Your review maintained focus and didn't go off at a tangent and it also mentioned many things many of us won't be aware of (especially the left and right flight). I just received my new Mini 3 Pro a couple of days ago and just waiting for my care refresh plan to turn up before going out to try it. Great video again with content l haven't seen elsewhere. You showed us how to take off from the hand. Do you have any tips about hand landing? I've seen other videos where the drone is caught, then quickly twisted on its side to stop the props. Thanks for another valuable, instructional video. One tidbit I discovered when following the advice to switch my phone to Airplane mode to avoid distractions while flying, is that I must return to WiFi mode in order to use DJI's Quick Transfer function to move images from the Mini 2 to my phone.
Appreciate this video. I'm about 1 week into owning my new Mini 3 Pro. Learned some good stuff here. One thing I'm frustrated with is the Active Track. I was in an open field on an ATV and it simply would not stay on me. I kept getting error messages that would not let me switch it on. Guess I will keep playing around with it. Thanks again.
Could you teach us what features are affected not having GPS when using the DJI RC? and how to optimize things, such as downloading a map before we fly. And of that meter how do we download a map and from where? is there a GPS ad-on, or can we pair our iphone (in pocket) with the ap? Thank you
I'm planning to travel to France and Spain from Toronto Canada next summer and would like to bring my new Mini 3 Pro with me. Wondering if you had any advice for flying in new country before I get there.
Great tips! Can you find a way and share how to attach the gimbal guard without it feeling like you will snap it off? I rarely put mine on because of this worry.
Absolutely. It’s a little awkward I agree. The two easiest ways I find are to hold the gimbal straight with my finger as I put the guard on, or hold the drone vertically and this makes it much simpler to slider the guard on without the gimbal rotating down and preventing it from fitting right. Hope that helps!
It came with foam.. save and put back in place before protector. I find as long as slightly tilt and put top notch just before bottom holding level. Then bottom two round notches in. Take of same way. And do slowly.. always.. 💪💪👊👊
Hey Matthew, Love your videos and learn a lot of things from you! Can you please explain why is the image that comes out of my mini 2 camera and video are totally different? I was trying to change the setting but looks like the pic mode is more vivid and the video more brown image… Thank you 🙏
Totally a newbie using drones and just got a mini 3 pro yesterday. Excited as I am, I watched most of your videos so as to gain confidence as I can before practicing with the actual flight. Thanks a lot Matt! This is very helpful!
Tks Mattheww. Bought this as my first drone. Still need to master the controls. Great tip about controlling the gimbal. Is there a way to customise the left gimbal scroll wheel to be opposite, ie push for down and pull for up on the N1 (without screen) controller?
great tips! thanks. but I'm having a hard time getting my mini 3 to do the Dolly Zoom thing. followed your instructions to the letter but it's still not doing it.
Thanks Mattheww!. Fired mine up for the first time today, had trouble updating firmware, kept quitting at 71% but did a search on the FB group and then did it via DJI assistant. After changing some settings, went for a test flight in the back garden and couldn't understand why I couldn't go left or right... now I know! Thanks again and keep up the good work! 👍
I had someone send me a message the other day asking why it wouldn't fly left or right. Confused me to begin with, then I realized that bypass and "disable sideways flight" might be automatically on for some. Hope this helps, thanks for watching!
@@sleepingbearffg5008 Haven't tried a distance test, bit blustery here. Not that I ever flew more than 600m with my old Mavic Pro. This thing is going to be more difficult to spot!
@@paolobacardi I flew fpv so I just use screen. And flew over friends property. My kids ride dirt bikes on. I suppose 400feet is far enough. If that's what they say right. Lucky not 100 feet they think is safe right? God bless
Fastest way to get it is directly from DJI. You can have it delivered in two weeks if you buy the version with the fancy controller. Otherwise, the DJI eBay store has some available for delivery around the 19th of July.
I would like to know if it's possible for one person to control flight with the RC while another person controls the camera (maybe with the app or with another controller).
Awesome.......two really great things I learned by watching...... 1. Dolly effect......really cool, cant wait to try it out and 2. The blades when stowing......Until just now, I had feared a blade snag when entering / extracting from case and have been pondering getting a strap like my air2S.......well, thankyou for the awesome tip, now I'm good! Thanks!
Thanks for all this Matthew. When the Mavic mini three arrived there was a rectangle of black foam supporting the Gimble. Of course you take it out to operate the drone but would you put it back in again and then put the Gimble cover over in order to prevent the gamble and camera being shaken about when you pack it in the bag?
Can't seem to get the Easy Dolly Zoom to work. When going back the Zoom goes from x1 to x2. It doesn't Zoom like how you show in the video. Great video 👍
Hi Matt, Only just found your page. I'm a Mini 3 Pro pilot in waiting (next week) and I'm gathering as much information as possible. Your channel is fantastic and I find myself saving every video for snippets of information for later on! Thank you. Rich
If you want the full quality Mini 3 footage you need one in the drone. The RC SD card doesn't record your main video, just the RC screen recordings in low quality.
