That Karen didn't do "minor damage" to that poor child! A fractured skull, a broken nose, and a gash in his head that required staples, is NOT minor! She deserved every bit of that jail time!

Who knows what the Karen would've done if they'd doubled down. Dad did just what DD did; prowled the sidelines, screamed at his sons as well as other players as well as us. We told him to sit down and stop yelling at the kids but he used to play ball in college and he knew everything that we were doing wrong. (He was an overweight, uncoordinated man child but sure he played college ball.) Also, I'd had a meeting and describe EXACTLY what I consider an emergency situation is, along with posting my version of the definition in various areas of my department.
Walmart Karen story: Does this particular Walmart happen to have an optometry shop? If it does, you should have escorted her there and told the staff Karen needed her eyes examined because she mistook you for a Walmart employee. Wouldn't that have been fun? But just another story that tells us we really should carry around business cards for local optometry shops for these Karens that can't read or tell regular clothes apart from store uniforms and the uniforms apart from other uniforms.
Hobby Lobby story: OP, I'm glad to hear your nephew is doing well. Even had the child crying been one of my kids, I doubt I could or would have stopped myself from "doing unto her" what she had done plus interest. But you need to take some basic first aid classes. Grabbing and gathering up a person with potential head and neck injuries is often the worst possible thing you can do as it can exasperate the injury(s).
Dodgeball story: I feel for the kid if he ever takes up a sport, whether in school or a summer league. Maybe not so much for the kid as for the coaches, parents and other kids. D dad is obviously trying to relive his less than glory days thru his kid. Poor kid!

Maybe better than laughing at them, another approach is to treat Karens as if they have early-onset dementia, _which might actually be true in some cases:_
"Did you get separated from your care-giver? Do you have their phone number? On a card?"
Be sure to speak kindly, but loudly in case they have trouble hearing.

Story 1: Back in the day, telephones were like some kind of magic spell. It was like when some one called you you HAD to talk to them and they could make you do things.... Then later when you get older you realize that just because some one called you on the phone (especially sales people) you could literally just hang up the phone. Like we were raised to believe that it was extremely rude to hang up on someone. But the fact of the matter is THEY were the rude ones. Today people don't even make calls most of the time it is all texts. I still remember a sense of empowerment in my late teens I got by just hanging up on strangers that called my phone trying to get something from me. Of course this is all before cell phones were a thing.

The woman in the store hurting OP's nephew is exactly why I was banned from going to Black Friday sales after I had kids. Lol😂 I barely had patience for them pre-kids but my mom would use my sister and I to run interference for her during them. My sister and I are 5'10 with Viking blood from our dad. Our mom is 5'1 lol.
After I had kids tho, the first Black Friday I shoved 3 carts that intentionally ran into mine with my babies in it. And had to be pulled away from 2 fights.
I was banned from them after that. 😂😂

And as to being mistaken for a clerk, Just a couple of weeks ago I was in a grocery store, PUSHING a shopping cart around getting my bi-monthly supply of food. I was wearing a red, short sleeved, button up shirt and blue jeans and had about two weeks of a beard on my face. I look like someone, NO ONE would hire for ANYTHING at that moment! as I start down a isle the man of a man/wife team asks, "Can you tell where the pickle relish is?" I know the store some what but I have to answer, "I am sorry but I do not work here and having never shopped for pickle relish I have no idea where to tell you to even begin to look for it!" They apologized, I laughed and we all went about our business. Still DO NOT know where the pickle relish is located in that store though!
