I just finished my first non cassettedeck repair, a JVC VT-900 FM stereo tuner. But you are really digging into the 4230...!

The logic in the soldering iron cools it down automatically as it detects you not using it for a specific time. Protects the heating element, circuit and tip. Makes the whole thing last longer and saves some energy. You might wanna read the manual...
Did you make sure the resistor has the same or higher wattage as the burnt one? Usually the smaller they are the lower the wattage they are capable of! You already know that getting rid of heat is a thing.
Fingers crossed for your first recapping project! Thanks for letting us participate!

@@perfectlyoutoforder2840 problem is it shuts off when im using it too, always willing to let you guys participate. Your comment about resistor size made me do a search, the service manual only specifies resistance. Apparently 1/4 watt will suffice. I had to check tho lol it wouldnt take much time to change it again while i have the board out. Thank you!

Iron actually soldering (cools down the tip a bit) = in use
Only sitting there in standby for some time holding temp = not in use
Watch the temp display in your video. Should help understanding.
Yeah, not too late yet for corrections. But there are 75 of them again afterwards 😜

Looking good as usual! I got one request, play it loud for me once it’s finished

Soldering iron has a automatic cooling system meaning if you don't use it it cools itself down to make the heating element last longer
