8:10 This mentality has always Irked me. I played MTG as my only TCG up until about 2 years ago when I sold out. I had a collection easily worth 5-7k. I have always held that Magic shouldn't cost an arm and a leg for cards. I didn't give a single flying f*ck if my collection became worthless overnight if it meant I could show up to a random game store and play legacy against people instead of having the "legacy looks cool but I can't afford it" conversation with people. I played Magic because I wanted to play Magic. Magic was made an actively worse game by the secondary market. At the end of matches I had the rule of Ill shake your hand unless you actively ruin the game for others. Which read usually as I'll shake your hand unless you are 1. a known cheater or 2. a financier who treats the game as an investment oppertunity.
Former YG player here: Do you feel that the primary or secondary market is where the arm and a leg comes in for your description? Because pack opening can obviously (and usually does) cost more than the secondary market, which is a strange irony in of itself.
@@nerdock4747the weird thing with MTG was the primary market made changes to it's pricing based on secondary market values while simultaneously trying to pretend it doesn't recognize the secondary market as a thing (to avoid possible gambling issues). This happened when they released a secret lair (a small collection of premium cards) that had fetch lands which are worth a lot on the secondary market. For some reason these secret lairs were priced higher than previous editions. People asked "doesn't this acknowledge the secondary market?" Which the makers of MTG firmly clamped their hands over their ears and pretended to not hear. I'm not sure if Yugioh had a simmilar thing but I think the secondary and primary markets are more entwined than most want to admit.

I’ve been playing naga make but with elementals, amalgams of the deep, whirlweaver and mistake are all nagas AND elementals. So you cheat mana with nagas then next turn cycle your deck after playing elementals to draw another full hand and burn oponnent down while they deal with your board
