- New Order on Top of the Pops August 1987. When most artists mimed, here they are singing and playing live. An excellent performance, and just listen to Peter Hook on that Bass guitar!

How many bands actually did their performances truly live on Top of the pops?
It was quite a rarity.
@@IngramCars I thought so most I've seen videos of were mimed was that the show forcing them or the artists choosing to do so?
@@dustinsudkamp3722 it was probably to do with record/CD sales. Apparently New Order stated the sales of their record dropped when they appeared Live!
@@IngramCars ouch they sounded just like the studio or close to it from what I heard so how that dropped sales boggles my mind
@@dustinsudkamp3722 Unlike The Tube, the BBC couldn't spend hours waiting on every band setting up and rehearsing prior to the live broadcast . Most of this performance is not live, the Yamaha QX1 is doing the bulk of the drums, bass and keyboards. Still a good effort though and the vocals and guitar/bass solos are clearly live.
