In this video, I bring duckweed to my five pet mallard ducks which i hatched from eggs. They devoured every piece of duckweed and really seemed to enjoy it. Thanks for watching!
Might that be a good thing if it keeps the duckies away from other plants? It might even help protect the fish a bit. I guess the Fish Whisperer will have to be the judge of that. I have no idea.
Duckweed is really helpful at reducing water loss from evaporation and limiting algae growth as well as being a good food source for pond fish and waterfowl. Chickens also like it and it also good to add to compost. I actually keep some of it year round in my aquarium and add it to my pond in the spring. Buying a small batch of duckweed was the best $7 I ever spent. XD
I'm so thankful that the majority of your fish are fine!!! I felt so bad for you/your ponds after your first update explaining about the water turkeys, so to hear that the situation is not as bad as you thought is absolutely wonderful! I'll be wishing for lots of rain for you, and the survival of some of your future plants!!!
I love when they swim with their little duck feet. When my twin sister and I were young we had 2 white ducks. Smurf and Smurfette. And even though we lived right next to a pond, they were quite afraid of water

I'm a city dweller so I don't get to see things like this too often except at the local city zoo. Appreciate all you do and will continue to support your cause.
I'm glad you get to see such things, even if it's only online. Obviously, I love nature videos, too, but I'm also lucky in real life. I live in one of the most beautiful places on the planet and get to spend a great deal of time exploring it. It is not hyperbole to say nature saved my life. Recent studies show we humans _need_ contact with nature. Although watching videos is neat, there seems to be a real need for engaging in person. Can you go to parks? Even a small amount of contact with greenery and scenery can be of immense help. I wish you nothing but happiness.
I do love watching and hearing the ducks eating. Also so thankful that most of"our"fish survived. That's great news. Don't let it get you down fish whisper. We're all here for you.
A bunch of this stuff starts growing in our pond every spring and the wood ducks that use our nesting box love it. We used to feed them corn but we really don't have to anymore.
I will hunker down like the gar and wait for warmer weather. It was -22 below zero Sunday morning. Northern New York is where "Old Man Winter" hangs out 😁.
Found your channel, enjoy your calm voice and demeanor. I'm really a fish person but do enjoy your other videos regarding ducks/turtles etc. Hope you make more.
Duck weed spreads pretty fast, at least for the aquarium hobbyists it does, it could probably take over a pond if you put enough in lol It may naturally grow in your pond if the ducks didn't eat it all.
It grows very fast in water with high levels of Nitrates and Phosphates, i.e , polluted water and in a hot humid weather conditions, since it's winter and these ponds seems to be clean , so it's not going to take over so easily.
I would say majority of your ducks either found their own mate and flew off to breed because that is what most likely drives all different species of birds to leave its flock
Duckweed can take over a pond in the sense that the entire surface will look like it is covered in algae or something similar. We knew of a pond that had to be treated for that to keep it from looking like a swamp. Hopefully you won't have that trouble.
A cool but possibly annoying perk about duckweed is that it’ll grow insanely fast in a pond if you put a decent amount in it.
Yea it is. My family has a farm with a huge pond right next to it and the pond was completely covered in duckweed
Might that be a good thing if it keeps the duckies away from other plants? It might even help protect the fish a bit. I guess the Fish Whisperer will have to be the judge of that. I have no idea.
As long as there are enough fish, and maybe a bit of current I'm pretty sure this won't happen.

Water turkeys are ugly
@@duckquackaudio They are oddly majestic in their own brand of freaky
The sounds of them eating is so satisfying.

they confused but they got the spirit
Duckweed has the ability to grow over the whole lake. Makes it hard for fish to thrive. Hope they get it all. Great vids thank you

Your local zoo… has ducks… ducks are literally everywhere in London. So thankful to live in such a green city.
That duckweed is going to spread all over your pond before you know it 😂🤦🏻♂️🤷♂️
This man. Voluntarily. Introduced a duckweed into his pond.
It seems... unwise, from an armchair ecologist's perspective.
Anyone else find the sound of ducks eating soothing, like ASMR soothing?
You are special, I love your pond, ducks, fish. God bless you.👍👌👏💗
Who here misses tank keep in mind he was the go pro turtle and gave us a tour of the old pond

Glad you are back, sorry about your fish, where are the turtles? Did I miss a video?
I think it might be too cold for them to eat or move around, I believe they may brumate or hibernate?
I have geese at my local lake. I take the peaches that have fallen off my tree that are bruised in the summer and cut them up and the geese love them.

Put some in a tub or basin outside in the sun, and you have a never-ending supply. Many fish eat it as well.
