(because isn't that just the most hateable name) and they don't like it because pineapples aren't used to having human emotions. it's pure torture for them. the last straw is when they see gerald slice and vivisect a pineapple right in front of their eyes. they make friends with a group of wizards who teach them powerful transmutation magicks. they go to a magical bridge at high sun to claim enough energy to make their transformation, but their channeling is cut off by gerald. belabored with dismay, they take a leap off the bridge, uncaring about where they may land
But aren't memes supposed to be copied there has to be a pattern. This is amazing but is nothing like the others. It doesn't follow the format at all so I don't think it makes sense to call it a meme.
this is a breath of fresh air for the animation meme community. i'm hella glad that this isn't another unoriginal copy, over and over of a character head bobbing into oblivion. it's very refreshing to see an interesting and original animation, one that took thought and time, to spin off the stereotype of most. keep up the good work!
After watching and replaying this video multiple times, I have came up with a theory. In the beginning of the video, the mirror seems to reflect a different person and the red hair is slightly turning back. This is the same black hair who is seen dropping a knife on a brain in the video. This could possibly connected to murder. The part with "made me run," could mean that the red hair was chased by the black hair and ends up being murdered by being pushed into the water to drown. In 0:23 it does appear as they are preparing to fall in for suicide, unless someone could possibly push them off. The color red seems to be associated with the black hair as it appears at their face at the near end. This could be related to murder. The red water from the sink could supposedly mean that they are ridding the evidence. The person peaking in seems to be a friend just checking on them, also unaware of what happened. The missing poster at the end means that whatever happened to the red hair was not witnessed by anyone. This could simply be connected to what I assumed to be the black hair hiding the evidence. Anyway, the parts with the pineapples could simply mean that they're going crazy or perhaps relate to being underwater. Of course that is something guessed from the Spongebob series, though it explains about them being in the sea. I'm probably not accurate at all, but I did attempt to create a theory to explain most of this.
The mirror is represented as a reflection of someone perceive themselves and water also represent cleansing, so the first part the animation shows the red-haired man washing his hand so he cleans off his "impurities and imperfection" but still see the black-haired man through the mirror. This black haired man is seen as evil and probably a sadistic person from the way he smiles. When the black-haired guy was sitting on the pineapple, the hair turns from black to red, which could indicate that the black-haired man is somewhat part of the red-haired man, or at least, part of his mind. When the pineapple turns down and rotates, it tells about his point of the world; upside-down and meaningless. After that, he shows his body, but not his face as if he was hiding some something. The next part, the pineapple with a heart is opened and release the red-haired man to a black-haired man, dropping the knife to the brain to get the idea of him wanting to remove or kill that piece of him, that "I'm so scared," of him from the way how he dropped the knife so elegantly. During the bridge scene, the bridge is a pathway between two different minds; the "perfect" and the "imperfect." The Red-haired man jumped off the bridge and into the water, thinking it would clean him from his "sins;" however, instead of getting rid of his imperfection, he sees that he is more flawed than his alternative-self. His eyes are now pineapples, his perception of himself is no longer valid and let go of his idea of himself and become who he truly is, the blacked-haired man. Unlike introduction, this version of himself seems more relaxed, calm, and almost friendly. Now, another repetition with sink except the water is red, cleaning off the red-hair persona he kept for so long. Finally, the female comes in; innocent and sad, maybe even ill. The black-haired man sees her as an another who is going through the same troubles as him. He could help her or let the mirror do its thing; whatever the case, he ends it with his right hand on the sink, not inside of it. Bonus points: The people around him saw him and he acts completely different than what he used to be, so therers serching for the "real" guy, hinting the missing poster.

