"I didn't know this is where it's going."
OK Everybody, get ready. Here comes the third verse.
Exactly
This is what puts country in a different category of writing, they can cover a lifetime in 3 verses and make you smile, laugh and cry. It’s truly an awesome skill to be able to write a lifelong story that compact.
Well said
Ironically enough, country and wrap are my two favorite musical genres. And I particularly like the storytelling aspect of both and don't much care for the ridiculous version of either.
It's not an genre thing to do. Lukas Graham 7 years old does the same thing.any of beautiful poetic, story telling songs in rap and rock too. Great artists that know how to paint a picture are great artists no matter the genre. Country does stick to story telling more than most genre's but there's plenty of it in all music catalogs.
As your typical male who shows very little emotion this song gets me every single time
No shame man
Ain't nothing wrong with that
@@reactionwatcher7652 dang right. When a man, not a guy.......a MAN, says he ain't emotional, it don't mean he's emotionless or he don't have feelins. It means we ain't emotionally immature or incontinent. So, accordin to this description, I ain't emotional. I've never had a pet or animal as a cattle rancher that I couldn't execute if it was needed. The combination of my family movin around a lot as a kid, constantly at different schools and churches as well as bein let down and betrayed by close friends and family in my life has somewhat hardened me more than a human should be. But everyone that ain't a sociopath WILL cry sometime. Last time I cried, a girl that I was interested in played me like a fiddle with a phony story about her sick mother (if she even had a mother) to the toon of $400. My advice to the singles out there.....online datin and apps can and DO work out to the good, but you're much better off usin em to learn enough about the person to be interested and then meet in person from there. NEVER send any money no matter how much you have or how empathetic you are UNLESS you're a Christian and feel that God is leadin you to. Back from that little tangent.....nothin wrong with a man lettin it out. Heck, if yer human, it has to give somewhere and if not healthily and safely with a good honest cry, it can manifest in other mentally and physically harmful ways. Just cause we're the masculine backbone of the world don't mean we're emotionless robots. Ain't never been a man tougher than Jesus and he wept on a few occasions such as the death of his friend Lazarus. G.K. Chesterton said, "The true soldier fights not because he hates what's in front of him, but because he loves what's behind him." There ain't no such thing as a lover OR a fighter. If you love anything, you'll fight for it or to keep it. If you ain't capable of takin life, you ain't capable of lovin life. Even if ye happen to be physically alone or ye feel alone in whatever's got yer wagon loaded, ye ain't the only one. Give it a good ol fashioned cry, go fishin, watch the sunset, smoke a cigar, light a briar pipe, drink a cup of coffee, hit a punchin bag, split some wood.....let it OUT cause if ye don't, it'll let itself out when IT chooses.
same here man
Yeah, this one and Collin Raye's "Love, Me". Breaks me down every time.
This song caused a little bit of a stir when it first came out; people had to pull off the road and quit crying before they could drive. Everybody caught on pretty quickly and would either turn off the radio or switch stations when this one came over the air. If they were at work, it was fine, they would just pretend they were taking a smoke break. I bet Tim got a LOT of mail asking the same questions about the ending... Pretty sure it won some award or other though. lol
Not a country guy but there are about 5-6 country songs I love.. this is one of them.
I liked the video only because I know the song all too well. I can't bring myself to watch it because after my wife passed it took on a whole deeper meaning.
This song STILL makes me cry!
Don’t freak out. Yes she lived. And was running towards them at the end.
The lyrics made it sound like she died in childbirth
Absolutely not true. She passed away during childbirth. Then ending is the beginning of a new story.
The song leaves it open for interpretation. I'll just say that she survived the first two verses, There's no reason to think she wouldn't in the last verse.
Nope
Freak out?
It's a story. Fiction.
That was the Girl, Johnny and the kiddo at the end. Check out “Live - Lightning crashes” if you like a good emotional song.
I have watched over 100 different people react to this song and 95% of them stop the video before they see the complete end where Johnny is fishing with his son and as they go to leave the "girl" runs over to follow them as God listened to Johnnies request and did NOT take the girl. Once you know that the video is not quite as impactful as everyone thinks and you smile in the end, but most people miss that.
I remember the first time I heard this on the radio, and being torn apart by it, because the song itself doesn't tell you the girl's fate.
I love these songs because they are one of the few things that I can use to feel sad. If I can’t remember the last time I felt sad I listen to emotionally upsetting music so I don’t lose what joy I do find
Yes, that was her running. She lived.
