- A look into the world of growing apples in the tropics, this time in the beautiful and fertile country of Uganda. Presented by Kuffel Creek Apple Nursery of Uganda's Director John Baptist Lwanga
I miss you father ❤
Wow, loving that theme song, and the demo planting at the government building. Is breeding/seedling planting a part of this project yet? Seems that there'd be a lot of room for improvement in tropical apple varieties
Actually, we're quite happy with the selection we have, which do just fine. A lot of them are Old Southern varieties, but some cold-climate ones do well also. Fuji has been the favourite in Zambia.
@@kuffelcreek What rootstocks do you use?
@@kuffelcreek I bought 3 grafted apple seedlings ,two are doing well but the shoot of one withers each time the sun comes . I think it is dehydration because it recovers with watering but repeats when it gets hot. How do I permanently solve this issue. The other two are just fine come rain ,come shine. My location is Nigeria.
Iam in cameroun. In the nord-cameroun. Very hot area same like tchad republic. And I also have land in littoral region. How to learn grow up this apple if can grow in those two regions??
Nice work's
can i order seedling if i live in Ghana, how much would it cost?
How can I order this varities
Is this apple could possibly grow in Philippines? Thanks
Philippine import requirements prevent us from shipping trees to the Philippines.
I Thought apples needed a chill period To grow properly?
Yeah, we get that a lot; someone forgot to tell the trees though. Tropic apple culture tricks the trees into thinking they're received sufficient chilling hours, and then they blossom and fruit. We ignore the chilling hour rating.
@@kuffelcreek Are their published books or pamphlets on these methods or does one have to come to that farm for training?
@@bobnewhart4318 We have a fantastic book on it at www.kuffelcreek.com/growingtropics.htm
