For the power leads etc, a better solution is vinyl dye. You can get it in a spray can from most auto stores (people use it for painting car seats etc) it dries fast and is obviously flexible. The paint you're using in your video is the *best* you can get for hard plastic. You can get a slightly better finish on plastic by using dy-mark metal etch primer first, but like you said, no need to chase perfection for this application. Great video!
@Anna S exactly. That's why it is best to use vinyl dye. Comes in a spray can. It's what you buy for spraying car seats, dashboards etc. Doesn't stay sticky, and it's flexible and doesn't crack.
Thank you for this! Someone told me if I did this (which I really want to!) the cameras would need to be repainted every year, is that true? Is there any specific clear coating I can put over them to protect the black paint from sun damage/fading? I would put them under a soffit overhang so I was hoping I’d get 5+ years before needing to worry about paint issues... what’s been your experience? Thanks again.
Any tips what paint to use lol I've used many and all have scratched on me, I've now started an experiment with clear lacquer to see if it toughened it up to prevent scratches, every time I pain a camera they look really good until I put the together and aligned them, it's the camera alignment is the problem and the outer part of the camera that holds the dome or turret runs against the ball an the paint just peels or scratches right off as soon as you move it
@Brandon DiGuilio the correct primer then the correct paint then the correct Lacker sorted it out for me lol so instead of just blasting paint on like this video if you use the correct primer eg plastic surfaces or metal surfaces then the correct paint again depending on surface and then Lacker it hardens unbreakable

When you move the turret to align the camera does it not scratch it?
If you use the proper paint, it will not scratch!