Yes, that was her running carrying a picnic basket at the end. No clue how many reactions I have seen of this song and your one of few that actually saw her at the end. Most are too broken up and ranting at the camera to see her.
So you didn't notice the little brunette was too young. The little kid looked like the little girl in the beginning. Neither of the fathers looked the same... Cute, you want to wrap it up. But no.
Yes but no clue from just the song..
I like the open question the song leaves you with
Wish Tim still had this sound
A young Tim Mcgraw looking like the undertaker
The end is left open to interpretation on purpose... but the last words kind of tie it up.. johnnys daddy.. was taking him fishin (8 years later johnny jr) when he was 8 years old... but nothing more.. did she live? You decide.. thats why the song is so well done... you decide how it ends... not him. Thats how a well written song ends...
I find it crazy that I've been watching reactions to this the past few days and you drop it today
Humble and Kind is another great song by Tim. Keep doing County. Don't know what you know and what you don't. Try Sugarland's Stay, Alyssa Lies by John Michael Carroll, and Concrete Angel by Martina McBride.
Liked and subscribed...
I recommend and politely request Eddie Veder.. song called Society
Best wishes with your channel
🖐️😁
I was born in Mexico and grew up on Hip Hop but I'm a Tim McGraw fan cause of the storytelling. Don't Take The Girl, Live Like You Were Dying, Where The Green Grass Grows, Highway Don't Care and many more.
Don't say 'it's so 90s', as you're reacting I'm reacting to you. That turns me off right away.
Its funny how she went from him not wanting anything to do with her to him not being able to live without her.
@Kathryn Layne Reacts - try : “Real Life” ~ Jeff Carson…he passed away fairly young still…great great song
This is my first time watching you react cuz I was running through the don't take thegirl videos. Yeah it's country three cords of the story. Little tidbit yes that is her running at the end of the video. That's when they shot the video they were just going to leave it up in the air on what happened. But the conversation went it's a horrible ending to the story which makes the song obviously. But you can't put out a video without a conclusion. So they added the her running to go fishing with Dad and the boy. Dedicate story I'm very dramatic end of the story, they just realized we just can't have her dad in the video. I.e. happy ending.
If you watch the video, she lives. If not, you don't know. It makes me wonder if they made the video after people complained that she might have died.🤷♂
Yep! Yep yep! Time to call da ole lady! Been chasing that girl 9 years now! Thank God we're gonna get married. Shit like this terrifies me lol!
The song itself and video seem to imply two different outcomes.
Regardless, it’s purposely left ambiguous.
Not a huge country fan but I’ve always loved this song.
this is one of my all time favorite songs. Nota lot of people know that he left the ending open on purpose. so if you are listening to it without the video. You would think she died. But if you watch the video and see the woman at the end. You would think she survived. So this song can be very sad or very happy. Which is brilliant.
Yes, that was the mom in the end of the video. He purposely left the lyrics open but the official video closed with the happy ending.
It does not say it in the lyrics but it shows it in the video.
God answered Johnny Sr's prayer there in the hospital but God needs nothing we can offer so does not bargain.
Johnny St is shown going fishing with Johnny Jr years later and, yes, there with them along the waters way is the girl carrying a picnic basket.
She didn't make it. Johnny took theor son fishing 8 years later.
Do you understand what he's trying to say his parents and you what he want he wants someone to love someone to care for it was not who he wanted but it ended up being the Love this life he would give anything do anything not many people know what that means it is rare it has no meaning and everybody tells you there's no such thing no more if it was not for our parents if Lowe's not for true love we would cease to be a people and this world would not go on no more I miss my wife but I miss my family but I cannot do nothing about that no day goes by I don't think about them but we make our own choices we make our own way through this life I love them I respect them and I miss them but if drugs and your past that makes you steal and use people the way you do that is something you will you're still family I still love you do what you got to do I will never change I just hope one day you will find peace and settle down I love you bro I love you lone woman I ain't send me for the love of please be happy and quit hurting people one day love you
Yes,she survived, rhe viseo came around full xircle while rhey were on a family fihing trip!
Why won't you listen to it again does shrill music and emotion scare you too you not deal with emotions talk about true life and how things really are and the real world this is how we release this is the real we love we lose and we move on that is locked and the most honest way this is not a fairytale or this b******* that people live by days as soon as we grow up the Baer law for beef ribeye and things will get back to normal you disagree you disagree but that's not what life teaches you and that's not what the the graves runnings in history or religion teaches you you tell everybody to wake up for the love of God I hope and pray that he owned generation plates up and realizes they're in the dream and they've been lied to
Can you react to “What’s my name” by “Lil Bow Wow” music video
I've never seen anyone screw up a reaction so bad. You paused at the worst time twice. And talked thru the first chorus.
this is 80/90S Country. You don't get an ending. Just be sad.