My theory is that the red haired person was tortured or bullied to the point of committing suicide. I believe this was the black haired one's plan for the red haired one to kill themselves. The pineapple scene at the beginning was them debating with them self about suicide or not. The red head finally came to the conclusion to do it as they think the black haired one will just kill them anyway. The black haired one is happy that the other is dead and is does not regret it. But I it still follows them later as to the (metaphorical) blood in the sink. I say later because now they seem to have a partner, a wife or girlfriend.
This is amazing, let me just list why this is so amazing. 1. ITS ORIGINAL! Its not just a head bobbing up and down, no no no, we got ACTUAL animation! 2. The colors. They are so bright, yet they seem to match so well. 3. At 0:08 , it seems like cars are passing by a completely dark room. You pulled it off so well. 4. At 0:22 , the perspective changes constantly, as if a camera is following her every move. THIS is an animation meme ladies and gentlemen!
I think this person metaphorically drowned their old self and became a new version of themselves, a version they were previously scared to become. They hate themselves for it and thus causes an eternal struggle within their mind, but they feel they can never go back. They see their old self as unlovable to everyone else, but their new self isn't who they feel they truly are. This is just my simple take on it. Probably totally off but I'm just calling it like I see it.
My Theory: The red haired boy is on the run from a killer, the black haired girl with a knife. The red hair boy has split personality, the black haired boy, that actually exists in a different universe, and that can only be seen in a mirror. He learns that the killer is almost upon him, and he drives into the lake, which hold the portal for him to switch into the other body. The black haired girl and her companion, the girl in the dress at the end, are now trying to find the boy in the other body. They put up missing posters. So, that's just my guess after watching it a couple of times, and it's a pretty bad theory. Beautiful animation btw
In my opinion, this is a really inventive use of this song-based challenge. The illusion of madness allows each scene to transition smoothly into the next, providing for us a consistent sense of flow. The use of colors is especially great to me because it gives the story a sense of otherworldliness. Great job.

Even though I found this masterpiece about two months ago and have been watching it in awe ever since, I have no idea why I'm commenting just now, but hey- better late than never. So one day out of sheer curiosity I decided to click on an animation meme playlist. I can't call myself that big of a fan of 'em even now, but back then I had barely seen any. I watched a dozen- they were alright, as much as you can expect from an ordinary meme. But then, out of nowhere, on my screen unravels something extraordinary. The surreal movement and dreamlike loopyness of this animation, along with the unique song was unseen and unheard by me before. By the end, although slightly confused about what I had just seen, I knew that it must've taken admirable amounts of time and skill to make. This might sound kinda creepy (which it pretty much is), but for the next few days I couldn't stop thinking about it, that animation was just so surreal, I thought. For a long time I had thought about potentially starting an animation project, but I wasn't all that sure how or with what to do it, animation was just this foreign concept that I could only dream about. But when I saw this masterpiece that used all the wonders and potential that animation could bring, I was inspired to start as well. And I did. Although I'm still a beginner and I haven't done any big projects yet, I'm striving to get to a point where I have enough skill to do something as great as this. I know that the length of this comment might suggests that I'm being a troll (and frankly I can't blame you if you think so), but I'm being completely sincere. So, if you somehow got to the end of this big ramble, thank you, Sugar. Thank you for creating what I can confidently call one of my favourite animations ever and in general being a great role model and artist!
Theory 1: Red haired guy was probably in love, manipulated, and used by knife guy, and when he realised it he was so heartbroken that he tried to confront him, but was knocked unconcious by knife guy and dragged off into the middle of nowhere. He started to hallucinate as a result of being close to death after days of wandering, having visions of plummenting from the bridge into the water, and seeing the "evil side" of knife guy, that he was a backstabber. As he dies of hunger/thirst/who knows, he sees a vision of backstabber spotting his next victim. The end of video shows a poster of red head missing, as the police start to pull up to the club backstabber is to arrest him. Theory 2: The phrase "Pineapples are in my head" could be a reference to the pineal gland, a gland in the brain that is responsible for producing melatonin, which regulates sleep patterns. The video suggests that the red headed guy is heartbroken as his lover betrayed him(knife guy) or committed suicide(she took her plunge), and is having insomnia due to that. The scene that shows the countryside road thing is a metaphor for feeling lost. He starts to run away from reality, and abandons his past self, shown at the end of the video where he metaphorically plunges off the bridge to "kill" his past self, and as he sinks into the ocean, he accepts the fact he will no longer be the same as his eyes change colour. With that, he changes his identity, perhaps removing all traces of his past self(although he can't change the government records), and starts a new life as the black haired guy, becoming a manipulative, backstabbing person. The second last scene shows him being interrupted from thinking back into the past, and outside, a poster showing his old face is blown away, symbolizing that his old self is no more. The sirens outside are the police pulling up to the club to arrest him as a suspect in the disappearance of red head(which isn't exactly true) Theory 3: Again, "Pineapples are in my head" stand for the pineal gland in the brain, which has been described by René Descartes as "the principle seat of the soul". The black haired guy that red haired guy sees in the mirror at the start of the video is like a modern version of Bloody Mary(maybe his hair looked like blood lol), he is an evil spirit/soul of some sort. Black haired guy can read people's minds, and sees how red haired guy has been heartbroken(broken heart on pineapple), betrayed(knife), abandoned(road in the middle of nowhere), and wants to run away from it all. He sees this as a chance to gain a physical form, and tricks red haired guy into trusting him. The pineapple plant is a symbol of welcomeness, which could be the case between red hair and black hair. He makes red haired guy's soul leave his body, taking him to a bridge, where he pushes him off and drowns the soul, forcing red hair's soul to pass on into the afterlife as black haired guy knows that souls are also somewhat mortal, and if met with the same fatal accidents that will kill a living person, the soul will be immediately taken to the afterlife. However, as red haired guy's soul is considered to have committed suicide, he is sent to Hell. As red hair plunges downwards, he looks into the fires of Hell, and sees black hair's soul laughing at his naiveness and taking over his body, morphing it to match the appearance he took as a soul. A girl looks into the bathroom and calls out to him as he is adjusting to the body. A few days later, posters of red haired guy are all over the place, having been deemed missing. The police siren is of the frantic officers searching for the missing boy, and perhaps of Hell's soldiers being sent to find black haired guy in order to make things right. Okay so here’s my theory. I’m guessing that the main character is a girl, because of the thighs and the line “she took a plunge”. So she was in a relationship with the guy in jacket washing his hands. Their relationship had a tie to the water, making the girl think about it whenever she sees it. Something must have happened to them, because I think the girl thinks her boyfriend is dead. Maybe he thought she was annoying because she absolutely adored him and he needs an excuse to get rid of her. And that death was not good for her. She is torn by this and can’t take anymore. It’s destroying her inside and she can’t think straight. So, thinking that the man is dead, she decides to kill herself so she can be with him. But in reality, he is alive and well and is actually with another woman, and she killed herself for nothing. That’s what I interpreted through this.

