No matter what problems you had or drama going on in your life, when you went to the shows everything was put on hold you didn’t think anything negative and the band did their thing. JGB in 1990-93 was on fire. NYC show in 91 was epic.

The Encyclopedia Of Jerry Garcia Music Venues
Fourteen years ago, I began writing The Encyclopedia Of Jerry Garcia Music Venues. It's the only book that combines all of Jerry's side band dates and the Grateful Dead's dates together by venue.
Alphabetically by state, there are over 1300 venues that include rehearsal, recording, performance, living spaces and planned/canceled show venues.
The history of each venue is here including architects, builders, owners, opening night performances and other notable appearances, murals, statues, stage prosceniums, backstage areas, pipe organs, secret rooms, hidden tunnels, restorations and demolitions.
Jerry's history at each venue includes the bands he played with, setlists, opening acts and other information giving the reader an idea of what went down at every date on every tour. In many cases via dated photos, what guitar Jerry was playing, and other anecdotal stuff that we love to read. I've added eyewitness reports to as many specific dates as possible. These are numerous, hysterical and heartwarming.
Thus far I‘ve collected over 1120 hi res venue photos approved by over 900 photographers. I've utilized college and public library special collections, historical societies, museums, Flickr and others. There aren't any Jerry photos, I have photos of the venues themselves to highlight where he played. Jerry owned over 130 musical instruments in his lifetime, giving away most of them. It's all chronicled in a 300 page section called Jerry's Musical Instruments.
Envision a two volume, 2400 page set protected in a slipcase, similar to an old bible. This is a book that resembles the records kept for medieval pilgrimages to holy sites. People will want to know centuries from now where it all took place...so there ya go!
On June 3rd the Kickstarter campaign launches with a cool little video starring me, and Jerry! That's where you can get the pre-purchase discount. I need your help to reach my goal in order to print this fantastic book. If I’m successful the book will be printed and ready in March 2024.

There ain't no bread in the bread box
'Cause we ain't got no dough
And it's seems like we ain't got enough time
To go foolin' around no more
I've been working so hard for oh so long
    What've you got to show?
Open up your eyes little darling
Let's pack up your things and go
Open up your eyes little darling
Don't want to live here no more
Open up your eyes little darling
Been here for far too long
Open up your eyes little darling
    It's time to move along
    It was late into December
    On a cold winter day
I'd just finished bringing wood into the kitchen
When I heard my Amanda say
She said "Elijah, you better look around
Things ain't like they used to be
Times getting hard for you and me
Come on daddy, it's time to shake things down"
There ain't no bread in the bread box
'Cause we ain't got no dough
And it's seems like we ain't got enough time
To go foolin' around no more
I've been working so hard for oh so long
    What've you got to show?
Open up your eyes little darling
Let's pack up your things and go
Open up your eyes little darling
Don't want to live here no more
Open up your eyes little darling
Been here for far too long
Open up your eyes little darling
    It's time to move along
Later head down in the middle of the city and I went up to her flat
Trying to make it through [life] with my child and my wife
And the world upon my back
I said sweet thing, you better hold me tight
Things ain't like they used to be
Times are hard for you and me
Come on baby, it's time to make things right
There ain't no bread in the bread box
'Cause we ain't got no dough
And it's seems like we ain't got enough time
To go foolin' around no more
I've been working so hard for oh so long
    What've you got to show?
Open up your eyes little darling
Let's pack up your things and go
Open up your eyes little darling
Don't want to live here no more
Open up your eyes little darling
Been here for far too long
Open up your eyes little darling

The Dead should’ve taken a break after 1989. Man, if Jerry would’ve stayed around the Bay Area after Brent’s death in 1990, just gigged local with JGB and JGAB, the events that transpired from 93-95 would happen a little differently. Would love to have Jer still with us. But like Harrison said “All Things Must Pass…. Away”

Yes, I have one. I remember feeling somber because my ticket read "Bill Graham Presents...." and Graham had been killed only a few weeks before this show. Also I was a little somber because it was the first time I had seen Blues Traveler since I used to see them at my neighborhood bar (Nightingale on Second Ave and 13th Street) where I grew up in Manhattan only a couple years earlier. So it was definitely a wistful feeling of change and moving on. But the music was incredible.
