4 the color is hypershift looks good but i wouldn't put it on my car. However I think that if anyone who likes pink, I'm sure they will definitely go with the color!
I SEE NOTHING WRONG WITH THIS-- this is one of the first ones I desperately want to recreate exactly on my car. I know this isn’t how it’s supposed to be used, but I ADORE the look!!
This color belongs in a music video! Unlike the candy blue over yellow pearl in the next video, I think there is something beautiful about this color on a car. My car? Maybe not. But still it is beautiful.
Love this channel to death. But for future reference, if weather is ever an issue, I for one will patiently wait for a video if it means you guys are safe. Stay safe and have a like.
Freaking Beautiful! As an Industrial Designer- I actually can see this being used on a production car. I would call it Mystic Lavender Dream or Mystic Cotton Candy. Keep Orange Crushing It!
Very nice. Love how there's no shadows on the car. Thats where the white shows through and makes the car look ultra clean. How does it look at night though ? Id imagine the white shows more.
I think the colour is gorgeous! 5/5 for me. Would be interested in seeing what Gabe's choice of interference pearl would have been with the same experiment
It totally works.. because you have stack so many coats it gives the pearl itself a chance to actually be seen for what it is compared to being on top of a base color that will change the color into something completely different.. it looks like the pearl looks in the bag which as we see sometimes is not a bad thing
Wow, for me sometimes the creation of a "mistake" is another person's Joy!! I absolutely freakin love it. Hey man you are struggling through, hope you feel better soon. it's a positive 5 from me.
For as much work as y’all put into that, it’s stunning! SO worth it! Also Good damn that has got to be THE PRETTIEST hypershift pearl to watch get mixed 😂 ✨
Beautiful end result, 5/5. Can't imagine how much of a pain it must have been to get it looking like this, though, especially when you look to be absolutely wiped. Get some rest, feel better soon.
It makes me think of lab created opal, which is what’s in my wife’s engagement ring to go with her wedding band and we both think is beautiful. I’m digging it so this might be a 5 for me even if it is “wrong” lol thanks for the fun vids you and the DYC team always have lined up for us! Every Friday at lunch is a new, usually fun color to discover. 😎
My reaction was the same as yours...at first. I thought "Oh no. This is not going to turn out well." That is one of the most amazing colors I've seen in a while. It's absolutely stunning. 5/5
Oh wow, I really love it. Probably my 2nd favorite of all time. I think you may have uncovered a new frontier to explore. An easy 5 out of 5. I would like to see more of the interference pearls over a white base. The shifts are far more friendly than the traditional approach, and the tones are less aggressive whilst being dynamic. Reminds me of the coloring of the aliens in the film The Abyss. Oh I am excited to see what you can do with this approach. Appreciate your hard work.
5 out of 5. I almost feel like this is a troll. I think it looks amazing. Objectively it looks like it could be a color on an exotic. Other than "failing" what your goal was how else would you get this color and effect? Basically how else could you recreate this look other than how you did it?
I actually absolutely love how it turned out! I would def do my car that color! You don’t seem to do very many feminine colors but I love that one, even though it shouldn’t work!
Definitely a 5. I just found this channel by accident a couple of days ago and have been binge watching old videos. I think even the ooops projects come out fabulous.
I'm going with 4 on this one, and honestly I'd like to see an attempt with a dark blue or green. Actually, I'd like a dark green pearl on white and black base just to see what they'd look like.
Exactly what I was thinking! If I was a purple guy, this would be right up my alley. But make it a blue and I wouldn’t even know how to contain myself.
I know you were feeling sick and this was a struggle, but man was the result worth it! I love how the body of the car seems to glow and pulsate, and just when you thought that was "sick", it hyper shifts and glows? Mind blown :) Keep up the creative spirit gentlemen!
I think the color is quite nice and like other comments state, "definitely a 5 for people who like pastels". But oh man, the second the first spray hit the car I was thinking, "STREAKS, STREAKS, ALL THE STREAKS!" I don't paint cars but I do paint and the streak issue with certain colors is something I've experienced. Nice job evening it out!
I love the videos that try things that, they have 0 idea if its going to work or not. Come out nice or horrible. I still enjoy seeing the end results of both sides. I think it gives a reference to what to do to prevent it or fix it, or make it better somehow. I've never painted a car in my life but it honestly looks like a lot of fun with the end result.
I dig it! It gives it a look like I’m looking at the inside of a shell or something, kinda a pearl look. Maybe you should try more of these pearls over a white base.
I'm coming back to this a year after because after watching all of your transformations from before this video and all of the new ones to this date, this is still my absolute favorite! It's beautiful!
Wowza that's cool! I'm a sucker for purple, and am now wondering what this would look like over a different color base, like purple or blue. That color shift is *really* pretty. I'm not a fan of pastels generally, but I'd put this on my car!
Really doesn't look all that bad. However, my favorite format for the types of videos where you guys are doing stuff where you're not entirely sure of the end result is where you try the color on various speed shapes of different base colors, and then let us vote. I personally think this would have looked super good over a gold base that matched the color in the pearl, dark purple, or black. But still, doesn't look too bad.
5/5 this is absolutely gorgeous, gives me this sort of vaporwave vibe in a way. I don't even have a car, but if I did, I'd love it to be this exact color.
