Thanks for sharing my paddle design, Charlie. I think your review scores were fair, or even generous. This paddle isn't perfect, but for the incredibly low cost, it's a marvel. That was my goal with the design - simplicity, affordability, and high-performance. I think I accomplished all of those.
I really had fun using this paddle. Thanks! I forgot about the delicate nature of those hinges, I agree with a C grade on durability. I hope viewers check out the comments here as I suggest because this isn't the first time I've been convinced that a grade should be different. But, YES, this checks all the boxes in my opinion. Just wish I had a printer. I broached the idea with Sandy. Maybe someday soon!
I wish there was an easy 3rd party service to print them for us, full-time RVing is hard just to bring any printer let alone a 3-D, lol. I want four just for my SOTA/POTA packs for both primary & backup use. Cheers, Davey - KU9L
As a full-time RVer I do not have access to a 3-D printer, but this would be great for some of the QRP clubs out there selling kits to offer to their customers for a license fee to Adam. I would buy several for my SOTA/POTA packs, even perhaps as a backup paddle for the pack if your primary paddle loses a part, lol. Thanks for reviewing & now I just have to dream about it, lol. Cheers, Davey - KU9L
That paddle is one of my favorites to use in the field! I actually just designed a modified version of the paddle that mounts to the bottom of an Elecraft KX2. If you want to print it, check the remix section of Adam's project on printables and my project should be there.
I feel like the size of the parts lends this design to scroll saw cutting wood components, and sanding/finishing them. It would look really nice and possibly be more durable.
Great review... But how many kits come with all the links for all the needed and optional.components? Plus there is a slack group... Plus if it breaks swap out spare printed parts cheaply. Customer svs score is a bit low.. yikes.
I can see your point for sure. Adam was very thorough providing details, and hopefully people enjoy the build and don't need assistance. I think that is the overall point for Adam. Still, as you point out it feels like he's gone above and beyond and deserves credit for that! Thank you so much for watching, leaving a relevant comment, and indicating that you liked the review. 73 my friend
Hi Mark - the hinge is quite delicate and can separated easily if you hit it just right. Temperature can affect the durability too. However, it is enclosed and if you aren't rough with it, I think it will be fine long term.

It's a great design Adam. I've used mine on a bunch of SOTA activations and it's been solid. Thanks for sharing it with the community!!
Thanks for the review Red! One day I’ll get around to building Adam’s single lever version!
Thanks. Yes! That one looks very interesting and should be a fun build. GL

Hi Davey - it's a great paddle! I'm in the same boat. I sure wish I had a 3D printer. What paddle do you use as your primary for SOTA right now?
Actually got notified this video. Love ya brother
Awesome, Jay. Thanks for the note my friend!

Excellent! I'm glad you posted this information here. I hope the KX2 crowd sees it. Thanks!
Thanks for the review Charlie
Hi Pat - nice to see you again. Can't imagine you are out doing much SOTA up there with this winter, but spring is near! Thanks
@@RedSummitRF hi Charlie. So far this winter I’ve done 10 peaks, all on skis. Great activations and for the most part, great skiing.
You are an animal, Pat. Should have known you would be out there, regardless. Sounds awesome!

Thinking about that concept . . . it sure would be a cool paddle!
