Her actual real hair would have complemented her role in the Vampire Diaries. She has such beautiful hair! She's so pretty naturally! Would love to see her in a role that would respect her natural self!
ALSO VAMPIRE DIARIES WOULD HAVE BEEN NOTHING WITHOUT YOU! YOU ARE A STAR!!

I don’t think she’s crying over hair, but moreover, identity. To come out and embrace your hair, especially when it’s not accepted in society, is an emotional process. It’s accepting yourself, and it’s saying you don’t care what others say anymore. She’s taking care of herself and her hair; that’s what it’s about.
She's completed her circle for self love
It’s def not over hair it’s because she was getting emotional about all the abuse she was facing
Lmao hair is not accepted in society😂? Please. It’s 2023. The fact tht privileged Americans cry and whine about hair and call it oppression is baffling to me. Americans are ao out of touch with the rest of the world. While yall are offended because a white person wore braids but called them french braids over box braids, there are people starving and dying. While yall cry because a stranger on the street accidentally used the wrong pronoun, there are children being sold into slavery. People are opressed all over the world. Kat Graham is not one of those people. Get over yourselves.
the fact that she’s crying as she reminisces about realizing that her natural hair is beautiful just shows how much of an affect black women’s hair in specific has a huge impact on our lives and how the standards
of society can really take a toll, ESPECIALLY on black women.. 😞

Yass girl. I'm black, but I'm also Syrian/Indian. And it's hard enough putting my hair in one. That's why I love having someone cornrowing, plaiting and styling my hair for school/events(But I can also comb my hair but it's really long and have so much body). I was born and am living in Jamaica and it's so hard finding products that are good for my hair type,so I experiment ALOT, all of my siblings have different hair types. My older sisters hair is more afro, and a bit curly(kinda like 3c), she couldn't manage it so she choose to cream it🤣. My mom is Syrian/Chinese so her hair is wavy, have body and really long. Also, guys try onion, coconut oil, eggs and avocado in your hair, it's great and healthy
If only we knew.
It’s Makaela Shes mixed with black. Her dad is black... well America Liberian which have African American Ancestry. And her mom is Jewish.
the worst part is the fact that she felt stupid about crying over her hair becuase thats what society has taught her. This woman does not deserve that. Poor Kat, i wish i could hug her. :( Her hair doesnt make her any less beautiful, i think she is one of the prettiest girls out there. Nothing can change that.
As someone who has the same hair type as her, i love this comment sm
The way she cried about her hair hit me SO HARD as a 15 year old blck girl who’s still learning to control her hair :)
Don’t say control sis. Say embraces, our hair doesn’t need to be controlled or tamed. 🥰
Hey , why is it like that ? What's wrong with hair ? Is it because it's too curly?
@@thekims6271 Because white dominated cultures invented the modern concepts of race to justify racism, and decriminalize everything preceding the 3 pronged global slave trade. East asians were called yellow, natives/mid-east were called red, Africans/Jamaicans were called black while the now called "race" with the most blood on their hands ironically were called white to symbolize narcissistically incorrect purity which Hitler was a fan of.
ugh yes, trying to get it tobstay dowm for school is such a struggle :(
Your skin is beautiful I hope I also have same...
Why is nobody talking about Kat? Talk about her! She literally just cried in front of camera because of the struggles she's had with her natural hair, and loving and accepting it. This is her first vid like this and she is the most genuine celebrity I have seen! All of this is so genuine, I came here cuz I saw Kat's face, but now I have such a deeep respect and love for her.
I’m so used to calling her Bonnie that for a second I was like who’s Kat😂 but I agree!
you are right
I mean this is the real hair journey for many black girls and women or mixed girls and women. Personally, I was blessed to be raised by my black mom who knew and understood how to do my hair which is 4C curl pattern through time, effort, knowledge, and the legacy of life skills my grandmother passed to her. Even that wasn’t enough just in my immediate family all our hair textures are so different even though we’ve had similar hair struggles. But the pride we have through our hair by loving it, accepting it, growing with it, and working with it is priceless. It’s a everyday process and sometimes you have those bad days where you wrap it put it in a bonnet and call it a day. Lol. I’m glad she showed this side of her, I never thought to think during Vampire Dairies she was using sew ins and wigs (it makes sense) but in my opinion her natural hair is beautiful and makes her look younger.
So true
@@Maria-xu4vd me too
The fact that I’ve never seen her natural hair before on the vampire diaries is kinda crazy...

