W3BFO here. My operating conditions were a newly acquired QDX (6W) and 80m EFHW. My base station is up and running 24/7 on 40m or 20m and I often run a /P station while away from the base. Great work as usual Julian! Many Blessings and Stay Dangerous!
Outstanding! It's difficult to comprehend what we can do with such low power.
Absolutely incredible.

Great video Julian. Thank you for continuing your work on your channel. Always educational and very practical!
QRP ain't no joke! Best QRP QSO so far, FL USA to New Zealand on 8w direct on FT-8 (confirmed). I also operate JS8Call as well on a FT-818 (no longer use) and a new Xiegu X6200 (a little quirky). The main drawback I find with JS8Call is that it does not mesh network. You have to know which station to call, which stations can store messages that both endpoints can reliably communicate with and it all has to be planned out rather carefully if it is to function as an asynchronous network. I would love the old Packet BBS functionality with more modern protocols (e.g. Vara). But anyway, Julian-- you do some great stuff. Love the videos!
W4EPS.
Keep the Roll. Need more.
Just getting started & looking forward to this mode
Great stuff, mate! I love how approachable you make this look, and your passion for the practice really shines through. All the best.
Thank you 🙏
love the 705
Julian, I connected directly to your station with JS8 from Montana. I didn't think to send a message to store on your station. 4325 miles
Thanks! I learned some things today.
Super thanks!
Solid
Hi Julian,
I hope you're well.
I've just tested my Powerfilm R60 & GenasunGV-10 with my IC-705 and Eco-Worthy 20Ah... all seems to work well, no sparks or "magic smoke"! 😂
Can you tell me what drone you use ?
I don't know anything about drones, I'm mainly a photographer, but your various shots from above make me think it would be a nice addition to my kit, to keep memories of things like POTA / SOTA...
I'm guessing you'd say "light, tough and easy to charge"... 😂
Anyway, have a great weekend, best regards,
Manny / Essex / England

Outstanding news.
The Drone is a lightweight model, not as tough as I'd like, but easy to charge in the field. It's the DJI Mini 3 Pro package. The standalone controller is excellent, leaving your phone to be a phone.
The copter adds much needed context to a film, a ground based shot can't provide.

@@OH8STN Merci beaucoup! 👍🏻
I have a question if you where to pick a transceiver other than the IC-705 as it is to costly for me Canada to Buy. US to Canada is about 1.41 * so to get
to use the JS8 call for Portable \ emergency would be informative for me. Can you put a wallet friendly system that works well together with what you
have already.
Thanks Michael
Look into QRP LABS
Alot of stations are using the QDX or the newer one “???”
And a laptop & EFHW.
thats my rig currently
So how do I store a message on my own station for you to pick up later?
Right click on the station and select "store message". If the station isn't in your list yet, right click in your station list and select "add station". Enter the x
Callsign and click ok. Now tight click on the station and select "store message". Write your message in the popular, then select ok to store.
@@OH8STN Thanks. I'ma give this a try
What would be a similar "network mode" in VHF?
WINLINK / VARA
JS8Call will work on V/UHF (SSB) as well.
@@OH8STN and for FM, Winlink and Vara are the best options?
Winlink and VaraHF for HF. Winlink and VaraFM for V/UHF. VARAC & VaraHF/VaraFM for kb-to-kb chat
:)
I prefer phone because I’m too lazy to figure out how to do data😂😂😂73
thank you sir for the high quality content 73 kd5feo
