A poignant detail at 1:53 ... V asks Johnny if he's ok with her choice. When he responds, V takes a deep breath. "No push back?" I feel like only then does V accept what's actually about to happen...
As the scene comes to a finish 2:39 - V stares out to the city - taking it all in. Johnny however only gazes towards the ground... contemplating his actions? His decisions? Those he left behind?
My interpretation is Johnny doesn't want this option - but he's wracked with enough guilt and changed enough that he knows if nothing else he's happy for V to go come to peace on their own terms and not his.
    Thoughts?

I feel like there wasnt enough foreshadowing that this could be an option. Like with Panam and Rouge and Hanako there are quest that lead into the ending that felt natural. The only other use of suicide in the game was Evelyn and i don't think that is the same as what V does.
Maybe if it was a secret ending you can only find if you dont romance anyone ( you have no other options)

@@jaredlingle3623 I think when you're given the gun, that's a pretty clear indication what they're implying... I mean you're not gonna go shoot up Arasaka with a pistol. I also think that V struggling and getting worse and worse lends a bit of realism towards this ending being an option. I mean, you don't want anyone to potentially die for you, but at the same time you're robbing others of making that choice themselves. It's a really complex debate and not an easy solution.

@@Matt-bg5wg fair point, and now that you mention it it, vik giving us the gun was a clear sign that that was an option. However if it was about not hurting anyone else there is the secret Johnny ending where you go solo.
Personally my V would have gone that far and I didn't see a journey in the game that lead to that ending. But i could be biased.

There's so much to unpack with this, we could spend days on it. All I know is, it tears me up inside to hear all her loved ones' reactions to V's gruesome end... especially Judy's. I hear her grief-stricken voice and I completely fall apart.

I love how the final show isn’t of V, but the city, showing how even then, it wasn’t V’s choice, it was the city’s.

Indeed. It's always and forever Cyberpunk's main character...

This ending is complex. V's suicide signals that his defeat is the victory of something far worse than Arasaka or any other corporation: the victory of Night City, with its gangs, its infamy, its evil, morbid beauty, widespread anarchy, violence, drugs, pornography, hedonism and consumerism. Choosing to proceed, including with Arasaka, signals that V's desire is to defeat/subjugate Night City. And this song is phenomenal for that ending.

This soundtrack hits so much. It's so sad.😣.
This is also the most emotional and the most important scene of Cyberpunk 2077, it deeply captures the cynicism and hopelessness of the Cyberpunk world.
Again, this is the ending I'd always choose.
    Rest in Peace Valerie/Vincent.
