@@jeremytanmagic great card trick. 👍 did you seen scam shools selfworking title card trick you Can screw up.. with no preparetion work every time too but how Think nobody know 👍
As a mathematician, seeing this trick really fascinated me. It doesn't look to complicated, but you're using the position of the cards. When the cards are flipped up in a certain position, it'll end up correctly. Then, by dealing the cards 2 at a time, you don't only switch the orientation, but also the position, keeping the correct layout of the cards. Then by having the rows eliminated, all you're doing is making sure the position of the card flips the exact way it needs to. It's a very complex principle, but such an elegant trick. Well done in finding this to whomever did it
This trick is sooo cool ... wow !!! Obviously with this procedure all sixteen cards are flipped or they are brought to the original orientation based on the final choice...meaning the step prior to that completes the orientation... the fact you ask everyone randomly whether or not to flip the cards on random bases, that makes it difficult to trace what is really going on...love this trick... definitely going to try learn this...
I thought of a really cool twist on this concept. Wasn't sure if it would work but it did. The idea is an oil and water routine. So i did it with 24 cards. 16 red and 8 black. Spread the 16 red face down then give the spectators the black cards. Just like in this version they put the black cards face up anywhere within the face down red cards. Do everything else exactly the same and at the end I did a 6 x 4 card matrix instead of a 4 x 4. Again, they choose which section to "fold" until the deck is complete. At the end all red cards are face up or down and all black cards are the opposite. You can say "see, oil and water dont mix" Not sure if this works with different numbers but I'm going to try it.
Unbelievable. Very interesting. Thank you so much. This is the best and easy card trick which I have ever seen, which could be performed in between any number of people and any number of times. ❤❤❤❤. I am from INDIA, (BHARAT). I'll definitely try this.
I love this! The first time I tried, it didn't work but then I watched you again carefully and it was the grid I'd got wrong! Important to lay 1st row left to right, 2nd row right to left, 3rd row left to right and 4th right to left - just in case anyone else made the same mistake as me! Thank you for this one!
Brillaint trick I love it! Only caveat is that at the last move, if a face down ace is on the top of the last pile you flip, there's no eay to know which way to spread them for the reveal. In a way it adds an extra bit to the trick as the audience tjinks youve messed up but then you can collect the cards and flip them, spread them again and prove then wrong!
Thanks for sharing Jeremy. Great trick!! On the last step, people wanted to have me flip from the middle of the grid and it didn't work. All flips need to come from outer edges. Thanks again.
If you're interested in really understanding, what each phase does, just do the whole trick with 16 cards face down. Phase1: Shuffling isn't changing , where the cards face Phase2: This alternates the cards (face up and face down) Phase3: This doesn't actually do a thing. It just makes the card switch place (with correct facing). Nice to see with 16 cards face down at the beginning Phase4: Alternates the cards back to the original orientation. Understandable when you start as described. Nice trick though and very deceptive, if you have 4 card in the stack facing the "wrong" direction. Thanks!
Just did that trick 5 times and it's awesome thanks for sharing. I started card magic with diodgy L+S and R+S decks but am learning the best magic tricks are the ones like this where there are no gaff cards, no dishonesty and you end up completely clean. Thanks again.
Just awesome, thx for that! First trick I learned. I am not quick with my fingers and once I know an illusion I lose interest, but this is real magic ;) Cheers mate
Unbelievable...I tried this several times with the 4 cards (I chose 4 aces) in various spots...even in a row without any cards separating them and it still worked. I thought if I put the 4 aces one after the other, it would finish in the same sequence..but it didn't...craziest trick I've seen.
I loved this trick so much bec I learned it a long time ago but in two different forms but made me can to make a mixture of the 2 trick that I have learned before
Glad you like it! Yeah I have seen and know of many variations. I like this one better because there are so many possibilities and everything looked so fair!
Excellent video. Well taught I like self working card tricks, this one especially because you can have lots of folks participating:my favorite type of performing!
I finally see a trick I can do myself. And now I am having troubles remembering all the following steps, shuffles, turn, coulomb's and ehh.... probably something else.. 😊
It's amazing. Useful fact, you can use this method with as many people as you want. The important thing is that the total number of the card you use, must be 4 * X, with X being the numbers of players. In other words, if 3 people are playing you can use 3*4 (12) cards in total, so add 9 cards to the 3 the players have chosen. And this works with as many people as you want!
I do similar trick with 20 cards. Bottom line of both ways…all the cards are flipped to their opposite starting orientation. Love this version and will add to my repertoire.
Hi jeremy, I did this a dozen times and still can't figure out how or why it works. You're right. It is a fantastic trick and simple to do. I'm going to teach it to my twenty four year old daughter who is learning a lot of magic tricks from you. She loves you. Glad to have you back from your cruise work.
Great trick! I know a similar one with 4 aces and 16 cards. The 4 aces should put face up into the 16 cards, and can shuffle optional (by audience as well). Do 2 pieces of columns of 10 -10 cards. ,,A" column and ,,B" column. One of them should turn. You, or audience can choose, which one. You have to do from the 2 columns one column so, that always one card from each columns, but it is arbritrary, which is the first one. So you can put together ABABAB, or BABABA. Now, you have to make 4 columns, but always should put 1 card in order of: ABCD-ABCD. (or DCBA-DCBA). Last step, you, or audience can choose a side column. (A or D). According the choosed side you should turn the choosed cards on the top of next column. This column with 8 cards should turn on the top of the next column, and once again the turned12 cards on to the last colunm. So, if choosed column is A, you should put A turned on B. Than you should put turned AB on the top of C. And last step you should put the turned ABC on to the top of D. And we will get only the 4 aces faced down. Or 4 aces face up, depending on, but always get the starting position back. Just only the 4 aces are in separate direction.
New subscriber here. I am having difficulties with the “first chaotic part” where you said face down but actually ace of hearts was facing up and i keep messing up. Can you explain a little bit about the first chaotic part ? Thanks in advance
Hi Jeremy, nice to see you back doing some tutorials, always enjoy watching these, thanks for the trick can’t wait to try this on some of my co-worker, thanks again 🤙🏼👍🏼🤙🏼👍🏼
(I love this trick and tried to think about it and come up with the explanation) I'll try to explain this as concisely as possible: Every other card is the wrong direction after the first step (because you directly flip every other card over...), flipping pairs doesn't change this fact (middle step), the final step is simply a convoluted way of flipping over every other card, so you're back to where you started. The simplest form of this trick would be you do the first step to flip over every other card, and then repeat that step one more time... Obviously you'd be back to what you started with. Fundamentally that is all that is going on here, but with extra steps to fool the observer and make it seem more shuffled. The only requirement is you need an even number of total cards. It doesn't matter how many or what kind of cards you choose to initially be face up vs face down, at the end they'll return to whatever way you originally had them. If you're uncertain of how the final step of the grid works, just take a look at the pattern. Notice you'll never find a face-up selected card next to another face-up selected card (above/below/right/left). Every other card is in the wrong direction. ---- Let's say X represents a card in the original order, O represents a card you flipped in step 1. So the original pattern before flipping is just 8 cards facing the same original direction. (Again it doesn't matter whether an individual card is faceup or facedown, it'll return to whatever it was in the end) XXXXXXXX Now we flip every other... XOXOXOXO Now let's create the grid, but let's imagine we did it the wrong way, by not using an S pattern, instead we just placed from left to right each row: XOXO XOXO Oh no, now we have cards next to each other that are the same direction. Now when we do the folding step, it won't be back to it's original way! XOXOXOXO would be the result after folding this mistaken order. This would mean you'd have a mix of selected cards face up and face down, obviously a failure... This is why the S pattern is important So again beginning with the flipped XOXOXOXO we'd get from step 1, we'd place them in a grid in the S pattern (left to right then right to left, and so on): XOXO OXOX See, now none of the cards we flipped in step 1 are next to each other, so when we fold them over, repeatedly, we get back to our original pattern: XXXXXXXX What cards are X and what direction they are originally doesn't matter. The point is however they started, is how they will end with this trick. This allows for a lot of freedom in how you use this effect. You can have any number or type of cards appear face up at the end. Maybe you want all the red cards, maybe a perfect poker hand? Who knows. It wouldn't even have to be playing cards.
if the cards end up face up you could spread to reveal all of them are facing up expect for their cards. it's still impressive but it has more a mystery touch by revealing it facing the other direction.
That's a really fun trick. Thanks Jeremy! This is a side note, which pertains to magicians and magic effects in general. Snapping the fingers at the end, or whatever magic gesture, seems out of place here. I'd prefer to say that somehow the random choices were under my control. Or, as you introduced at the beginning, how it just "works". I have no idea why.
Just a thought, looks like you could do 3 prediction trick, after completing the flips, have spectator read the 1st prediction, 12 cards are face up (count and remove cards), 2nd prediction, 3 cards are red (count and remove cards), and 3rd prediction, last card is black, the Ace of Spade ♠️, just use a method to reverse 3 red and 1 black cards at the beginning...
I did my very first card trick with this tutorial and I smiled for a min. Thanks man