I love Kat’s transparency in this. As a black woman I completely feel her and when she cried I cried too! It’s deeper than just hair.
It's absolutely deeper than hair.
@diopfifi4937 Her real hair is gorgeous I would love to have seen her afro on tvd, all hair textures are beautiful ❤
After this video, I did a bit of a dive on her past. She is a super hard working girl. All these mistreatment stories really shocked me. I always thought she was the most beautiful girl on TVD. Really a pity what she had to endure. I don't know if she would ever read this, but we are rooting for you Kat!
@r0bz _ I don't have Instagram :) But I would think there is still a difference between wanting to wear them and expected to wear them, no?
Honestly she is just so beautiful
Black girl hair is soooo emotional. Like... it is NOT a game. I felt her so hard when she was like, "Why am I crying over conditioner?" It's just that way sometimes. If you know, you know. We're a sisterhood, and we feel you. :-)
I’m white and I’ve cried over my curls too. It feels like it will be a lifelong journey to figure them out. And why do we put so much of our self worth into our hair?
Curly Crew
Honestly , I’ve found that a lot of white people just don’t know how to deal with curly hair. I bet if you grew up with me (I’m biracial) , you would’ve loved your hair haha.
Allison M
I would give so much to even have a friend with curls! The white society offers so little support for them!
I'm white and finally, 2 years ago I stopped straightening my hair. Ignore my profile pic haha that was back in 2010 when I straightened every single day. When I stopped straightening, I notice all my defined curls were gone. I was shocked to find how upset this made me. All my life I was told that straight hair is the most beautiful...every girl I knew straightened their hair. After a few months of not straightening my hair and not blow drying it, all my curls returned. I comb it with leave in conditioner after I shower and let it air dry. I love and appreciate my natural curls. All my white friends straighten their curly hair but one. My hair is so much thicker. I live in Florida with extreme humidity. My curly hair loves humidity haha makes it more curly. Embrace your curly hair. Curly hair is beautiful and don't let anyone tell you different!
I really do feel her...with every fiber of my BEING....this pandemic has helped me embrace my curls.....I'm going to a natural centric stylist so that she can cut the rest of this relaxer out of my hair......I cannot WAIT!!!!
Her crying over her hair brought tears to my eyes. I’m so glad she is loving her natural hair because it’s gorgeous!
isn't it just! i thought she looked beautiful with the hair I've seen her with on tv and movies but her natural hair is just so much prettier AND its who SHE is. i feel so bad that so many different people have been made to suppress their culture and natural beauty, I'm glad she was able to show us her beauty in all of its glory!
My hair has made me cry many times throughout my life. I totally get how she was feeling.😭🤎
This is beautiful, y’all. I also starting crying because I too have curly hair and learning to love my hair after straightening it for YEARS has been a truly intense but fulfilling experience. Us curlies gotta stick together!
I have no idea if this is weird to say to strangers on RUclips comments but imma say it anyway 😂 I’m so proud of y’all for not letting society erase and suppress your natural beauty.
My aunts recently embraced their natural hair and it was so empowering to see. I was once embarrassed about my Jamaican heritage but, especially over the past few months with BLM, I have become so proud of my heritage and I really hope that this movement will truly change the world for good so black people and all ethnic minorities can flourish and be their true, authentic selves. BLACK IS BEAUTIFUL!
Daniel Barnett it’s not weird at all and thank you so much, it means a lot
I really empathized with Kat's emotions during: 4:41-5:10 - I don't think those who were not born with highly textured African/Afro-textured hair will really grasp how much hair care is a big deal in the Nubian/Black community internationally. So thank you for highlighting your hair care routine and being vulnerable Kat, much appreciated!😊💫
I cannot believe this is the first time seeing her natural hair texture. ❤
The reason it's your first time seeing it is because she still wears nothing but wigs. She's full of sht and doesn't wear her hair thisbway
The most disrespected yet most valuable character on tvd was Bonnie Bennet.
If she was made the most valuable, then how was she the most disrespected?
I agree, she literally saved the world. She deserved better. To me she was the strongest witch and female character in TVD. Followed by Caroline

Sweet Fee -As much as it pains, don’t keep buying a lot of products. I could open a salon with all of my hair care products (I probably use 10 products right now). Journal your hair care, step by step with the products you use. Try to use the same products, in the same order for a month. I know you’ve heard it a million times, and I am honestly still trying to find the right balance, but water is the most important ingredient to your healthcare. I melt it in warm water, let it cool and use that as a moisturizer and then seal it in with oil or grease. Hope that helps.
My ignorance is showing... I had no idea that her hair on TVD wasn't her own. I almost cried with her when she got emotional about never being able to show the hair she was born with.
It’s not ignorance, so many people just never focused on her hair because they were more into the characters and storylines. We have to start being open, understanding and accepting of those who don’t look like us and have empathy because our situations are totally different.

This was one of the realist Vogue episodes in a long time. Her vulnerabilities showed right through the camera lens and the struggle is real especially dealing with natural hair with people of color. Societal norms and especially working in entertainment have white washed the perception of beauty. Kat should know and always know that she is beautiful.

