    That whole bit about putting in effort to communicate nuanced thoughts only to be misunderstood ... I feel that so hard!

    Low value tasks are a big one for me. I'm reading a book right now where the author suggests labeling tasks and habits as red lights or green lights. a red light task is anything that stops or delays you from reaching your goals (ie, scrolling on social media vs working towards your goal) and a green light is something that either directly or indirectly helps you move towards your goal (ie, spending free time on your goals, or spending an extra hour or two meal prepping at the beginning of the week so you save time throughout the week"
    One thing I want to do is FINISH my goals - a lot of times I get part way, fail, and then fall in to the "might as well give up on this one" mentality. I also end up putting too many things on my plate. I think a key part of this, at least for me, is realizing I can't do everything I need to do in a year, and I need to pick and choose what to prioritize and give myself room to "fail" at something. Example in the book I'm reading, is keeping up with the lawn. I know many people mow their lawn once a week but for someone whose lawn isn't the top priority, that's not going to get done on a regular basis, so I am admitting up front, I'm going to fail as a expert lawn mower and maintaining a perfect yard haha. It's a simple example, but it's refreshing knowing that you can give yourself permission to not be perfect or to "fail" at a few things. Not that you don't try, but you aren't holding yourself to some unreal expectation or standard.
    the lawn example is real though, my wife and I have gotten in arguments in the past year because I feel the pressure to mow the lawn and end up doing it on days where the LAST thing I should be doing is mow the lawn hahaha

      I love the red/green light! that simplifies it so much more than the Eisenhower Matrix haha. And it makes so much sense to think about the things you WANT to get better at and be consistent at as opposed to spending time doing that for things we don't care about as much... like mowing the lawn. I mean, we can care.. but we care about other things more lol.
      I have certain tasks like that that need to get done, so I have automations set up on a Trello board and every couple weeks certain tasks get added... so I don't have to remember to do them, but I see them on the list of things to do every once in a while... enough to keep them up, but not have them become a priority on any day.
      I also go through my to-do list which is goal oriented first before the list of "things that need to get done but arent part of my long term goals."

    I love this. There's always the physical or financial things to quit but going into the new year quitting some mental hurdles is a huge tip 💪

    The low value tasks point is major! Doing things that don’t benefit your goals is definitely a waste! Always good to see you Romina!!😊

    I am honestly so glad the holidays are over. That 2023 is almost over! I have a lot of goals for the new year that I've been building up for months as a "soft start". January isn't exactly magical for new goals, but it IS convenient! I'm starting my new business, and just got my first client!
    I feel you on resentment. I learned that this year the hard way, and as an introvert, I want to connect with others more and let the past go, as long as it's healthy for me. I want to let go of the fear that being social will Always drain my energy and keep me from achieving my other goals.

      January really is convenient (also my bday month). 😎 That's so awesome on your new business, congrats!!! 🥳 It's good to have a balance and to try to maintain that balance. Sometimes a little social time can spark an idea or help you solve a problem in another area like with a project or work. You got this! 🦩 ps: thanks for watching!

    2024: Let go of this societal / self-imposed pressure to magically transform myself from a pumpkin to a prince overnight whenever a calendar year changes. That, and to love myself a tad bit more.

    Could you give an example of a low-value task? Thanks!

    • @rominaespinosa
      @rominaespinosa  8 месяцев назад

      Sure! It would be anything that doesn’t align with your long term goals… for example for me it’s over-planning (bc that takes away time I could be using to make more videos), over-editing (bc I can simplify the edit and again make more videos), busy work (like organizing too much or filing / archiving), like tweaking the colors on a doc that nobody but me will see… things like that. I hope that makes sense! Thanks for asking, good question.
