  • Here is Joe Raposo's animated opera (directed by Richard Williams), Raggedy Ann and Andy: A Musical Adventure!
The original record sadly leaves out the "Looney Land Rag," an instrumental piano piece that plays when the dolls first enter Looney Land, but otherwise, everything is here!

HOLY CRAP. I just finished watching this movie and I have to say, it is one of those beautiful animated movies I have ever seen. The story may be simple, but man does the music and THE ANIMATION blow that out of the water. This animation is the best I have seen in an animated movie in FOREVER. If I had to describe this movie, I'd describe it with one word, wonderment. This movie, imo perfectly embodies a childlike wonder. It's a shame that this movie is never talked about often. I'm trying to get more and more people of my generation to rediscover this movie and it's enchantments.

Joe Raposo was one of America's most gifted songwriters, and this is probably his most underrated body of work. There's a lot of innocuous vibrations you can hear in this record that could be purely from the mind of ol' Joe. This is if the Beatles scored the film's musical numbers in their experimental/psychedelic rock era.

Captain: Oh you love her, (thinks for a minute) but I think she is in love with that boy.

I showed this whole film to my best friend Tom yesterday as he had never seen it and he really liked it, he liked the songs no girl's toy, candy hearts and paper flowers and blue, he liked the bit when Camel is walking along the path and there are loads of stars in the sky and the ending, he found the twin pennies annoying and rather scary and he found Topsy rather scary I agree with him about the twin pennies (I find them very annoying and rather scary) I think that this film would have been just as good without them, I did not agree with him about Topsy, I find Topsy rather funny and cute in a way, his only bad critisim is that and that the other toys should have had more of a role, I agree that maybe they should have a bigger role but Ann and Andy are really brave to rescue Babbette.

I was hoping the Camel Mirage wouldn't have dialogue over it; I hoped to see if I could separate the song from the scene/sequence it's part of, and if it would be less creepy that way. (As it is, the mirage scenes still give me nightmares; and I'm in my 30's!)
Even though certain elements of this film (such as the aforementioned ones) are weird and creepy; I love the songs.
The finale of this movies is one of my favorites of all the musicals I've seen.
It's just what I think musical finale should be; the entire good guy cast join together in a reprise.
And it also fulfills how I think an Adventure/Journey musical should end; a back-at-home song. (Even though the homeward "journey" of this film is weird and abrupt.)

Raggedy Ann&Andy is such an underrated movie and way better then Toy Story (which I also love, though TS 3 was mediocre garbage sequel which wasn't needed in the first place). If I'd watch this movie dubbed as a kid I would have probably like it more then TS, however I still liked it even with the language barrier.

Toy story used an overused concept and the characters don't seem very original either.

@@Ugmo3002 Well, you can't deny the fact that they DID steal the concept of toys talking when the children aren't around, which has been done in other movies before Toy story. I AM NOT saying that Toy story is bad, I'm just saying that it's a rip off
