    Old videos are the best videos! I still have this generation bottle and this video was extremely helpful.

    There is a much easier way to separate those small innermost parts. Just boil some water in a cup and let it stand for a moment until it stops boiling. Drop the valve body into the water and let it warm for a minute or two. Take it out and you'll be able to pry the two sections apart pretty easily... probably with no tools.

      Thanks for sharing. Just tried with hot water, it does make things much easier. Thank you

    Fantastic video, I had mould growing in mine, I used a flathead eyeglass screwdriver instead of the knife & pliers to pull the valve body out - I've scrubbed mine clean & will leave to air dry 😍

    Thank you! There was some nastiness in there that I couldn't manage to get clean until I saw your video. I used a pair of tweezers with flat ends to pry apart those two pieces.

    • @jimmywang2036
      @jimmywang2036  5 лет назад +1

      Yes, the fine fitment of the 2 pieces does need some effort to deal with.

    This is great! You asked for a suggestion on a substitute for using the knife. I used a sewing ripper. I put the sharp point under the seam, went around the cap a couple times and then went under the ring and it came off!

    You definitely need at least two bottles - one to use and one to store in the fridge. It's not always necessary to strip the blue valve. Use a toothbrush to clean inside the mouthpiece and scrub the top of the valve assembly with it, using hot soapy water. Rinse and reassemble. Every now and then I soak everything overnight in a bowl of water with a sanitizing tablet - also half a tablet in each bottle filled to the very top with water. They sell these tablets for cleaning baby bottles, so that's where you will find them in the store, and they're cheap. A couple of tips - I always always always wash my Camelbak bottles in super ultra hot water - wearing dishwashing gloves so as not to burn myself - then rinse and fill them with cold water and put them straight into the fridge. This regime of cleaning with very hot water and then storing in a cold fridge really cuts down on bacteria, so if you do this you will not have to strip the tops so often. Also, your water is always nice and cold when you set out. By the way, If you are going to use a tool to pop the retaining ring off the valve assembly, try a plastic picnic knife or you will damage it.

    I used a regular table knife to pry the two parts, it worked easily. And very little chance of a cut. No sharp edge.

  • @sillysalamander5173
    @sillysalamander5173 5 лет назад +1

    Wait im confused. So you cut the bottle so that it is easier to clean? Also does it not make it leak?

    • @jimmywang2036
      @jimmywang2036  5 лет назад +1

      No, there is no cutting involved in the whole process. The knife is only used as leverage tool to open the 2 piece. I now found a thinner butter knife could help me with the job which is much safer than using an actual knife in the video.

  • @davidstrong7854