Her personality is as beautiful as she is!! I'm so surprised at how real and sweet she is! I love her so much more now!!🥰 I never watch beauty routines; I just watched hers to see how she would be... she did not disappoint 👏🏾! Proud of you my sister!! Keep on embracing your natural hair🥰🥰
It warms my heart to see someone so comfortable and happy in their own skin and hair! Loving yourself can be tough, but you are making amazing strides and I couldn’t be happier!

I love that her hair products and make up are just ordinary products. This makes her so much more relatable
It’s really sad they didn’t let Kat embrace her self. Although it’s just hair, it has way more meaning than that.
@Ayaan Misbah Yes!
Agreed she was the best actor, character and she was honestly the prettiest on the show she literally treated her like a dog on the streets

she reminds me of Elizabeth Olsen for some reason. Like her demeanor and voice is very similar, also I just love Kat. She’s a very special person and you can definitely see her true beauty here
TVD did her so dirty throughout with her hair so lovely to finally see her real hair
Her bangs were not the move I love her natural hair

Freaking love this, just b/c the struggle really is real and when u get to know love and embrace your hair it’s truly spiritually uplifting!!! Took me 25 years to figure this out now at 31 I love my long 4c hair rarely use weaves it’s amazing
Aww Kat, you are not alone! So many of us have struggled with our curly hair... you're so beautiful inside and out, hair or no hair, curly or straight. Thank you for being so honest with us and for sharing your tips. Just beautiful! x
I'm really saddened by the fact, that I NEVER knew this is what her hair really looked like. In all of TVD I cannot believe they never showed her real hair even once. It also makes me sad that her mother never tried to educate herself on how to take care of her daughters hair. I'm happy for her that she is embracing her natural hair. She looks so happy and beautiful :)
I always admired how beautiful her hair looks on vampire diaries .. until now , I didn’t know it was a lace. I’m happy a lot of black women are embracing there natural hair . I’m glad she loving her natural hair and embracing it

She always wears wigs even now. Check her Insta all wigs

Her story is TOO familiar. I attended an all-female, historically black college and I, along with so many of my sisters had to go through that same moment... we never had to deal with our natural hair, alone. What a real and relatable, raw moment.

@@kelli24 i thought i was the only one
Serenityblu23 nope! i’ve lived in a predominantly white neighborhood growing up & once junior high & highschool hit diversity began to increase & i began to hangout with different types of people, including my first all black friend group, it was really nice to have people that looked like ME but i still found it hard to fit in with them & felt like i COULD be myself but NOT myself in a way & felt judged. but, i have the same concerns i really want to go to a hbcu to have that experience, representation, & just be with people that had the same struggles as me but found myself hesitant due to not wanting to be judged :/

This was the most touching of these Vogue beauty routine vids that I've seen. I never knew of this actress prior to this. After reading the comments, I think I'll binge watch the show she was on.
i literally cried with her when she cried. i am very happy that she is accepting herself and embracing this side! very proud of this amazing woman. 🤍
She is absolutely stunning. I love how vulnerable she was able to be🖤🖤🖤
omg. the fact that she cried over finding something that made her comfortable with her OWN hair shows you how hollywood and media condition black women to feel like they need to fit western ideals to be beautiful.
i don't think it has anything to do with Hollywood, society has glorified straight hair for way too long and not to mentioooooon black women do like to hide their real hair all the time, they're just as guilty.
K' Lapis I’m sorry how are black women guilty for covering their hair when you literally just said society is more accepting of straight hair. She had to hide/alter her hair bc her own mother did not find her hair worthy enough to educate herself and her daughter to love and care for it. How would you expect young girls to grow up in that society and then easily accept an attribute that they’ve been conditioned to loathe??
Gwen Lambouths just shut up lol all yall do is whine give it a rest for a day geez
@@gwenlambouths3754 I know what you mean, i meant women buying wigs and wanting to have straight hair instead of understanding that every hair type is beautiful is also a problem.

I love Kat! She is one of the few black/biracial women I know with a relatable hair texture and that shows black beauty. You can tell through this video she really had a transitional kinda epiphany through her hair journey and I'd love for younger kids growing up to idolize more good souls like her. Im also caramel toned and have 4b hair and growing up never seen beautiful black women with the same look as me around. So this is 💯Shes just the sweetest person

Watching this video made me see a different view on my natural hair.. I would hate wearing my natural hair and knowing what to do with. I would always want it in braids or flatten cause I wasn’t confident. But watching this , Kat, having the same problem MADE me REALIZE to embrace and love my natural hair .. now I’m wearing my natural hair and like she said it’s actually very therapeutic for me .. she’s the reason I’ve been wearing my natural hair .. it can def be hard knowing what to do but like she said , I’m going w a fro.. usually when I’m out the shower I put CANTU in and some oils and it def makes curly and for the first time it has the best curls I love it…. Thank you kat for being who you are and if you are scared to embrace your natural.. know who you are and wear that THANG♥️♥️
