Violet, Allison's character, is an alto. We're doing this musical and the person who plays struggles because it's low and very monotone. Allison is amazing.
People keep saying crap about Allison, but I think she sings well. The reason they have her is cuz one she is an AWESOME actress. Two they have to balance out the songs by having one soprano, and two altos or one soprano and one alto and one tenor. If u don't have balance the song won't sound right. I -3 Allison. Y'all should c the movie the help, Allison is in it :)
i wanted to see this in ny but my entire family wanted to see wicked. i was like "its closing on the sixth! wicked is going to run forever!" and the hotel could have gotten us great seats since it was running at the theatre in our hotel. this is the most amazing cast! stephanie and megan really deserved more credit because when allison sings, its not the best, but she was nominated for every type of award, and steph and megan were only each nominated once, and lost to her.
i saw it when they were in LA almost every weekend becausee everyone i new wanted to see it, it was a hell of a show wish had a chance to see it in NY. megan an stephanie were both in wicked so you now they can sing lol. funny enough both played mains glinda and elphie
I saw this with the original cast and it was amazing. Allison was nominated definently for her ACTING but her singing was actually really good. It sounds really good here, too.
I mean, the role of Violet isn't supposed to be a belting soprano; she's supposed to have a sort of monotonous alto sound. It's part of the character. I think Allison played it true to the way it was meant to be played.
I love it how they won't sat "tits" on television, but "d--n" is perfectly acceptable. Allison is amazing! She's the entire reason I first got hooked on 9 to 5.
I LOVE THIS SHOW AND ALL THREE OF THESE WOMEN. But can I say the way they did Megan's eye make-up it makes her eyes look really tiny and not proportional to her face, which is a shame because she has very beautiful eyes
lol well its not regular theatre its... MUSICAL theatre which indicates that its not just acting that should be focused on...im just saying that shes not that great a singer...u have to be a decent singer to succeed in musical theatre...i bet this is the last musical she does... and you said it urself...SHE SELLS...which is probably the only reason shes cast. to be honest...i cringe each time i listen to her sing...
i have to say, Allison is a TERRIBLE singer i think singing is just as important. you HAVE to act while you sing, but if you can't sing, you should stay in normal theater, not MUSICAL theater.
