I knew the latest generation of DJI drones had cruise control, but I assumed that meant just forward motion. Really cool that it also maintains vertical speed as well! I have tried emulating your orbits that you do manually. It made me realize the mad skills that you have! Happy New Year to you and Sarah!
I never knew you could use the cruise control like that. I always just used it in straight lines that now gives me something new to play with. Thanks for sharing my friend. Happy holidays to you and your family, and I am looking forward to some more videos in the new year. 😁👌👍🇬🇧
Hi Marcus, very interesting video trying out these quite difficult manoeuvres manually and I guess experimenting with different method is worth a try. I found using the point of interest and once in motion I simply moved the drone away or up which I have used in quite a few of my flights. I have seen you use this method and it is very effective in your orbits. Nice now that the Mini 4 has an auto flight routine to do it all for you. Hope you and the family had a fab Christmas and wishing you all a super 2024 🎉
Dear Marcus, you and your family 👪 Merry Christmas 🤶 and a good transition into the new year 2024 🥂 Kind regards from Germany 🇩🇪 and here's to many new tests in 2024. With best regards, Peter.
Hya Marcus, Old Man Winter has finally found us here in Florida as well. I want to ask you about a fancy move in another way when time allows. Do the cell tower but add this if possible. I will try this tomorrow if I can with the cold as well with the Mini 4 Pro. Set up same shot, select target object, start rotation but be zoomed in to 3X. As you start rising try to get a slow zoom out at the same time in Cibe node. So then hit cruise control. So you will add a very slow zoom out, rising, rotating, and backing up and the ffect should be really exciting. So start rotate, rise slowly, and back out but also zooming out then hit cruise control. I will post what happens tomorrow as I have all latest updates just yesterday but I had to go to the office today. Then food shopping so dark well before I arrive home. We had a lot of rain days recently, and very busy at work 2 days a week. I had little time to fly recently. It only gets comfortable at mide day and I am not able to get out much because of house work, etc. I cook my own food so have to prepare all my dishes as well. I do NOT eat out as the food is less than desirable. I have not see the higher capacity batteries for sale yet for the Mini 4 Pro either. I use the mini 3 batteries sometimes but it is heavier and does not fly a long time. I want to get a hold of the larger Mini 4 Pro batteries one day. The battery that comes with the drone is almost 10 charges now so it is getting much stronger. The listing is confusing as typed so I am not sure exactly what is being sold. I purchased a great set of adjustable nd filters on amazon, 5 position from 4 to 32 and a secone one 64 to 512. When mounted you just set 1 to 5 on one or 6 to 9 on the second one. They are very good and a great price, even a bit less than freewell which I like as well. They are fulfilled by Amazon from BRDRC, nice magnetic case, and a spot for the original lens glassless cover to keep it safe while using an nd filter attachment. They work extremely well and simply turn to a setting but I turn off the drone if I want to change it because the gimbal fights movement and I do not want to force it at all. It is amazing trying it though as it is amazing how strong that gimbal motor is. I was surprised how powerful it was but will never fight with it to make a change on the ND filter even though it is easy to dial I do NOT like messing with the gimbal when the drone is powered up. If you fly a long time you need to change the nd as it control light input during a day out flying obviousily. Good to see you out there testing and flying. I turned 77 this January but still work as I love the added income so I do not know when I will sell this home and retire but I still feel good and have no issues. It is hard to die for some, LOL. Ray C in Floooooooooorda as the weather channel calls it. HEHE
Pretty cool, Marcus! To make these a bit easier, you could try my method of "adding another stick movement - one at a time." By which you start an orbit, hit cruise start, next -add a touch of throttle, semi-long press cruise (about a half second, just a firm, slightly longer press, not a tap) - it will say "cruise updated" if you nail it". -finally, do a touch of reverse pitch, press the assigned cruise button a tiny bit long again. I covered it a while back, but you did the complex move method so well. One might think you've got a touch of experience at this stuff!
That also helps me too, I set my sticks then I must stab the C2 button before I upset this neer perfect coarse. Quite a few times I think I pressed the wrong button.
