I grew up in the Boston area. I also grew up idolizing those old Packers teams of the 60s even though that was a bit before my time. I feel very grateful to have watched my hometown team (The patriots) turn into a similar dynasty just like these legendary Packers. Both teams will go down in history as two of the best.

I appreciate you finding 62/63. I hope you got 1964.
Even though I know it was a down year, go pack, go

The 1963 Packers missed the World Championship Game for the first time since Vince Lombardi's maiden season of 1959 as head coach, thanks to Paul Hornung
being suspended the entire year due to gambling. Guard Jerry Kramer did the placekicking. Tom Moore and Earl Gros shared the right halfback slot Hornung occupied. The Pack finished 11-3; the Bears did better at 13-1.

      Correction: the Pack was 11-2-1.

It was quarterback Bill Wade who lead the Bears to the two regular season GB loses that prevented their championship three-peat in 1963. Starr threw 4 interceptions in the 1st game that the Bears won 10-3.

@@gingerli5820 Yes, he was an OK QB, but by 1965 he was replaced as a starter by Rudy Bukich, who was two months older. Wade played in two games I think that year. He played in a few more in 1966 as Bukich's passing game went downhill. Against the 49ers in the last game in '66, both played and lost big in SF.

What jumps out almost immediately is the fact that most running backs today are as big or bigger than the linemen were back then.

Not really.GB's running backs in 1963 were Taylor, who was 215lbs,Pitts,at about 205,Tom Moore, about 215,and Earl Gros, who was 6'3"230 lbs.TE Ron Kramer, who was listed at 235lbs,reportedly played the 61' title game at 275 lbs. These guys were always listing their weight as less than it really was.The linemen nowadays basically eat themselves to weigh 300+lbs.Look how much weight they lose when they quit playing and start eating normally.

Interesting that players often did double duty as punters, unlike today when it’s a full time specialty.

Finished 11-2-1 and still didn't make the playoffs. Losing to the Bears twice and having Paul Hornung on suspension that season didn't help.

No Championship this year that was won by the Chicago Bears

I believe the Bears won it this season, did they not? A shame we didn't find out why from this clip, looks like stuff is missing.

Tom Moore was a great replacement for Hornung that year. He was a triple threat type running back who could also block. Went to Vanderbilt
