I adopted a cat that we were going to keep indoors and after 3 days he escaped by accident out of the garage and hasn’t come back for over 4 weeks now. I am so stressed and devastated we’ve done everything to find him. After installing a camera I discovered a feral stray cat coming around so he might have chased him away or injured him. So I didn’t consider getting a gps tracker as he wouldn’t be outside and I didn’t want him to have to wear a collar inside,. My previous cat was an indoor/outdoor cat but we brought him in every night - didn’t like him killing animals or possible getting hit by car etc so this time we wanted our cat to be inside.
@@tradingwithwill7214 ah i am so sorry to hear that. i hope your cat returns home - do you live in a busy area? if not, it’s possible he still may be out there! i had a close friend who’s cat went missing returned after a month or so
Wessie ❤️❤️❤️ + edit to add I really appreciate how thoroughly you reviewed this tracker, especially the outside simulations in different environments!
I have 2 indoor cats that i do let out when I am home and use this tracker on both. I do have geo fences set up so when they leave the yard Findster does alert my phone / me. I will say the is about 90% accurate in locating my cats. If the tracker goes in a garage the GPS might get confused but all in all a great investment.
That was so helpful and good to watch beacuse I need something like that 🐾🐾and I was waching you on tv and my cat was meowing to wessy and forest 😻it was so cute stay healty
I think this would be perfect if you didn't need to start walks first. I think they do this as a means of regulating the battery consumption. Whereas the Whistle stops tracking automatically when your pet is connected to WiFi. I think this is the feature the Findster is missing, and instead relies on you to manually start and stop. Wish they would change that because otherwise this is a great alternative to a Whistle.
You have such great videos have always loved them so much! Thank you for your great content! I agree with the downsides of this device, But it is the only affordable option though without any monthly payment plan unfortunately. So i still use it and it's pretty good i still would recommend it
That's a complete fail as an outside cat tracker because you need to "start a tracking session" for it to function. Nice for someone taking a walk with a dog who may run off a ways, but failure for tracking a cat. - But thanks for the review.
Forest is doing well! She's a lot less interested in video time than Wessie is, so she tends to volunteer for scenes that involve food, beds, scratchers, and other fun stuff. Trying on a tracker just isn't her style. Thank you for checking in on her--I will try to make sure that she gets some screen time in the next video. 🙂
@@AllAboutCatsYT Good, I was just concerned. i respect that you do not force her to be unForest-like just for the camera. I do not think I have ever had a cat that would wear that tracker, so Wessie is unique.
Biggest problem with all trackers, that collars get dropped, and even though you can the find the collar with the tracker, the cat is lost. Right now our cat is missing for 4 days since the collar with the Tractive tracker dropped. The biggest breakthrough would be a tracker under the skin of the cat,so the tracker ALWAYS was following the cat, but technology isnt there yet unfortunately
So far the best I've tested where the pawtrack and the kippy. I am looking for one with a beeper to call the cat and none of the GPS trackers did that so far - I'm still hoping.
Hi Mallory! I just watched your recommended cat tracker videos and this one and i'd like to ask if you could give Chipolo One a try? :') In your video you mentioned the Tile Mate but i think the chipolo one is cuter, has a longer battery life, kinda cheaper (depends) and is ROUND so it doesnt look weird on collars. Their website has a specific entry for using for cats!!! Hope to see it one day~ no one has talked about it much on here on youtube yet and i trust your reviews so much! thank you!!
Hi Andrea, thank you for the request! Yes, we're currently working on an updated tracker review and looking for good candidates for that list, so I will 100% look into the Chipolo One.
Quick question. My cat is not a door dasher but I let her explore in the backyard. Would this be a good tracker for letting her walk around the backyard while I sit inside and monitor if she has gotten into the neighbors yard or would a more accurate GPS tracker be better? Thank you so much for your reviews they are very helpful!
I have 2 indoor cats that i do let out when I am home use this tracker on both. I do have geo fences set up so when they leave the yard Findster does alert my phone / me. I will say the is about 90% accurate in locating my cats. If the tracker goes in a garage the GPS might get confused but all in all a great investment.
