many home state tamilnadu students do not know Hindi. But you will have plenty of north crowd here and also you will improve your English and communication skills as all Tamil students are good in English.
Nearest airport is Tiruchirapalli (Trichy) and college is 18 kms from airport. If you intend to travel by train, board train to Chennai Central. From there there are lot of buses and trains available during all time towards trichy (duration is 6 hours from chennai). Trichy is located in central Tamilnadu. Train junction and bus stand in Trichy are nearby and from there college is 15 kms.
It depends on where u live in Maharashtra, if u r from nagpur region then there will be a direct train to trichy it takes about 24 hrs to reach there, if u r from Pune or Mumbai region then I will recommend u to go by flight otherwise train option is always available for u to go to Chennai and then from Chennai to Trichy u can go by train or bus. I don't think that these hostels justify the cost which is higher than other NITs. NIT Suratkhal , Rourkela and Warangal provides better hostels with much more facilities and also at lower Fees ......
