Don't let this distract you from the fact that Hector is gonna be running three Honda Civics with Spoon engines, and on top of that he just came into Harry's and he ordered three T66 Turbo's with NOS.....And a MoTec system exhaust.
I'd like to point that it is spoon version so I wouldn't be surprised if they had messed around the ECU and engine. You can see the cover is different color meaning there was some work done to it (obviously beside painting the cover)
This is a Spoon FN2. Its got a K20a swap. K20as make 250 hp with simple mods. The FN2 originally came with with a K20z4 engine with 198 hp like you said.
@@saradomin88 I think they rebuilt and blueprinted the original engine instead. The RSP cylinder head casting is the same between the FD2 version of the K20A and the K20Z4 in the FN2, they are both the revised improved casting compared to the RBC version in the earlier gen or the FA5/FG2. From what I recall, Spoon kept the original RSP long-runner intake manifold too, instead of going for an RRC from the K20A. The only difference between the physical K20A & K20Z4 engines are the compression of the pistons, the oil pump assembly and the cam profile (crankshaft, valves, conrods etc are all the same). So if Spoon just rebuilt the original engine with higher compression pistons, the K20A oil pump (& matching baffled sump) and put in their Spoon cams, then it would be identical (or superior) to a K20A long block anyway. :)
MElekiaZ - I would want the 226 hp from fd2 in the fn2. I really prefer the looks of the fn2, but I agree with you anyway. Why keeping a 226 hp model only for them selves?
All those modifications done to the FN2 and it just barely beats a bone stock FD2, yet some people still argue that the FN2 isn't the worst Type R model that Honda has ever produced, and before you say anything the EP3 Civic Type R that we've got are the Japanese-spec models, not the less powerful, softer suspension, longer gearing and open diff European-spec models.
Clutch kick. You can use this if you need to raise the revs up when you are in a higher gear. For example if you went into a corner in 3rd, instead of second and your revs have dropped, you can kick the clutch while on throttle to raise the revs and help acceleration without changing down a gear.
FN2 is 250PS (Spoon edition) with lots of bars to stiff the chassis installed. 1320kg + weight of new bars so maybe 1330-1340kg FD2 is 225PS (Stock) and the entire car looks stock to be honest. 1270kg The FD2 has a longer wheelbase and is lighter making it a much more stable car in high speed bends. The chassis on the FD2 is far more technically advanced too, with use of lighter, but stronger materials and more welds. However the the extra bit of power and shorter wheelbase make the FN2 much more agile in the tight bends. The FD2 is on 18inch wheels vs the FN2's 17 inch. For this track it gave the FN2 the advantage as it was able to accelerate quicker out of the corners, due to less unsprung weight as well as less inertia. If I had to choose I would pick the fn2. not because it won, but it's just a far better looking car. The FD2 is a better built civic though. But if i COULD really choose, it would have to be the FN2 Mugen. 260PS, more torque, lighter, better looking again over the standard type r fn2.
@@Juicyshadowz These days the FD2R is around 3x the price of an FN2 (with good examples of the FD2R asking as much as a one or two-year-old FK8R!), so I'm not sure it is worth the premium, then again it is a future classic, and the FN2 is not, so I dunno. But the FN2 is much more comfy, so it does the role of a Prelude VTEC type everyday car better. If you just want to go as fast as possible with a circuit Civic, you could do a K20A swap into an EK or EG. :)
sure, what about putting fd's k20a engine (as stock as possible) inside an fn? I can guarantee fd wouldn't even be able to put a gap between both. Maybe it might lead through out the whole race, but i'd say it's gonna be a neck and neck race. No cap.

FN2 type R is only 198BHP in the UK.
Not 250, as per description.
Japanese always keep their best for domestic market only.