Thank you William. ML beat me to it. The SD card slot on the controller is for screen recordings, to get the full quality videos and photos you need to put the SD card in the drone. Thanks!
That internal storage saved me last night with my air 2s. I got my mini 3 pro today and can’t wait to get home and play with it. Batteries are charged as I got my fly more bundle the other day. Ready to set up and go. Can’t wait to try the RC remote!
Thanks Matthew for this useful video, I have a question and if possible to know your opinion or from other followers and is about the advantage of the remote control with built in display over the remote control with out display, the advantage I see on the one with no display, is that on the phone you can use other apps than the DJI, like Litchie, do you know if the remote control with display allows also the use of a phone app? or will be conflicting? I use a lot pre defined flights with Litchie to have an overview of a plantation, currently have a phantom 3 pro but it get damaged and checking for a new one but not sure about the right choice.
You always explain things exceedingly well, Mattheww. I am watching all of your tips and reviews to help me decide whether I want to go from my Mini 2 to the Mini 3 Pro-or maybe the Air 2S. The RC controller for the Mini 3 Pro really has me inching toward it. The dimming of the iPhone in heat/sun when flying the Mini 2 is always a problem. Cheers from Wisconsin.
Thank you George, appreciate that. I have to say, I LOVE the RC Controller. It is an absolute joy to use. Quick to boot up and a great screen. I highly recommend it.
Try putting your phone on airplane mode and low power mode when you are using it as the controller. I do that with mine and it reduces heat by a lot. Let me know if that works for you. If not I’ll give you another tip
Thanks Mattheww. I have a extra tip and a request. When tapping the screen to set exposure on object of interest you can also activate a slider beside the yellow square to fine tune that exposure . Like on a iPhone camera app. Quid pro quo. Can you do a short video on using screen record. I assume it will record to the micro SD card, mine is 256 GB, inserted in the controller, but when I hit screen record in the "secret" menu a error always pops up saying there not enough space to record. I don't get it. Cheers
Hi Matthew, what are your thoughts about the differences, aside from the price, of the DJI RC Controller vs the DJI RC Pro Controller for the DJI Mini 3 Pro? Would there be any advantages of using the RC Pro controller over the standard RC Controller and is it worth paying the extra for the RC Pro controller? Thanks
Nice Video! Haven't crashed my drone yet, and hope not too. Love flying my Mini 3. With 4fly more batteries and one standard, have more than enough juice to keep me in the air for few hours! Keep up the good work
Very helpful! Mine comes this Tuesday and I fly out to Iceland Saturday so these kinds of tips are very valuable to help me adjust to the new drone in a very short time
@Matheww good video on tips. Thanks. Quick question: what happens with “Find my drone” when the Mini3Pro overheats and shuts off? Pondering…any thoughts?
Is there any way to reverse the direction of the gimbal wheel? I just find it really counter intuitive that push doesn't go down and pull doesn't go up.
What he didn't mention in the video regarding subtitles is that the subtitles are implemented using the same subtitle method used for movies on video, which is a complimentary data file called an *.SRT* file. This is a file which is separate from the video file (.mp4, .avi, etc.), and it contains the actual subtitle words (in the case of a movie) or subtitle flight data (in the case of the drone) which are overlaid onto the video when the video is played back. The .srt file is located in the same directory (folder) as each video file, and in fact the subtitles in the .srt file will not load onto the video if the .srt file is not in the same directory as the video file. This is also why only certain video players (VLC for example) can play subtitles: because the player is what syncs the .srt file with the video file.
Valuable tips here! This is very helpful! Thanks! We notice that our Mini 3 Pro constantly changes the camera settings back to default - mp4/normal/h264. Does this happen after firmware updates? Do you have any insight on this?
I am rebuilding a DJI mini 2 for a friend who crashed it. The front arms on the mini 2 swing out sideways, the back ones swing downwards and because of the way they back ones are attached to the drone they break away from the drone and cause minimal damage in a crash where the front ones cause the middle body to splinter and spear what ever is behind it which happens to be the very delicate communication cable for the gymbal. It seems that on the mini 3 pro. DJI swapped the arms around so that on the front, they will break away in a crash and will be cheaper and easier to repair.
I have a question regarding RTH, if I am on say a moving boat can I set the Mini 3 Pro to return to the controller rather than the take off point? thanks. PS great channel. berniepat
A couple of things first. I like the new look without glasses, nothing wrong about them but you look fresh and it shows! Now back to the comment, great video as always! I've been following you since you posted the Mini 2 videos and it is always nice to see someone sharing tips and tricks for anyone to learn. I wanted to ask you something, have you experienced any condensation inside the camera? I have checked in a couple of fb group and others have noticed that as well but I am not sure if my unit is defective or not. Could you research on this with your community and comment if you have noticed anything similar? Thanks!
