I'm goad they got the thing on the ground in one piece. It's important to keep competition healthy in the space industry in order to foster continued innovation... A complete loss could have spelled the end of the program. They had many issues, but managed to overcome some very key ones. Rewriting the system software successfully to add autonomy to re-entry while fighting the thruster issues is a win.
@@thomasadams501 They are doing well. Their mission has changed so they are part of the ISS crew now. There was only one time where they were really stuck, that was when the thrusters gave out during docking
Got to wonder the severity of the concussions that anyone inside would get when a craft like that has no landing legs or boosters to slow it down. That has to hurt.
@@carlodave9 no, they weren't. NASA said repeatedly they were extremely confident starliner was able to make a safe reentry and landing. The issue was they didn't fully understand the cause of the problem and based on the data, tests, and simulations, they uncovered a handful of extremely unlikely but possible edge case contingency scenarios where in the event starliner lost one or two of its 4 retros during the reentry burn causing the thrusters to fire full duration to hold attitude, they couldn't be sure they wouldn't overheat and fail again causing the capsule to tumble during the burn possibly causing loss of vehicle and crew. Again, it was an incredibly unlikely scenario and the expectation was always that it would return safe but based on the unexpected failures they had already had, the lack of confidence in understanding the cause of the problem, and the fact that they had a safer option available, they made the decision to put crew safety above all else. After months of drama and suspense, all the horrible press attention, and the extremely shaky reputation Boeing has with the public at this point, if they went through all that decided to put the crew on it anyway and then the worst happened, imagine the absolute disaster that would be for nasa. They 100% made the right call.
Unfortunately, from the beginning to this sad event, Boeing Starliner has been a massive waste of money, time, resources and manpower. It's unbelievable how incompetent Boeing seems compared to Spacex. There are always just tons of failures and excuses why things aren't going as planned. I was really hopeful for the Starliner project for a long time, but now it's just a huge laughing stock!

Boeing you forgot your astronauts.
😊
They made the right decision. If a disaster was to take place it would have an effect on the entire industry.
@@chriswheeler6092 Well, it didn't . . AND NOW the two astronauts are STUCK up there in space on the ISS for another 7 months. 🤔 🫤

thats awesome!
Don don....still looking for el Dorado?
The 3 parachutes are beautiful.
Thanks for the stream last night! What a sight to see when those chutes opened.
The whole thing seemed like art. Beautiful effects.
This was WAY more beautiful than I was expecting. Artsy! Bummed that NASA chickened out on bringing them home on it.
They left the passengers behind.
Wow great. I really followed the story of Starliner
So Boeing got something to hit the ground. Nice.
At least that worked . . .
Thanks for posting these launches and landings
Well done Boeing ! Starliner new version will be back in space soon.
Perhaps, if "soon" means NET about a year from now.
@@UncleKennysPlace You are right.
I honestly hope it's not
😊if starliner fried its electrics, would Boeing tell us? Expect a rosy glow from their report.
Congrats to NASA on a safe return.
That shot from the ISS is awesome!
Looks nice doesn’t it

Well, those capsules are designed with certain systems that help to ease the landing, that said it still hurts a bit😁
Would the 2 astronauts have survived if they were aboard?
That's what I want to know too
We will never know for sure, but since this went exactly as planned, almost certainly yes. No wonder Boeing was yelling at them. NASA was wrong.

Except for returning months later AND without the astronauts... yeah, "well done"...😂
Hope Boeing troubleshoots its issues with Starliner and has another chance to prove the capability of the capsule.

Star liner touched down u didn’t show me full
All I can see is a kitcken light being turned in.
UFO at 7:38
I saw it.
Two actually, one dropping vertically. Drones I guess. Odd flight pattern though
how can there be no stars in space?
They are difficult to see.

Probably cuz spacex runs a super tight ship where people work 90 hours plus weeks. And sleep in the office while Boeing people play golf etc
They have multiple elevated cameras yet when it lands they are far away on on ground. Absolutely disgusting phony!
a costly mistake. those money can be used on something else
