What a horrifying life those poor children were subjected to.I was so appalled the boys were found culpable when they did what they did under duress and fear of being the next to die.
Just want to add this story was narrated with compassion and empathy being such a difficult story to tell. Researchers amazing and I commend you. Wonderful team as always at Case File I too am surprised that by now you should have well over one million subscribers. You are a very good and unique podcast. What a horrific life for these children!! Poor Suesan was abused, made to sell herself, shot, put thru surgery, led to infection, then sepsis, liver failure, renal failure, and then burned to death and left in a pit like garbage! At least she was barely conscious by the end. Sheila's treatment was not much better. Children are one of God's greatest gifts. I can't imagine the ability to do anything even close to these things. May they be at peace now and feel the love from God that they never got to feel from their mother.
Mr. Knorr was vocal at trial that Teresa had destroyed his children, but he also failed them. His job as a father was to protect them, but he was absent. Everyone failed the children, from their parents to the police and authorities to the schools. Sadly, it still happens today.
It is truly a shame how much of this happens today. It often takes a failure on many to act, but nowadays people do tend to take abuse a bit more seriously. I remember growing up that "beating" your kids with whatever objects you had lying around was considered good. Nowadays that trend seems to be changing. Robert wanted to stay in contact with his kids, but Theresa wouldn't let him. She kept moving, removed the phone from the walls, and let nobody inside of the home. She should have never been let off for the murder of her first husband; unfortunately the jury saw her a sweet and innocent woman incapable of doing that. Furthermore she was a mother and they are reluctant to punish mothers and put them in jail, which led to her having more kids that she ended up murdering. She was a very sick and abusive woman. Unfortunately the youngest daughter said to them they thought this was normal and not abuse for quite some time so when the authorities stepped in (after Suesan ran away) they said they weren't abused. Also the mother was in the room which made them scared to tell the truth. Just a sad story all around.
It's also a shame how the one daughter escaped and was put into foster care, begged not to be sent back to her abusive home life, and was sent back to be murdered
Your research is superb. Having lived in the area at the time I never knew such details. Terry was such a brave and resilient young lady. I hope she is doing well today.
Having a narcissistic violent alcoholic mother myself, I can relate to this story. But you just shook me about the ice. I'd forgotten that. Putting ice on it to bring down the injuries before another school day.
Thank you. I finally did it. In May I emailed her to contradict her opinion. I was 15 when she last physically assaulted me, but the verbal belittling has been ongoing. She hasn't spoken to me since I stood up for myself.
@@donnablack6280 holy cow sweetie my mom physically assaulted me last at 15 and booted me out of the house shortly after. I think at 15 we were finally big enough and had just enough teenage angst to fight back. Your comment about the ice brought back some memories of my own even though I haven't listened to the story yet. Ice, makeup, long sleeves, turtle neck on a warm day, thick banded watch, a bandaid and backup bandaid, getting the excuse ready so people won't think you're a terrible person who has rebuffed righteous punishment from authority or whatever. My birthday was the same day as this podcast release and I'm in my late 40s, still insecure, my spirit still wobbly, and I'm eeking out an existence just like anyone else. @@andreamarshall911 Yep. Life is hard. It doesn't ever get easier. I experienced a very traumatic event just last week. The processing never stops. It's kill or be killed by our own tortured thoughts. I have to constantly push away the thoughts that make me want to die and just focus on the feelings. It hurts, it hurts like hell, but I have to feel it, sober and deal with it. It's so easy to get sucked in to these thoughts that are programmed to protect at all cost even when the cost is life threatening. Trauma sucks. The impacts are lasting, but we march on with love. I never want to impart those feelings onto anyone else, ever. I'm in my early 40's and I struggle every day to stay mentally healthy.
I'm a squeamish person and this was tough to listen to, but this is reality, and my squeamishness was offset by the boiling rage I had for this Teresa monster. She was the devil, not her daughter.
I have seen documentaries on this case before but never in such detail. This is absolutely insane! Just when I think it can't get more gruesome it actually does. Teresa was like the daughter of Satan. No human should be tortured and put through what poor Suesan was made to endure by anyone, least of all her own mother!!
Unsolved Mysteries with Robert Stack covered the Knorr case, too. They had Terry on as an interviewee. This is the saddest case I have ever heard of. I hope and pray those kids, now adults can work through the he'll their mom put them through all those years. If I remember correctly, Terry saw her mom (before she was imprisoned). It didn't go well
What incredible story telling of this terrifying case. A true monster who deserves to live in prison, in pure misery getting the same treatment she did her poor innocent children. Near the end of the podcast it is mentioned there was a memorial for Suesan Knorr near Truckee. I live near there and can't find this memorial. Locals don't know what I'm taking about. Does anybody have any suggestions?
Even though those brothers got a reduced sentence for being accessories of murder and being brainwashed, it still doesnt excuse why they never let anyone know.