Thank you, always like to hear I am looking fresh! ha! I will ask the community but personally I have had no issues with condensation inside the camera. Will report back if I hear anything, but I would certainly report this to DJI if it's happening to you.
Great video thanks 🙏!! Just got mine 3 mini pro, i was wondering if there is a way to send the drone to the same gps location twice or on different occasion, i do 360 drone panoramas, and it would be nice yo do a day 360 version and a night 360 version from the same gps position...thaxxx
Hello Mattheww, wonder if you might know why the Subject Scanning option is greyed out in my controller? It says, within brackets, that its only available for single-shot photos and normal video recording which I am. Everything else is working as you described. Thanks🙂
Great video Mattheww! Can you make a video on how you record the screen of the RC and then edit it together showing what the drone saw and the actions on the RC at the same time. Thanks!!
Good evening Matthew if you've got the sideways turn off do you are going in a straight line and then you he's an obstacle will it still be around it if you've got bypassed switched on or will it just stop?
I enjoy your videos specially because of the exotic accent of yours. Where are you from? Anyways… I’m flying the DJI mini 2 still, but I’ve been learning a lot from you. I makes me a bit afraid is mostly the wind. I’m in Greece right now and here is very windy. Thanks for all your lessons. Cheers.
Thank you! Northern Ireland. It has been very windy here too lately, but the drone handles it well. If you want smooth shots though, it's best to wait for the calmer days. Thanks for watching!
Am I not in danger of losing my drone when the wind is too strong? I mean… we are not having storms, but the north wind from Greece is considerably strong. Today 35 Km/h. Is that fine to fly? I know it may force more the battery.
Thanks Matthew I’ve been watching and learning so much from your videos - they’re very well put together and super informative. Thank you. I’ve subscribed 👍 and will continue to watch.
Thank you very much, very useful information! Do you have any idea if one use the standard remote connected to an iPhone is it possible to pan the camera using force touch on the iPhone screen? This is a standard procedure for Mavic family which I would love to have on mini 3 pro too.
Hello Matthew, thank you for your really helpful videos. I have video subtitles on and I am trying to view the drone telemetry using VLC Media player. The subtitles option in the menu in VLC is greyed out. Any idea why this could be? Thanks. Ian
One thing I didn’t realise using the rcn controller with my iPhone is that it doesn’t remember or register the position of the Cine/normal/sports switch. It always defaults to the normal mode when the drone starts even if switch is set to Cine (which I always want it to be in). Is this the same on the controller with the built in screen?

Thank you Graham, really appreciate that!
Just got mine today can't wait to actually use it
What he didn't mention in the video regarding subtitles is that the subtitles are implemented using the same subtitle method used for movies on video, which is a complimentary data file called an *.SRT* file.
Hi great videos, Question 🙋♀️ how many batteries come with it ?i just bought it , haven’t received it yet…thanks
I have a question regarding RTH, if I am on say a moving boat can I set the Mini 3 Pro to return to the controller rather than the take off point? thanks.
PS great channel.

Man, I gotta watch this again!
Thanks🙂
Same here… and it looks like we are not alone 😢
Which is the fastest method to transfer files - using Quick Transfer from the drone to an iPhone or using an SD Card - Lightning adapter?
Great video Mattheww! Can you make a video on how you record the screen of the RC and then edit it together showing what the drone saw and the actions on the RC at the same time. Thanks!!
Good evening Matthew if you've got the sideways turn off do you are going in a straight line and then you he's an obstacle will it still be around it if you've got bypassed switched on or will it just stop?
It will automatically fly around the obstacle if it can. Hope that helps!
@@TheDroneCreative Yes thank you
I enjoy your videos specially because of the exotic accent of yours.
@@fofesimo you don’t want to fly in anything above 8.5-10.5 m/s for the Mini 2.
Definitely some useful stuff in here!
Thanks Matthew I’ve been watching and learning so much from your videos - they’re very well put together and super informative. Thank you. I’ve subscribed 👍 and will continue to watch.
Glad you like them! Thanks for watching!
Very good info which I never thought available in the Mini 3 Pro. Thanks!
Hi Mattheww, another great and helpful video! Thanks 😊 Mine arrived yesterday, hopefully first flight tomorrow!
Thank you. That's super exciting - have you unboxed it yet?
@@TheDroneCreative Yea! All updated and ready to go. Used to fly model aircraft and I can’t wait to get it in the air! 😊
@@Morphaplasm Awesome! Enjoy! Let me know how you get on.
Thanks. Ian
What’s the bag @12:20? I’m currently searching for a small camera backpack that’ll be good to carry an air 2s along with a mini 3 pro or mini 2 pro
Hello, great video! I was wondering what the name of the app is you downloaded? There are tons of them out there and most are terrible, thanks again!
