    The contrast between big and small clubs in Portugal is remarkable. It's like a mix of huge clubs and non-league.

      Because many of our clubs of medium dimension got huge crises and got relegated in recent years (Académica Coimbra, Vitória Setúbal, Belenenses, Beira Mar, Estrela da Amadora and Leiria).

    Braga's stadium is one of the world best, I absolutely love it, proper inventive stadium design.

      I agree. I like the views of the natural environment it has, along with the two stands with the cables running across the top.

      It reminds me of the new Monaco training facility up on the side of a cliff in Monte Carlo. Beautiful facility.

      It's incredible but I believe a lot of the Braga fans don't like it and want to move which is interesting. It looks incredible from a distance and seeing it in photos/videos but I suppose aesthetics might not equal a good atmosphere or an enjoyable weekly match going experience for the fans.

    The "national" stadium at Estoril hosted the 1967 European Cup Final, where Celtic beat Inter Milan 2-1 to become the first non-Latin team to win the competition. It's obviously very outdated but it's still iconic.

    • @Yes-Bean
      @Yes-Bean Год назад

      That wasn't in the estoril stadium it was in the national stadium that has almost 40k seats. There's some smaller clubs from lisbon that play there when they play against bigger clubs and it is where cup finals are held

    I love the fact that the Portuguese authorities use the relatively ancient Estadio Nacional for big games like the Portuguese Cup final, eschewing the likes of the more modern stadia on show here. I'm sure Celtic fans feel the same way.

    Porto's and Braga's stadiums are the most beautiful.
    Guimares's stadium elicits some dark memories from Hungarian football fans, because Miklós Fehér of Benfica died here 20 years ago during a match.

    Estadio Da Luz, as an Arsenal fan I wish we painted the roof struts in red and white, rather than just white. I think the Da Luz roof looks way cooler than ours, which looks like a flattened sugary doughnut. Having said that we have those big awesome screens so...
    Lisbon is a really cool and cheap city. You can easily walk it despite the hills. Just don't go during the rainy storm season, the tiled pavements, rain and trainers don't make a great combination. It was a shame we couldn't visit the cities stadiums as they were just a bit too out of the way for us, even with 4 days there.

    Hi! I am from Braga, Portugal. And yes the stadium is unique and amazing, but is very cold in winter because of the big rocks surrounding the stadium, and football ambient is not the best because is open, even tho we sing a lot.. i do prefer Porto stadium althought i am a braga fan

    Have done most of the grounds in and around Lisbon but would love to get to Porto and Braga both on my bucket list. Pity it couldn't have included some of the quirky lower league grounds like the one in the shadow of the christ the redeemer statue across the river in Lisbon.

    Love your videos but you don't seem to talk about floodlight pylons much. Pretty significant part of stadium design in my view. I'd rather have 4 striking towers than lights on the stand roof....

    You have to research more before talking random things. The brazilian language its similar to ours, not the other way around. You know who found brazil, at least? It was the portuguese.
    So after you know this fact you still think its the portuguese talk similar to the brazilian or the other way around?

  • @joaomariareisk8
    @joaomariareisk8 Год назад +2

    I hope you were being ironic when you said “although their language is suspiciously similar to Brazil’s” 😂 Portugal colonized Brazil, hence they speak the same language. So Brazil were the ones who copied 🤣

    8:26 Portugal literally discovered Brazil during the discovery ages. That's why their language is called "Brazilian Portuguese" and not "Brazilian". And this is a good segway to the statement at the beginning of the video. Our contribution to the world goes far beyond just custard tarts. We discovered Brazil, Angola, Mozambique, Cape Verde, São Tomé and Príncipe, Guinea-Bissau, Timor-Leste, etc. We also found the first maritime route to India from Europe. We traded with many countries all over the world, and we even had territories in India and China at one point. And going back to food influence, "tempura" from Japan was inspired by Portuguese food, we introduced tea to England, etc.