The character is high, she's seeing things. Lets say she thought she jumped off a bridge, into water. Perhaps she actually jumped from a building or something, and landied instead in this man's arms. He takes her home, does something to her, and kills her, explaining the missing poster. Either that, or he hides her, also an explanation. I read the pinned comment, and it seems much more consistent than mine. I pulled this from the top of my head, so I didn't really go deep.
I think this animation is about an anxious person who built up the strength to go to a party, but while there another person drugged them which is why they woke up in that weird place. After they ran away, they thought they were safe but the man followed them and pushed them in the water. Still having the effects of the drug, they couldn't swim up, leaving them have no one and brain dead. What I really love about this is how unique it is. Most animation memes are mainly repetition of small animated pieces, while in this the scenes change, the character moves differently in every frame and there seems to actually be a story present and visuals to give depth to the character.

I really like this because it’s way different than the normal animation meme videos. Lots of them are just characters bobbing up and down whilst changing occasionally when the music gets creepy. This one really tells a story and has a lot of different fluid motions.
Ok so my theory is this: This person suffers from some form of multiple personality disorder and possibly psychosis that causes them to dissociate and create these flowing images or at least that's what they see. The 'pineapples' in there head could be there way of trying to explain what it feels like or how they are defending into madness further, it is common for people with such disorders to use weird examples or say things that don't make sense to other but do to them. Maybe one of the personalities (darker) is more prone to violence and crime as shown by the knife being dropped onto the brain and the sinister expression shown in almost every shot of them. The red personality is kinder and doesn't agree with this and when they wake up in the midst of whatever crime the darker is committing they are concerned and confused 0:11. Eventually however the red personalty feels trapped and guilty show by 0:13 and this drives their metaphorical death by jumping off of the bridge which then gives the darker full control over the body. The shot at the end could be symbolising that red is gone consequently leaving darker in charge. So we see them last looking sinister, because they have taken over and don't have to deal with red.
my crappy theory: (be warned it include s squips) so the person washing their hands is the black haired one (changed self) and remembers their squip, the one in the mirror. They remember the red haired person that their squip told them to follow, stalk, and push to suicide. They did as the squip said, and followed them initially through dark alleys next to a train and through roads,and ended up stalking them out of state/city. The red haired person couldnt take it anymore, so they took the plunge to relieve the pain of being stalked and backstabbed. The squip is at the bottom, happy because of their death. In the end black haired person shakes off the past and leaves the bathroom. (sorry bout their/person, i just didnt know their pronouns)

My theory is that the red haired person was tortured or bullied to the point of committing suicide. I believe this was the black haired one's plan for the red haired one to kill themselves. The pineapple scene at the beginning was them debating with them self about suicide or not. The red head finally came to the conclusion to do it as they think the black haired one will just kill them anyway. The black haired one is happy that the other is dead and is does not regret it. But I it still follows them later as to the (metaphorical) blood in the sink. I say later because now they seem to have a partner, a wife or girlfriend.