I've been feeding my cat orijen but was worried as they say legumes, peas and lentils are not good for cats or dogs, can you please do a review on catit dry food ? Made in New Zealand with similar ingredients to Ziwi. I've been wanting to try it but see no reviews.
The size alone is a it nonsense....that from the start makes it hard for me to buy it....the fact it has a dog on the ox which also tells me its a far second when it was made cause it had dogs in mind. If they could make it smaller and more cat friendly to wear I would consider it.
The difference is that most of the others aren't GPS, they are GPR?S , and tile or airtags are neither. True GPS is accurate to 3metres anywhere on earth. Tiles use bluetooth for less than 90m range, the two together will do the job if for example your cat it in a building but you don't know which. Bluetooth will tell you that.
My cat loves to escape outdoors, venture around my busy neighborhood and runs away from me when I chase after him . Would you suggest getting this or a cat barrier to try to keep him indoors ?
Hey there. For one, the Findster Duo+ reviewed here has been discontinued, so the Chewy listing should show that it's out of stock. Secondly, the 1 year subscription mentioned in the listing refers to Findster Care, the health service that was optionally included with the tracker.
Came across your channel and website. Thank you so much for all that you do. I have fed my cat dry AND wet cat food by the brand Simply Nourish. I'd like to switch her cat food and try to get something better for her. My question is, should I only be giving her wet OR dry food? Or should I keep feeding her both? She loves her wet food,, but seems to eat her dry food throughout the day when she's hungry.. Any recommendations I'd gladly appreciate!
Many recommend feeding your cat distinct meals rather than free-feeding. Doing so has benefits for health, mood, and behavior. So while it should be okay to feed a mix of wet and dry, free-feeding may be something to work away from.
They never sent mine and are refusing to refund me. They've been ignoring all my emails so I'm clueless as to how to get my money back because I found out that they are Portugal. I paid 160.99 😐
I was wondering about the collar. When my cat was wearing a collar outside, he came home without it for at least 3 times per week, so it ended up to be very expensive in a very short time. We used the collars that opens up if your cat gets trapped somewhere. How do you prevent that from happening with this tracker?
This is a really good question and not one to which I have a satisfying answer. Giving your cat a tracker presents a bit of a conundrum as you'll still want a breakaway collar for safety, but you don't want to lose the tracker. I would, however, still opt for a breakaway collar as the safest option.
@@AllAboutCatsYT I guess the tracker is a No No for us as my cat would loose it in about a week. But I really would love to be able to track him and also wearing a collar so people can see that he belongs to someone, but it’s just not possible as we have a lot of brush/woods around here so he will be stock. But he has an Ear tattoo and chip. Anyway, my cat Berts looks like wessie almost to a t :)
You're in luck because I have the answer to this exact issue! ...drumroll please! 🥁 ...the seresto cat collar! I had the same issue with my cats losing regular collars and GPS tags until I found and started using the seresto flea and tick collar, they still break in an emergency situation if the cat got tangled but they don't have the same push click clasp as a regular cat collar so they don't easily come off like others, haven't lost a single collar or tag in the 4 years I've been using them because it's impossible to! you also have the added benefit of 9months flea and tick protection no spot on treatments! we had a huge flea and tick problem for years that we could never get rid of or get under control until we stated using the seresto collars! I honestly can't say enough good things about it. Just a word of advice though if you do decide to buy, be extremely cautious about purchasing online, there is a huge problem with fake seresto collars and extremely convincing ones too that you'd be hard pushed to tell the difference between. I recommend only buying from your veterinarian even if it is a little more expensive that way, it's the only way you can be certain you're purchasing the genuine Bayer seresto collar. Whatever you do Absolutely do _not_ buy from Amazon they are awash with fakes that don't even look any different and you wouldn't even know is a fake until you compared it with a genuine one. If you were to purchase online only buy from a reputable veterinary website. (the bayer website has an excellent video on how to identify genuine and imitation collars and tell them apart)
