@@JimmyMac840 He has followed John’s commands, or at least what he believe John would want him to do. (And has done some terrible things in service of his boss.) Perhaps you consider that an honorable trait.
@@silence3314 We learned during a season one episodes why he has loyalty to John. This loyalty overcomes everything else. His personal desires are irrelevant. The preservation of the family and by association the ranch, will supersede it every time. It’s stamped in scar tissue.
Totally Agree. I had to look it up bcuz I knew I remembered him, 1st from ER as the original dad to Alex whose mom was the nurse Samantha (Linda Cardellini - Freaks&Geeks neone? & also all reruns of ER lol) & then from Fast & the Furious when he played the gangster w/ Eva Mendes as the GF. I remember the other roles for their popularity but on this show its like he was made for this role, in a positive way, he has found a way to be this character in a way we all believe, and for a show to succeed I think you need that from your actors.
My favorite little moment from the show is John enjoying retirement and taking his family to the rodeo. Beth tries to hold Rips hand in front of John and he just plays it off. “You can hold her goddamn hand Rip. You all act like I don’t know what goes on on my ranch” lol
This is my favorite recently aired show. It’s gripping and the characters are so complex- it makes you feel such a wave of emotions. It kind of possesses you after you watch it- you want to live like they do (out in the country, back to our roots in the US)
''New boyfriend, bigass ashtray'' is one of the best lines ever. The bunkhouse moments are also little gems. The moments when Rip ''scolds'' Loyd (ex: when they were doing lasso at 3am right before going to summer camp) but you can just see him smiling
I agree. Those fleeting smiles and other subtleties (such as moments of awkwardness, embarrassment or hesitation with Beth and John, for example) that Cole Hauser scatters across his performance make Rip a rounded and deep character that is endlessly interesting to watch. Acting-wise he is the MVP of the show.
RIP and the bunk house vs the motorcycle gang and even the followup moments are worth top 3 three moments, honorable mention should be when they released a bull in the bar lol

I could never figure how anyone could have a bad addiction. However, I am seriously addicted to Yellowstone. I have a 60 inch Samsung Smart TV, but I’m only watching on my iPad. From 3am all day off and on. I need help😂😊❤😅. Love this series. I raised my sons on western tv. Good clean quality programs. I could use a little less of the F word.
I agree, that along with Longmire, Justified and Yellowstone are the best. Justified had the most satisfying finale of any show that I've seen. But I hated to see it end.
@Michael Wayne Hey Michael. Someone posted that information a while back. Turns out it was NOT true. I forgot about this comment, but your question reminded me, and I have deleted the comment. Best wishes.
My favorite is always Rip, Beth is becoming my 2nd. At first Beth is nothing but a huge asshole, she still is one but once you start understanding her character she's great. Least favorite character by far is Monica.
I live in Arkansas and was in Rogers for a couple years. I guess Wes Bentley's (Jamie) parents live there and his dad's a pastor. I worked at a restaurant and ran a to go order out to them one night. I had no idea who he was, this was before Yellowstone but my coworker recognized him from American Horror Story. He had a pretty thick beard at the time. He seemed surprised/relieved that I didn't know about his success and make a big deal, or it may have been me offering extra stuff for free lol. Love this show though
My sisters boyfriend is literally Rip in real life. She’s so much like Beth it’s not even funny. Everyone in the family refers to them as Beth and Rip. Not a big western fan, but this show… I can’t get enough of it.
G'day Watchmojo, now that you have done a Top 10 Yellowstone moments video could you do a video for Top 10 Deadwood moments. I think Deadwood deserves it. One of the greatest TV series of all time along with Yellowstone.
When they blew up Beth and shot John, they should have made dam sure Rip was dead, but they didn't. I guess they forgot about him which was the biggest mistake in human history. Rip is gonna tear some asses up in Season 4 and I can-not-wait !
The bull in the bar or the concert Beth and Dan go to with whiskey myers playing should be on this list. Watch MOJO needs to step their game up for overlooking these.
Costner looks like the 10 gallon belongs there. Love Rip. Throw out Jamie, Beth gets all those good Maggie Smith -like lines. “i”m going to hang your diploma over the toilet in my guesthouse.”
Remember Costner started his career in SILVERADO, and then made one of the best Westerns of all time, DANCES WITH WOLVES. It's no wonder the ten-gallon looks like it belongs.
there were so many great turns this series could have worked with. Had they been red herring's then , sure. But there are parts of the story that could have led to great parts of the story but they went into thin air. Remember when they blew up the side of the mountain while the restaurant owner was having a fundraiser in first season? (it stopped there). Wife finding out her husband killed her brother. (took 3 episodes to get over that). Remember the sweat hut? It could have been a great way to fast track his storyline to things not said yet, or any other revelations due to the heat hallucinations in the sweat hut.(again,, Nothing).. lots of little stuff, sit down to dinner or breakfast. then look like they are done and the plates are full of the food they got served at the beginning.( they did this every single time.) they write in things that could be great story lines. Do the writers do these teasers then so the executive producers after to get the okay to do more on that vein? Pick a story vein and run with it (do it right, not half assed). First season I saw 2-3, second 2-3, season 3 I lost count. Again it could have been the greatest series ever, ever, Murders are over the top. stories could have worked at a different time, Maybe 50 yrs. But not today,, this many white people missing last known to be in that area? Blow stuff up with zero investigation. Zero witnesses saw the cops putting the drifters in killer trailer ride? There are several timeline flaws, so bad any high school film clue students would have caught. I just ran out of patients because this could have been that good.
"Unspeakable"? There be lots of unspeakable in this world son. Tell it for what it is, don't hide us from the truth. You're not saving us. Heh heh, "mouthful of ashtray", that's good.
I love watching Yellowstone, it's my favorite show. I have to say that the 1st screen of the traffic accident. Where the horse got hurt & John had to put the horse down almost stopped me from watching the show altogether. Why couldn't they just leave the horse out of the scene or at least not hurt??
The best Yellowstone moment was at the beginning of season 4 when Kayce hit the militia van and killed every one of those fuckers. The whole scene was badass
Yellow Stone is westerns for modern times. The ratings show how many people still love westerns. RIP is the best. Man this show is great!

The most intense scene of the entire series is the chase and gunfight at the opening of S4E1, however, Rip saving Beth is a close 2nd to me.
It's not the biker part that I love, it's the scene when they show up and John is looking for them. I love John's character so much.