This is amazing, let me just list why this is so amazing.
1. ITS ORIGINAL! Its not just a head bobbing up and down, no no no, we got ACTUAL animation!
2. The colors. They are so bright, yet they seem to match so well.
3. At 0:08 , it seems like cars are passing by a completely dark room. You pulled it off so well.
4. At 0:22 , the perspective changes constantly, as if a camera is following her every move.
THIS is an animation meme ladies and gentlemen!
I think this person metaphorically drowned their old self and became a new version of themselves, a version they were previously scared to become. They hate themselves for it and thus causes an eternal struggle within their mind, but they feel they can never go back. They see their old self as unlovable to everyone else, but their new self isn't who they feel they truly are.
This is just my simple take on it. Probably totally off but I'm just calling it like I see it.
My Theory: The red haired boy is on the run from a killer, the black haired girl with a knife. The red hair boy has split personality, the black haired boy, that actually exists in a different universe, and that can only be seen in a mirror. He learns that the killer is almost upon him, and he drives into the lake, which hold the portal for him to switch into the other body. The black haired girl and her companion, the girl in the dress at the end, are now trying to find the boy in the other body. They put up missing posters.
So, that's just my guess after watching it a couple of times, and it's a pretty bad theory. Beautiful animation btw
In my opinion, this is a really inventive use of this song-based challenge. The illusion of madness allows each scene to transition smoothly into the next, providing for us a consistent sense of flow. The use of colors is especially great to me because it gives the story a sense of otherworldliness. Great job.

The changing perspectives, transitions, and movements amaze me
Even though I found this masterpiece about two months ago and have been watching it in awe ever since, I have no idea why I'm commenting just now, but hey- better late than never.
So one day out of sheer curiosity I decided to click on an animation meme playlist. I can't call myself that big of a fan of 'em even now, but back then I had barely seen any. I watched a dozen- they were alright, as much as you can expect from an ordinary meme. But then, out of nowhere, on my screen unravels something extraordinary.
The surreal movement and dreamlike loopyness of this animation, along with the unique song was unseen and unheard by me before. By the end, although slightly confused about what I had just seen, I knew that it must've taken admirable amounts of time and skill to make.
This might sound kinda creepy (which it pretty much is), but for the next few days I couldn't stop thinking about it, that animation was just so surreal, I thought.
For a long time I had thought about potentially starting an animation project, but I wasn't all that sure how or with what to do it, animation was just this foreign concept that I could only dream about. But when I saw this masterpiece that used all the wonders and potential that animation could bring, I was inspired to start as well. And I did. Although I'm still a beginner and I haven't done any big projects yet, I'm striving to get to a point where I have enough skill to do something as great as this.
I know that the length of this comment might suggests that I'm being a troll (and frankly I can't blame you if you think so), but I'm being completely sincere.
So, if you somehow got to the end of this big ramble, thank you, Sugar. Thank you for creating what I can confidently call one of my favourite animations ever and in general being a great role model and artist!

Theory 1: Red haired guy was probably in love, manipulated, and used by knife guy, and when he realised it he was so heartbroken that he tried to confront him, but was knocked unconcious by knife guy and dragged off into the middle of nowhere. He started to hallucinate as a result of being close to death after days of wandering, having visions of plummenting from the bridge into the water, and seeing the "evil side" of knife guy, that he was a backstabber. As he dies of hunger/thirst/who knows, he sees a vision of backstabber spotting his next victim. The end of video shows a poster of red head missing, as the police start to pull up to the club backstabber is to arrest him.
Theory 2:
The phrase "Pineapples are in my head" could be a reference to the pineal gland, a gland in the brain that is responsible for producing melatonin, which regulates sleep patterns. The video suggests that the red headed guy is heartbroken as his lover betrayed him(knife guy) or committed suicide(she took her plunge), and is having insomnia due to that. The scene that shows the countryside road thing is a metaphor for feeling lost. He starts to run away from reality, and abandons his past self, shown at the end of the video where he metaphorically plunges off the bridge to "kill" his past self, and as he sinks into the ocean, he accepts the fact he will no longer be the same as his eyes change colour. With that, he changes his identity, perhaps removing all traces of his past self(although he can't change the government records), and starts a new life as the black haired guy, becoming a manipulative, backstabbing person. The second last scene shows him being interrupted from thinking back into the past, and outside, a poster showing his old face is blown away, symbolizing that his old self is no more. The sirens outside are the police pulling up to the club to arrest him as a suspect in the disappearance of red head(which isn't exactly true)
Theory 3:
Again, "Pineapples are in my head" stand for the pineal gland in the brain, which has been described by René Descartes as "the principle seat of the soul". The black haired guy that red haired guy sees in the mirror at the start of the video is like a modern version of Bloody Mary(maybe his hair looked like blood lol), he is an evil spirit/soul of some sort. Black haired guy can read people's minds, and sees how red haired guy has been heartbroken(broken heart on pineapple), betrayed(knife), abandoned(road in the middle of nowhere), and wants to run away from it all. He sees this as a chance to gain a physical form, and tricks red haired guy into trusting him. The pineapple plant is a symbol of welcomeness, which could be the case between red hair and black hair. He makes red haired guy's soul leave his body, taking him to a bridge, where he pushes him off and drowns the soul, forcing red hair's soul to pass on into the afterlife as black haired guy knows that souls are also somewhat mortal, and if met with the same fatal accidents that will kill a living person, the soul will be immediately taken to the afterlife. However, as red haired guy's soul is considered to have committed suicide, he is sent to Hell. As red hair plunges downwards, he looks into the fires of Hell, and sees black hair's soul laughing at his naiveness and taking over his body, morphing it to match the appearance he took as a soul. A girl looks into the bathroom and calls out to him as he is adjusting to the body. A few days later, posters of red haired guy are all over the place, having been deemed missing. The police siren is of the frantic officers searching for the missing boy, and perhaps of Hell's soldiers being sent to find black haired guy in order to make things right.

