    The kōhanga reo movement started 40 years ago in 1982. Created to preserve te reo Māori me ōnā tīkanga by instilling it into Māori children. The Kōhanga Reo movement was the first step towards helping the language and culture survive. And it has seen the establishment of full immersion Māori schools and tertiary courses. So what can we learn from the past fourty years? And what does the future look like for the Kōhanga Reo movement? We ask some of the leaders of the movement.
