This is my favorite Quentin Tarantino related film & I actually like how Tony Scott added a fairy Tale element to Quentin’s work especially with the Score

I like Tony Scott's ending better, but I prefered the non linear way the story was structured originally.

Jason you must have thought it was WHITE BOY day! Lol. This film rocks. My dad made me stay up late one night and watch it on HBO with him and it was amazing. Hands down the best work Christian Slater ever did. Same with Patricia Arquette. I have the same 2 disc special edition like you have. I did not really like Natural Born Killers but I loved this.

Christian Slater is a very underrated actor. Loved the scene where he shoots Oldman in the balls 😀.
Have you ever seen the movie "Gleaming The Cube" ? That is a great Slater movie.

Slater was also great in Bed of Roses. It is actually a very good romance movie with him and Mary Stuart Masterson and Josh Brolin. I really liked it.

One of my absolute faves, Tarantino notwithstanding. In fact, besides KILL BILL VOL. 1, probably my favorite Tarantino involved movie(can't remember if he actually scripted it or supplied the story), but love it nonetheless. Such a huge A-list cast, snappy dialogue(obviously Tarantino's work), and just the right amount of action to make this one of the best movies ever, in my opinion. Anyone who likes this needs to also check out 2 DAYS IN THE VALLEY and SMOKIN' ACES. While not involving Tarantino, you can undoubtedly see the direct influence in the exposition and execution of such films as these, although good in their own right.

Also I feel that the love between the main characters is interesting because they chose to be in love despite everything, it’s a really unique depiction of a really unique type of love

In my opinion the lighthearted nature of the movie is what makes it so unique, even among Quentin movies, the cute contrasted with the violence is so unique and so interesting, I’m a fiend for contrast though I really really enjoy juxtaposition

I wish you would’ve dove into Denise Hopper’s interrogation scene, you can interpret his character’s choices in so many ways, to me he isn’t actually a racist, he knew the mob was going to torture and kill him, he also knew that there is a possibility he would succumb to the torture and loved his son so much that he knew he had to talk his way out of it but the only way he could do that would be to piss Christopher Walken off so much that he would skip most of the torture and just kill him right then and there he also knew that mob guys are extremely racist and had that piece of information, his purpose for entering into that conversation wasn’t random, it was highly calculated and it was a strategy that probably did a lot to save his son’s life and saved himself from getting tortured, I also believe that it was to show the audience why Clarence is able to outsmart the pimp, the mob and the movie producer, he is extremely driven and cleaver just like his dad, one of my favorite scenes in any movie even though as a mixed person it makes me cringe lol, you can literally see Denise Hopper’s character’s wheels turning as the idea comes to him and he makes the decision to go through with it. It’s such a rich and purposeful scene and the actors involved just put on a masterclass for the audience, such an amazing piece of art in my humble opinion.

This is my second favorite movie, but you're right, Tarantino would have nailed it. It also should have had the original ending so it would make sense in his universe.

I agree with the reviewer it's a great movie however most of the music is not my cup of tea. Considering Christian's character, the movie should have had a psychobilly soundtrack or at least had 1 song by the cramps. Also it would have been interesting to see Tarantino direct it, Tony Scott did an awesome job however.

Why he asked if he was black was just Tarantino writing with realism. I live 5 minutes away from where True Romance took place, most people would ask if he was black just to get a mental image of this person youve never met thats being described to you. Its not racist.

If you can...track down the Tarantino Cut of this film...it was doing the rounds years ago, very interesting way to watch it in chronological order, insertion of some deleted scenes & the ending where Clarence dies & shes drives off UBER pissed at him!!! I personally prefer the Directors Cut of the film but was definitely worth a watch!!!

@@User-gf3rk i actually have the directors cut on VHS and i will watch it that way until it melts. But im sure Amazon has it. There is one small problem with its release not every company directors cut actually tells you it is in fact the longer cut. But i know there is a 4k directors cut i saw it a target but they wanted $40 for it. Unfortunately when its on a streaming sercive its always the R-rated cut. Sorry for the long reply.

I totally get you about people faking their interest in what you're into, when i was single I was on the look out for a true geek like myself (the odds were stacked as everyone in my home town knew the ex and feared an arse kicking from him and his friends- SMALL TOWN) so i thought- 'where can i find my nerd?' and i did, thankfully not a hooker on the make but on match.com of all places. after a few creepy af messages from strangers at the begining (one sent an application for a date that must have been about 500 words) and typical fuck boys after a 'oner' who didnt even own movie collections, I finally found my real dyed in the wool nerd, he got my quotes, i understood his humour and he didnt expect a brainless bimbo but I would have felt awful if itd all been fake I too would have taken it very personally if it'd been an act or a set up from well meaning friends, the angry nerd rage would have been very real lol