Lil,you got me, I had to subscribe, youre funny( ans cute)!
If that wasn't her running, Dad is setting his son up with an older girl. It's a happy ending.😂
Your the first reactor I have seen ask that question IS THAT HER< Love it
Destroys me every time, even after we see her running to her man and kiddo at the end.
Born in 87. This brings back childhood memories.
Pay close attention and you will notice the girl stays with him in each of them. Yes that was her with the picnic basket.
You play too much. Pay attention to both the video and lyrics in the future please
do " if you get before i do- Love,me" by colin Raye. Love your reactions
I know the second verse scared me but the 3nd verse is when I cried when the girl dies
dial down your volume. Thanks
Concrete Jungle if you don’t cry you have no heart
Great reaction. God wouldn't of taken her. She was the one running at the end of the video. If you don't get somewhat emotional at the end of this song then you have no feelings - it's ok to cry regardless if your male or female.
I love the song too but I cried when the girl dies in the hospital
Tim Mcgraw- if your reading this
She dies. In the end he is taking his son fishing like his dad did him in the beginning
John micheal monogamy. The little girl
Please try Martina McBride concrete angel
This song always gets me right in the feels
You really ruined this reaction
yes that was her running. she survived.
SEEE YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!'
She wasn't running, its a loop.
That was her lol
The song that put Tim Mcgraw on the map
Yes that was her running because she survived
she died and that was a flash back at the end
I would have gone fishing with a girl
She didn't survive she died in the hospital
Sweetness 😁😁🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗
Yes, she lived.. 90% of people always get it wrong and thinks she died but no, that was her running.. she lived
People who watch this video don't pay attention to the word's of this song that's why there so confused if that was her or not,
At the end of the song when Johnny hit his knee's and prayed 🙏
He asked for four prayers in those first 4 prayers when he prayed to god what where they??
Once you figure it at the end of that of two things might happen
1. Johnny is just gonna pray for "don't take the girl" then walk out the door 🚪
Or
2. Since the time he fell in love ❤ with her he's doing nothing but protecting her,
Pervading her nothing but love towards her,
Taking care of her also during the year's when she was deeply sick.
So since he's been doing that all his life nothing but showing Pure:
1. heart ❤
2. Strength
3. Joy
5. Kindness
DO YOU THINK GOD ANSWERED HIS PRAYERS YES OR NO?
That was the baby with his father. a new girl ran in.
The little girl is a neighbor!❤
First song I ever danced to
no, she died in child birth.
That was the wife with the basket. Try Martina McBride "Concrete Angel"..it's ...impactful.
yeah keep on talking!!
The girl had blonde hair.
Yes that was her running
That was her in the end running
I subbed to see where all you go

This is one of my favorites and it brings tears every time. Thanks for reacting to it. After you do this one I’ll have another one.🙏🏼🌹
This is a story about life in the rural South circa 1940's from 1968 by a female country artist name Bobbi Gentry. To say this song deals with a subject that was still touchy in the 60's is to say almost nothing. There were radio stations that refused to play it and Gentry has never bothered to confirm it is about what it portrays.
Ode to Billy Joe, 1968 by Bobbi Gentry.

What a song...
Yes she lived
She lived
She lives :)
No, she does not die in the music video according to an interview with Tim McGraw. The video shows that she survives and goes with her husband and son fishing at the end. The song lyrics, however, are unclear about her fate and leave it open to interpretation. Some people may think that she dies and the last scene is a flashback or a dream, while others may think that she lives and the last line is a repetition of the first one. I guess it depends on how you want to see it. Do you like happy endings or sad ones?
She passed
Yes
She died
Another Tim McGraw song that cover the trials of youth, love, loss, and life is called Red Ragtop and it's one of my favorite Tim McGraw songs that he's ever made, if not my favorite. If you're taking recommendations from the comments section, I would highly recommend giving that song a review. It doesn't end sadly or anything, but it really is a good song that paints a great story in your minds as you hear it.
I like how so many people think that itll be a kinda funny song cause of how it started out and then get suprised half way through. There are a fair amount of country songs that will make you cry, not every one is about getting drunk, having fun, dirt roads, and getting the girl.
