Dam Safety Resources
As infrastructure ages, the Kentucky Silver Jackets recognized there was an opportunity to increase knowledge regarding dams & dam safety throughout the Commonwealth. The Kentucky Education for Dam Safety (KEDS) campaign developed an educational program to connect with dam owners, local officials, and first responders. Partners in development of the program included representatives from the Kentucky Silver Jackets, Kentucky Division of Water, Natural Resource Conservation Service, Tennessee Valley Authority, Federal Emergency Management Agency, and U.S. Army Corps of Engineers,. The KEDS program goal is to raise the level of awareness of local officials, dam owners, and first responders about dams and existing resources available, to allow them to make better decisions to reduce risk in their communities.
