People talk about rematches with Alain or Tobias, but I think the one battle we were truly robbed of during Journeys was Ash going head to head with Lance; the top trainer of Kanto! It just makes the most sense because Ash is Kanto born ya know?
I really liked when Elites got to teach Ash a thing or two. In some writing I've done, I've gotten attached to the idea of Bertha being a mentor + surrogate grandmother to Ash, and helping him push his skills & personal development further. Thanks for the compilation, Prof. Silver!
Marshal would be the best option for Ash to have interacted with if had appeared in the BW series, he would’ve had an impact on his growth as a trainer going through Unova. A Conkeldurr vs Pignite battle would’ve been interesting.
Idea for a video. Trainers who could compete in the next World World Coronation Series/Masters Eight Tournament. Could be a pretty interesting idea to do, plenty of other trainers from the anime who could participate in the next WCS to compete against Ash the next Master Eight.
I got to say this is a really wholesome topic that you chose to focus on! It truly is the story of how an underdog went on to become a world champion! The fact that flint was initially in the masters eight, but wasn’t in it by the time Ash was, prove that beating Drasna was no fluke. I still wish we could’ve seen ash attempt to take on the elite for using Pokémon we believe would be on his ultimate team like Charizard, Sceptile, and snorlax
Just like in real life when you think you know everything there is someone who knows more. Like the OG WRESTLER Rowdy Piper would say: just when you think you have all the answers someone comes and changes the question. Ash got a life lesson from each and every one of the elite 4 members he's met in his life or just about. It's all about strategy not power. Can't wait to see what awaits ash now
Thank you Professor! I loved hearing about the Elite Four. Ever since Pokémon Red Version, Lance has been one of my favorite characters in the franchise. Knowing that he, and the other Elite Four members, helped shaped Ash into a true Pokémon master put a smile on my face. On a side note, I have a suggestion that I believe would make for an engaging and informative video for your audience. Team Rocket's Meowth, with its unique backstory and character development, has always fascinated me, and I think it would be an excellent topic for one of your videos. I'm sure your in-depth analysis and commentary on Meowth would provide a fresh and interesting perspective for Pokémon enthusiasts.
I wonder how Ash's interactions would be like if he met other Elite Four members: Glacia, Phoebe, Sidney, Marshal, Grimsley, Shauntal? Edit: I forgot Siebold, as he only appeared in the first Mega Evolution Special where he defeated Alain and never met Ash.

He also served as challenging Gym Leader. Cyan can quickly adapt and change his battle strategy to fit his needs. He knows how to display the beauty and power of water type Pokemon. Because of this, he was chosen to be the Dragon of Water. Cyan is a gentle, wise, patient and compassionate teacher. His most important lessons are to teach up and coming trainers the importance of facing adversity and overcoming type weaknesses. To Cyan, the key to success is knowing the individual Pokemon's strengths and using them to their advantage. He puts particular emphasis in being able to listen to your Pokemon. The more intune a trainer is with his team, the stronger they will become. He can also gigantamax and terastalize into a dragon type. Cyan's bond with Blastoise is unbreakable and rarely have they ever lost to an opponent, but if they do, they do it with dignity and grace. Cyan's reputation is legendary, but he couldn't have done it without his ace and his team. Anybody else like it? I'd love to find my fellow elite four members. Here's what I imagine their aces would be. Dragon of the North: Garchomp Dragon South: Charizard Dragon of the East: Noizern
this video was awesome man, people understate the impact the elite 4 of the pokemon world has had on our champion. I didnt even realize it till I watched this video
His ultimate success turned out to be a double edge sword because it marked the end of his era. To think there were times where I detested seen him compete in league, after a league, only to fail to win every time and wishing he would win. Just goes to show you should be careful what you wish for, you just might get it.
The E4 should have done more in the anime. We should have actually seen a champion league at some point to really show how powerful they are supposed to be. Lance was dope though
I agree that Caitlin didn’t contribute much to Ash which always bothered me it would’ve been interesting seeing them actually interact and I see why you skipped Alola while Ash did meet the elite four but they had not yet be formed yet and I would’ve liked of Journeys introduced more of the elite four Members he hadn’t meet as they could’ve helped his team like Wikstrom and Drasna did like Phoebe or Shauntal could’ve helped Gengar Mashal could’ve helped Lucario and I wished Drake had helped with Dragonite or Dracovish in his return.
The elite 4 certainly kept Ash in his place when he needed it for sure as each time he was starting to get over confident/arrogant they would show how much further he needed to go still. If he was to battle any of them again flint would be cool and if anyone else Lance given their history. It could even end in a draw instead of winning

It would’ve been cool if Ash battled Lance with Pikachu, Dragonite, and Gengar (cause they all Gen 1). It would’ve been awesome for Pikachu’s 10 million volt thunderbolt gyarados. Plus it would’ve given poor Dragonite one more win (against Lance’s Dragonite, cementing her as the second strongest dragon in the anime, especially after beating Dragapult (behind Cynthia’s Garchomp, of course)).
I wish Ash could've battled all the member's of the Elite 4, & all the champions in Journey's. Back in the OG series, Prima was a good start for Ash. I think Drake was a rough one with Ash.
