So 7seas is a Vallejo native. He has a gL style. gL has roots in the Bay Area. Tach and Rsen started the crew in the Bay Area in 1992. The bay and LA connection. Tach from Sf Rsen from LA. Rsen mentored NatrL Dest & Tyboe! Giving all the writers from Vallejo a LA inspiration.
You should do a video on Rsen. He was the first to paint multiple train yards in the bay. Rsen started LSD in LA and GL in the Bay Area.
GL one of the best crews to come out the Bay Area.

Interesting take on this topic, thanks. SF was blowing up in the 90’s in part because there was a market for graff artists to get into galleries. There was a lot of creativity, and as you said people visited SF just to get up. Some crews are more into beef than others, it’s almost like it’s part of the sport. Other crews were collaborative. I always enjoyed when people came to visit, as long as they respected the rules. Crews would often collab, because we liked sharing techniques and skills. It was about advancing the form and putting SF on the map. It was a great time to be alive. ✌🏼

It don’t matter to me I’m in the LA graffiti scene and I hope all the SF writers get up and prosper in all aspects of life.
LA is spread out but its main disadvantage is the city being car centric.
Public transportation is also less frequent compared to SF so getting up in LA can be a challenge.
When I was a kid prob 2008 ish I remember seeing the saber rollers in sf. It confused me haha how did they get up there.

It was the 3 Dots they wrote after they're Graff that was initially an issue. But it turns out th3y left a legacy.
I can understand that from NorCals perspective, even though the 3 dots for the most part means "MI Vida Loca" to us and isn't necessarily a gang/varrio thing to us, although many people from a hood here does have it tatted, it's not restricted to only gangmembers as some others tatts are...it's always been just a Raza culture thing here. I say that to say it's not a tattoo or symbol that means "southerner" or "sureno",because you can get it inked etc n not be gangster like that on that aspect...just as long as the meaning is basically true to that individual life, nobody is gonna trip or hit you up in socal because of it like other tattoos do cause lol ...but since it just so happens to 3 dots though, I can see how Northerns perceive it a different way because of that, but the there being 3 dots is just a coincidence in that regard & isn't by design to reflect it.
So now to finally get to your comment on how some of the La writers were hitting it up alongside there ups, I'm sure at the the time in those early days in Sf they prob just hit it up without even truly thinking about it just because it's such an ingrained part of our culture over here as Chicanos . And the way dregs tell the story was pretty on spot on how the LA Graffiti Writers were more aggressive in the aspect where it kind of seems like it's like gang mentality, because being from here and growing up around the hood I'm going to other places in the country with other Graffiti Writers I do know Los Angeles is definitely different on that aspect on terms of graffiti as opposed to any other place I've ever witnessed in America. And it's not really to want to be a gangster pushing the certain size and whatnot issue, it's just the way we learn how carry ourselves in certain situations because there are so many different hoods what foos are straight gangbanging on on you hitting you upto to see if you bang, and if you don't but you're all scared showing weakness ... you're ded more likely to get punked & straight jacked for your shit and if your not scared but are acting a Lil too abrasively, coming at dude that seems sideways where your not showing a descent amount of respect....then one can possibly straight get fucked up on the spot let alone a possibility of getting stabbed or shot......& Like it or not, that's just the way it is here. It does affect everything in one form or another whether you're involved or not, it definitely has an impact on the culture lEspecially back in the early nineties when them cats were getting down most hoods here in LA did not like tigers and if you were caught slipping you're likely to get Stomp the f*** out if not killed, start getting blasted right where your painting at all because you're in somebody's neighborhood, final a lot of them cats from that area really conducted the crew and their name on a much more serious aspect Beyond painting itself . It's a little different here now on that aspect just cuz graffitis a lot more known an accepted so Taggers don't have to worry about the green light from the hoods like that anymore LOL not to mention that there was a number of tagging crews from the early 90s that have now straight up officially became a Varrio, & even some serious Graff writers that are also from a some very old well known gangs too. ...But as a Chicano that grew up in the LA area around many hardcore cholos & ones from different neighborhoods that are even I different counties , when it come to the 3 dots, it just simply means " MI Vida Loca" only & is not meant to mean or claim on is a southsider from the hood., here at least...unfortunately cant help how others may perceive other tribes gestures as well as mannerisms since it's a slightly foreign culture that has different customs than one's own.

Watching LA and SF gaff docs it seemed like Norcal took the graff culture seriously and kept it as traditional as possible compared to LA and socal cuz its tru that graff is like a gang mentality down here like most krews down here became hoods while other struggle to prosper cuz they're getting targeted by other krews and hood. And hoods down here have hella influence on the graff scene. No offence but most vatos from up north dont be gettin up if they do its dime a dozen most of them are usually just about their bizz. But down here most vatos started off as taggers or feel so proud of their hoods that they learn to get up. It all comes with problems and ik cuz im i writer and trying to keep it all about graff down here is almost impossible.

No one should be serious about graffiti. At least to me the main thing was about having fun and expressing yourself. I understand why writers act so serious but wish that energy could be channeled into elevating the art form.