好棒!真的非常容易!谢谢
Yep that works too!
This Is incredibile, what a Great magic!!!

Most welcomed!
Whaaaaat??? Great trick. 👍
🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼
(I love this trick and tried to think about it and come up with the explanation)
I'll try to explain this as concisely as possible:
Every other card is the wrong direction after the first step (because you directly flip every other card over...), flipping pairs doesn't change this fact (middle step), the final step is simply a convoluted way of flipping over every other card, so you're back to where you started.
----
Let's say X represents a card in the original order, O represents a card you flipped in step 1. So the original pattern before flipping is just 8 cards facing the same original direction. (Again it doesn't matter whether an individual card is faceup or facedown, it'll return to whatever it was in the end)
XXXXXXXX
Now we flip every other...
XOXOXOXO
Now let's create the grid, but let's imagine we did it the wrong way, by not using an S pattern, instead we just placed from left to right each row:
XOXO
XOXO
Oh no, now we have cards next to each other that are the same direction. Now when we do the folding step, it won't be back to it's original way!
XOXOXOXO would be the result after folding this mistaken order. This would mean you'd have a mix of selected cards face up and face down, obviously a failure... This is why the S pattern is important
So again beginning with the flipped XOXOXOXO we'd get from step 1, we'd place them in a grid in the S pattern (left to right then right to left, and so on):
XOXO
OXOX
See, now none of the cards we flipped in step 1 are next to each other, so when we fold them over, repeatedly, we get back to our original pattern:
XXXXXXXX
What cards are X and what direction they are originally doesn't matter. The point is however they started, is how they will end with this trick. This allows for a lot of freedom in how you use this effect. You can have any number or type of cards appear face up at the end. Maybe you want all the red cards, maybe a perfect poker hand? Who knows. It wouldn't even have to be playing cards.

This is a side note, which pertains to magicians and magic effects in general. Snapping the fingers at the end, or whatever magic gesture, seems out of place here. I'd prefer to say that somehow the random choices were under my control. Or, as you introduced at the beginning, how it just "works". I have no idea why.
Agree! This effect is better played out if I (the magician) have no idea how it works. Making me the “witness” as well
@@jeremytanmagic Thanks Jeremy. And thanks again for the video.
