- With the run into the Winter downtime bearing down upon matters, the Bluebell ran their annual "Giants of Steam" Gala.
The event featured a varied line up, with no fewer than 4 locos in steam rostered over numerous workings; including both passenger and freight operations. This line up also consisted of two visiting locos - B12 8572 from the North Norfolk Railway, and the Great Central Railway's 8F 48624.
Locomotives:
LNER Holden Class B12 - 8572
Ex-LMS Stanier Class 8F - 48624
SR Maunsell Class S15 - 847
BR Standard Class 5MT - 73082 "Camelot"
Ex-SR Maunsell Q Class - 30541 (Non-operational on the day attended).
All footage filmed on Friday the 28th of October 2016. Авто/Мото
Excellent video! Wish I’d been there.
Cheers
Very well captured mate! Im attending tommorow, Loved the sound of 847. Thanks for posting. Matt
Good stuff! Nice to see a variety of different viewpoints, and some brisk editing.
Fantastic stuff Matty, I still don't know how you manage to film a whole gala video free hand and get footage like that! Cheers for joining me, look forward to the 12th!
847 took 48624's train in a quick turn round at the park so the 8 f could go on shed to be attended to by the Bluebell's steam fitter for a badly blowing firemans side piston rod gland. 48624 then took the 12.55 SP EG which should have been 847's train
Hats off to Horace for doing a fast remedial repair whilst being scalded by all the steam leaks to avoid the 8 f being failed for the rest of the day. New metallic packing is coming from the GCR for fitting on the Saturday, as the engine is being prepared.
Thanks for posting- 8F fireman
great video. looked like a good event looks like it was a good day weather wise.
Great film of my goods train, lovely day for it.
Certainly was! I'm glad you like the film.
I've just been there today!
Why Not? LNER
How and why did 847 end up swapping trains with 48624? Great video! I look forward to being there later today.
I'm going to answer this one as I happened to be here before TheSoutherner got back to you (sorry Matt) - the 8F was temporarily declared a failure about halfway through the day, in order for two issues to be dealt with - a troublesome injector feed and a heavily leaking cylinder gland. 847 was put on the 8F's set at Sheffield Park, and the 8F took over the S15's duties later in the day when it had been fixed.
See both VehicularBrit's response, and highdownmartin's comment. I can't really add to what they've said.
VehicularBrit thanks!
excellent video, it's sad to see these beautiful engines' potential being held back. I wonder when the engines last had a good hard run 🙁
Great Video and what editing software did you use?
Thank you! I use Serif MoviePlus X5.