Okay so here’s my theory.
I’m guessing that the main character is a girl, because of the thighs and the line “she took a plunge”. So she was in a relationship with the guy in jacket washing his hands. Their relationship had a tie to the water, making the girl think about it whenever she sees it. Something must have happened to them, because I think the girl thinks her boyfriend is dead. Maybe he thought she was annoying because she absolutely adored him and he needs an excuse to get rid of her. And that death was not good for her. She is torn by this and can’t take anymore. It’s destroying her inside and she can’t think straight. So, thinking that the man is dead, she decides to kill herself so she can be with him. But in reality, he is alive and well and is actually with another woman, and she killed herself for nothing.
That’s what I interpreted through this.

The character is high, she's seeing things. Lets say she thought she jumped off a bridge, into water. Perhaps she actually jumped from a building or something, and landied instead in this man's arms. He takes her home, does something to her, and kills her, explaining the missing poster. Either that, or he hides her, also an explanation.

I think this animation is about an anxious person who built up the strength to go to a party, but while there another person drugged them which is why they woke up in that weird place. After they ran away, they thought they were safe but the man followed them and pushed them in the water. Still having the effects of the drug, they couldn't swim up, leaving them have no one and brain dead. The guy went back to the party and after washing their hands they found another victim peering through the doorway. And the anxious smol was missing cause well they died rip. What I really love about this is how unique it is. Most animation memes are mainly repetition of small animated pieces, while in this the scenes change, the character moves differently in every frame and there seems to actually be a story present and visuals to give depth to the character.

I love this!!! It's so smooth, original, art style is so amazing and unique, even the color palet is choosen so well!!!
I really like this because it’s way different than the normal animation meme videos. Lots of them are just characters bobbing up and down whilst changing occasionally when the music gets creepy. This one really tells a story and has a lot of different fluid motions.
Ok so my theory is this: This person suffers from some form of multiple personality disorder and possibly psychosis that causes them to dissociate and create these flowing images or at least that's what they see. The 'pineapples' in there head could be there way of trying to explain what it feels like or how they are defending into madness further, it is common for people with such disorders to use weird examples or say things that don't make sense to other but do to them. Maybe one of the personalities (darker) is more prone to violence and crime as shown by the knife being dropped onto the brain and the sinister expression shown in almost every shot of them. The red personality is kinder and doesn't agree with this and when they wake up in the midst of whatever crime the darker is committing they are concerned and confused 0:11. Eventually however the red personalty feels trapped and guilty show by 0:13 and this drives their metaphorical death by jumping off of the bridge which then gives the darker full control over the body. The shot at the end could be symbolising that red is gone consequently leaving darker in charge. So we see them last looking sinister, because they have taken over and don't have to deal with red.

my crappy theory: (be warned it include s squips) so the person washing their hands is the black haired one (changed self) and remembers their squip, the one in the mirror. They remember the red haired person that their squip told them to follow, stalk, and push to suicide. They did as the squip said, and followed them initially through dark alleys next to a train and through roads,and ended up stalking them out of state/city. The red haired person couldnt take it anymore, so they took the plunge to relieve the pain of being stalked and backstabbed. The squip is at the bottom, happy because of their death. In the end black haired person shakes off the past and leaves the bathroom. (sorry bout their/person, i just didnt know their pronouns)
