    Such a beautiful song. Mimi’s harmonies are beyond compare. She died of ovarian cancer. I have spent much of my life in cancer research. We’re getting better. But, damn I wish we could have been in time to save this beautiful voice. My sympathies Alan.

    By the end of their first song that night, I was sobbing. Short, but so powerful and beautiful, stark, but soothing. A sublime experience. Then the guy behind me says "hey buddy, chill. They're just tuning up."

    Low music helped me feel through previous loss but also primed me for future loss. It just sounds so much like what losses I experienced younger and then all the more adult losses /deaths or impending deaths I have known as an older person at this point. I am really grateful to an old friend for introducing me to Low in my 20’s. It never becomes irrelevant , even almost 20 years later.

      I wish Cue the Strings comments weren’t turned off . That song always is a friend when I hear someone’s died , or was there for the death, or they were told they are going to die soon possibly , or I worry about the future in general in terms of loss of life.

    yes and always yes. At the risk of it sounding like a name-drop (i.e. \"I was there when\"), when they played at the black cat in DC in 2010 it was I believe, by the end of the show I found myself in tears (nearly weeping). What a tremendous band, what tremendous contribution to sub-culture and what immense giving to music (as rarely as they are heard)

      I found this in an interview Mimi Parker gave to the online magazine Mojo:
      ======
      After all those words that have labelled Low down the years - slowcore, Mormon, married, quiet - she hits upon the one that fits best. “It’s miraculous.”

    • @marca4443
      @marca4443 Год назад +1

      @@dbadagna I had no idea she just passed away. What a horrible loss. I didn't read your comment properly at first. Edited my response:
      Obscene is the word. I don't know how one sees "miracle" in this. This is a song about total failure, of a specific kind. A total failure to come close to the beauty of what is perceived. A humbling that is simultaneously a breaking of the knees

    Robert Plant copied this tune, it wasn't a cover.
    Don't get me wrong, he did a good version. It's just that I'm of the opinion that, if you cover a song, you make it your own in some way. His version is almost a facsimile. Same can be said for his take on Monkey.
    The fact that he didn't says a lot about the originals.
    I adore Low. I love that Mr Plant even knows who they are. It's great that a few more folk will know they exist thanks to Bob. Just make it your own next time please.
