episode of "I Am Singer", following the epic performance of "SOS", I like it for this competition format, though it's not in my playlist.
I still think it was a pretty insane song. SO many key changes ;)
He does actually literally that he comes out from all of his performances not satisfied with quite a lot of things like A LOT that we actually notice like quarter of them he's super critical of himself 👌🏻 and up till now though he's considered professional he still asks the opinions of his old teachers all the time after every live performance 👌🏻

No, my mouth has never gotten dry on stage. Then again, that's probably because I've never been on stage (unless you count my Jr. High School play) Your mouth gets dry because of nerves. We enter fight or flight under pressure and anxiety and one of the things it does is to produce less saliva. I know this because I just watched a body language video. It's one of the ways interrogators know when someone is being deceptive. Lying causes anxiety just like singing in front of thousands of people.
For impressive runs try Sinful Passion. I think I read that his run at the end is 23 seconds on one breath.
Best run: Sinful passion or Daybreak
Dont react to Unforgettable day (Gakku performance), because there is a mic dysfunction during his whistle tone. He shakes the mic and gets acoustic feedback. Many, even professional coaches, don't seem to notice this. Listen to New York version. Sings live, but music is from a tape.

That song was perfect to show Dimash’s personality. It’s the only song he sings that his expression doesn’t really match the lyrics. He was actually way too happy And playful for what the song was about, but he was just so happy because he knew he was going to give the audience such an awesome treat. They all knew very well what Vitas version was and Dimash knew he was going to blow vitas out of the water. It’s one of my favourites because it really shows that cheeky teasing side of Dimash. He has a smile that doesn’t just light up the room, it lights up a stadium
