  • The book is a collection of essays that seeks to change your perception of your life as a result of your cognitive biases. The general message is to seek purpose above passion, embrace fear, recognise the wisdom in daily routine, and not define success based on what society deems to be acceptable.
The book is not entirely all essays. It has more listings. How to know you are on the right path, how to feel good about yourself, how to know you are an emotionally smart person, things you should be grateful for and so on.
I have mixed feelings about this book. It started off really very interesting for me. I kept marking phrases that made me think, "Wow, this is fantastic." This is something I could absolutely benefit from. However, as I progressed, it became increasingly repetitious, especially at the finish. To the point of annoyance, to be honest! It could easily have been 200-250 pages. Now it's around 427 pages long!
    However, the book definitely offers some excellent lessons, which I have shared on my RUclips channel. I'm going to share one of my favourites from the book;
"When you dream up your perfect life, you think about how you're seen, rather than what your daily tasks include" Read that again.

Thanks for the book review. One thing I have understood that the chapter '20 signs your are doing better in life' is going to describe me how poor I am in 20 different ways.😊 So not gonna order this until I overcome this phase of life.
The reason is simple. If the book is trying to cheer me up with some achievements that actually I haven't achieved, then they are going to create more depressive thoughts.

Hi Deekshita. Thank you for your comment. Your comment cracked me up 😅 The good news is that the 20 signs listed is not what the society defines as 'success'. I am listing some for you here:
      - You paid the bills and even spent a little on non-essentials.
      - You question yourself.
      - You have a job.
      - You have time to do things you enjoy. Even if it is sitting on the couch and watching Netflix.
      - You are not worried about where your next meal is coming from.
      - You can eat because you can enjoy it. It's not a matter of sheer survival.
      - You have one or two close friends
      - You can afford a subway ride, a coffee, a movie ticket
      - You are not the same person you were a year ago
      - You have a selection of clothing at your disposal
      - You have lost relationships
      - You can sense what isn't right in your life.........
      Hope this helps 😀
