  • We spent a few hours on our Yamaha T7 at the Imperial Sand Dunes in southeast California. Despite having a worn-out a knobby tire instead of a paddle, the bike performed well. It handles sand better than any other ADV bike I've ridden.

    I think this bike is perfect for me. Had a GSA800 and a triumph Daytona 675. The GSA was phenomenal but every shock went out. Traction control would kick on while accelerating normally so I auctioned it off. As for the Daytona I certainly didn’t have the self control for a sports bike and ended up breaking my foot going too wide on a turn but man I felt invincible cornering the GSA. And me being 6ft 125 pounds I think the tenere is right where it’s at

    It is all about the rider, the bike is good but you are some sand rider man!
    Can't wait to get mine in June timeframe I think, It will fit right in between my XT1200 and my WR450F.

    That looked like fun. Impressed by the climbs in the beginning, made it look easy. With six gears does it have a "long" 1st/2d gear? The bike looks dope as and also lighter than it is. Do you feel the weight, especially in the soft stuff?

    • @CamelADV
      @CamelADV  4 года назад +3

      The gear is spot on for the intended purpose of the bike. 1st gear low enough to ride in technical terrain but not crazy low either. 1st-2nd spacing is good. I'd like 2-3 to be a bit closer though. I'm coming off an Africa Twin so the 450lb T7 seems like a dirtbike, very light and nimble.

    Compared to the f800gs to t700, what is your opinion in handling, weight feeling, power delivery and other things ?

    • @CamelADV
      @CamelADV  4 года назад +2

      The T7 is far better than the F800gs. The power delivery is perfect for offroad riding, much more low end torque, tough to stall. The ergonomics are spot on. On road handling is good too.

    • @ziadajam5433
      @ziadajam5433 Год назад

      I had a F800GSA never really had the chance to take it off-roading. Sure it had high miles but in the 3 months I had it somehow the front shocks and the rear shock blew. I weigh lighter than a feather, not sure if it’s related to blown shocks but whenever if accelerate the traction control would kick on and cut power as well as the handlebars counter, counter steering on low speeds if that makes sense. Before it developed all these issues the bike rode phenomenal a side from high speed freeway riding (noticeable vibrations) but that bike felt much better cornering than my sport bike

    • @CamelADV
      @CamelADV  4 года назад +8

      @@Hoopster250 The 790R suspension is much better for hard fast riding. The T7 is plusher but has decent bottoming resistance too. I'm way too heavy for the stock suspension on either bike so I'm not the best person to ask! Both bikes are in the shop for revalve/respring now. Once they are set-up I'll be able to give you a better answer.