That answers my question about what happens when you give stick input while in cruise control- it adds that input to whatever it's already doing. Very nice to know- thanks! I get mine in 3 days, and I'm really looking forward to it. I have a few other questions, like is there a way to "lock" the camera onto something (moving or stationary) and have the drone remain pointed at it regardless of stick input? It might be a dumb question, but that alone would be very helpful when I'm getting video of my friend kiteboarding. I'd like to be able to orbit around him while travelling alongside/behind/in front of him. It would be nice to be able to concentrate on keeping the drone out of the way of the kite and not on keeping him in the center of the frame. Any thoughts on this?
@jeffreypeters7826 Yes. Spotlight mode is your answer. While flying in video mode (recording or not, but video selected) stop, draw a box around a subject. That bring up "FocusTrack" - a set of 3 features... Active Track, POI, and by default you are in Spotlight. Just fly. Everywhere within range, except over and past the object, which can lose the visual lock. Start recording. There you go. Just remember to disable it (small x on the onscreen box, or tap the pause/stop button. Otherwise you won't be able to fly away or land, as it insists on keeping the subject centered on the camera. Hope that helps.
@@BlairAir Thanks- that is immensely helpful! That's the main reason I wanted this drone. I'm looking forward to Saturday when it arrives. Meanwhile, I'm watching a ton of RUclips about it. Thanks again!
I really like spotlight mode and haven't used the cruise control a lot yet. Spotlight is great when I'm chasing boats over the Intercostal and going to try cruise control next time as most of the boats are going a consistent speed and once I lock on it that will just take one thing off my concentration. I'm loving all the tech on the Mini 4 Pro.
Very awesome shot. Were you on cine mode normal mode from the beginning? I'll order for my mini 4 soon I can see the way you are enjoying the little Boss. I'm still waiting for your review on the new updates. My regards to the entire family and I wish you Merry Christmas and a happy new year ahead of us. Stay blessed and safe all the time Amen. Welbeck here
I am sitting here trying to imagine how to work that one out, with pencil and paper. (Weather is bad in the UK) Gave it up. Thanks for the demo, try not to make it look so easy. Ha
Ever since I got my dji air 3,I always use cruise control. it is 1 less thing I have to worry about.i am new to drones but not flying.i have been flying gas powered rc planes since Ronald Reagan, lol😅
Nice drone but the price is ridiculous for what you get. I don't like paying that much extra just for some little fancy features that I might use or might not. There are a lot of drones out there with just as high of resolution cameras. $800 would be more sound price for this drone but some people have more money than sense. DGI owners are called in of itself.
It's a beautiful day in the neighborhood! Merry Christmas to you Marcus! 👈🥸👉 Remember! DJI just gifted us new firmware for the Air 3 and Mini 4 Pro! Great updates!
The colors of the trees are amazing... Thank you Marcus 👌🏼
Thank you! That was a great day to fly.
Hey Marcus! Awesome video. And the location looks wonderful too! Which town is it ?
Thank you!
You just about flew the drone into those trees on that street!
All in all, good vid! Thank you
The drone's APAS did its job. 👍👍 Thank you.
I always enjoy your “winter” posts harkening back to warmer days. Thanks for the techniques demonstrated here and the beautiful fall color.
Thank you George! More to come.
Thanks Marcus! That street has beautiful fall color leaves!
Thank you very much!
Nice explanation and demonstration, you are an asset to the drone community, love watching your content. Please keep them coming.
Thank you Rick! I so appreciate that!
Very good coordination on the sticks, Marcus!
Thank you John! 🤣

Hi Marcus.....Cruise control is such a nice feature. I only have it on the Mavic 3........👍
Thank you Jim! I agree it’s a great feature.
Man! I'm glad I'm mainly a photographer! This video stuff is tough!
Ha! yes, the editing is really a steep learning curve! 🤣
@@IdahoQuadcopter😆 For me the actual videography/film making. I suck at it!
Merry Christmas 🎄🎁
Happy holidays!
Wooo! Very interesting video mate 🔥👍 well done my friend 😍

Using cruise controls along with POI was very clever. You got some nice results. Thanks for sharing Marcus. Happy Holidays.
Thank you Ron!! Our New Years Day show is coming up soon!

Take care Ray! It's fun to mess around with these features that DJI gives us!
Coming in late to the comments. Love your videos Marcus. They calm my nerves down. 😑 Looking forward to another Updated Air 3 fight soon.
