While everyone else is joking about whether to opening the wrapping or not, I wonder which god-tier quality is that paper made of.
I was asking that too. Most gift wrap will have torn by now.
I want to know what weight this paper is.
That looks close to 160gsm card stock
The texture reminds me of leather.
tbh I feel like the thickness was seriously unnecessary - you can see how hard it was to make some of those smaller folds, as well as how much effort it took to get the lower portion to neatly conform to the shape of the box.

I do wrap empty boxes like these to decorate around my Christmas tree. The actual gifts will only have regular wrappings because they are supposed to be torn out.
I'm just imagining picking up like a burger for my coworker and coming back with it wrapped in a box like that

I immediately had to make some trees (sans stem) from thick white paper to add them to my door wreath. This was really easy because of your fantastic tutorial. Thank you so much!!!♥
To those without bone folder: you can use the blunt back of a knife instead.
To make these trees into hanging ornaments just pull some nice string with a needle from the inside through the tip of the top piece. Knot the end. I also added a small brass bead to the top to give my wreath some shine.
Now onto wrapping some boxes ... ;-)
Wrapping like this you could gift the silliest things and get away with it.

i had a book on japanesse wrapping, i lost it and it was very frustrating.

I like how you show exactly how much paper is needed based on size of a box that's being used. This way anyone can easily adjust and measure, how much they need for their box and still follow your guide.

For real - I came for the tree, but the general wrapping method seems much more efficient and looks amazing; I may actually try this.

Even just the first part, with the diagonal folds on top, looks really cool.
If I get someone some jewllery, I might do the whole thing some time but that first bit before the tree seems pretty achievable and a really cool thing to do for all gifts.

Beautiful! I always try to make the wrapping just as much a part of the gift as what’s under the paper, this is an elegant way to really make a statement.
Cutting your wrapping paper to fit is probably the biggest game changer. I used to work on the fragrance counter of a department store, we offered gift wrapping, having paper that’s _not_ oversized makes ALL the difference.
Edited to add, I still do all the gift wrapping at home, I never use sellotape, just string and a dot of sealing wax and my favourite season the wax. Classic, classy and environmentally sound.

I'm sometimes wrapping xmas-gifts at work, and then it's usually 10-50 identical items. I will now start practicing that first part (the one before you add the tree) because it looks like it would actually be a much quicker way of wrapping gifts, let alone with a much prettier result!

most of the east asian content is either grandpa amu or some guy eating the whole time ... either way it's still awesome to see the master work some people put into their life ... such as making a dish to eat that is as much art as it is delicious ... or something so simple like a stool that folds into a plank ... or wrap a gift that could be anything inside and the person getting it would admire the wrapping more than want to get inside it

I’ve never come across paper was that thick and big enough and flexible enough to do that.
I feel like most average quality wrapping paper would (the ones at stationery shops or markets). But yeah, the cheap $2 rolls would probably rip. I actually save the nice paper I get from my florist throughout the year and reuse those.
Well, even though it’s not rocket science, it’s definitely magic!

This paper seems pretty sturdy. What paper is that and what would be a good replacement in case we cant get that specific paper?

Her website says it's "specialty paper" apparently she special orders it from a company. It isn't sold anywhere online like amazon
If you are in the United States, Jillson Robert makes a very heavy, crisp wrapping/gift paper and can be found on Amazon. I've purchased 400' rolls for less than $75. (I wrap a lot.)
I have no idea but try looking up origami wrapping paper maybe that will give you some products you can use :)