That's pretty incredible. It almost appears to glow. Looking at it from certain angles the effect is almost like looking at a cartoon. It would definitely catch attention.
Congratulations, you made an opalescent unicorn car! 😂🦄 Honestly, even though it was clearly a PITA to do, I think it looks amazing. Definitely a head-turner! 5/5 for me.
LOVE the color omg! Too bad it doesn't work well like you explained, you can kinda see some patchy areas in the video. Oh man, I wish this could be a possible combo because it's stunning!
Just remember, there is always going to be someone who knows more about color than you do. Bro this is awesome. Been telling you for years you need to do paint like this. Working with a white base for interference makes for gorgeous results. I should know, i've been a painter for 20+ years now.
I used to have a white 1997 Integra. I was rear-ended and decided to use the money to repaint it. I chose a similar color to the Mary Kay pink they used on their Cadillacs (probably 2003ish version). This color is almost exactly like my Integra. It's absolutely gorgeous. I miss that color (and car!)
4-aside from practicality of needing so many layers and skill level needed to ensure evenly applied that is gorgeous pastle purple with enough of a shift. As others commented, this is now a "thing" to try with other "wrong" hypershifts on white, blue for sure.
so, I love it AND I liked it when the first coat went down. I think I would have stayed with the lighter color and just let there be a hint of purple over the white. don't know why but I like it. There are some different colors in this though and I think it's beautiful
4.5/5 lovely pastel and may be perfect for Easter season. Hope you are feeling better soon. Wishing you and your family a blessed week, improving health, gentle autumn weather and restful evenings. Peace brother
Geez that is insane! One of your videos just showed up on my line in my home screen and I am a creative but I'm disabled and I don't drive my brother drives me and thus I have very small amount of experience with any car painting basically no experience with car painting. Although I am interested in epoxy and resin so perhaps that's why your video showed up. Either way you totally got me, because it is absolutely incredible to see the way that you guys do this and the Colors oh my God! You people are insane and well this project may have not gone the way you wanted it to it sure did come out good! Blessings and peace all, Sachi
Can I just say this turned out incredible. I was worried at first but when I saw that first coat go on I knew then it would be some lilac color it's freaking awesome
Back in the mid 60's if I remember correctly Chevrolet had a special order color that was a metallic orchid this paint reminds me of that color just updated to a pearl. As another commented the color is very much reminiscent of a white opal. As Bob Ross used to say there are no mistakes but plenty of happy accidents.
it's not something i would get on my car but it's actually a really nice lavender to hot pink hypershift i even seen some solid teal tones shine off a few angles in there. My girl would love this... I'ma give this one a solid 4.7/5!
Well I don't know about anyone else, but I think you & Gabe need to have more disagreements, because that is STUNNING. Reminds me of the unicorn chrome powder I use on my nails. I LOVE IT
Turned out nicer than I expected.. I would love to see A Blue to Black color shift done on the M3. I'm a BMW guy and I love the Carbon Black color, but a blue to Black colorshift would be awesome to see
Better than I was expecting. For something that isn't supposed to work, it looks pretty good. I'd give it a solid 4 and that's only because I'd have rather seen a blue hue over pink on top of the white base.
It's definitely unique and I would like to see more videos like this moving forward in the future granted yes it's a hell of a lot of work but the end result is actually fantastic it's not a normal look for a car and I really like that.
Looks good. I will give it a 4.5. Some times you have to push the boundaries to see for yourself. I understand his point and why he is right but you need credit for going with it and having a good result in the end.
I see coverage issues and spotting here and there, but the color and shift is GORGEOUS. Maybe try matching with a lilac base to help with it being even It almost looks like it's glowing
First...so sorry you are sick. It looks like you got COVID and were struggling with filming this. Take care. Secondly.....that colour is Siiiiiiick! Am I the only one that loves it?! Great video. Get well soon.
The only way to find out if it'll really work or not, is to actually try it. Tis what I like most about these videos... so many color experiments, so worth our time.
Fonzie, I love your videos, and you are definitely the Dipologist Master and I absolutely get why your videos are aimed at the DIY enthusiast, it's just great marketing for your products and it makes perfect sense. That said, I am a 65 year old who lives in a "typical" rural part of SE Arizona. My house has a "carport" which is common here, and at my age and locale, DIY just isn't practical. So what am I building up to? How about taking your show on the road? I know that there are shops around the country where DYC is a big part of their Business Model. You could highlight some of the other DYC shooters around the Country, perhaps even do a kind of "clinic" to help them out, and let those of us on the other end of the Country see what options are available if we can't reasonably do it ourselves. You have been a HUGE Ambassador for the Brand (tech) and it seems this would be a natural progression toward that end.
This color would be a head turner for sure, may not be the result you were originally looking for, so yes Gabe was right, but Fonzie, you pushed it and came up with a really spectacular look, hope you feel better
Thanks for putting in the work to deliver an amazing color! I like it! Love that blue flash in the highlights! A head-turner for sure! it's a 5 for me!
What if you took a very wildly (unevenly) mixed black/white base coat, and then sprayed one of these HyperShifts over it? So that it'll look like it's not just the base colour that's different in places but also the HyperShift?
Love how this turned out and really want it for my car... the amount of work it took to make it nice is kinda scary though... Would love to see more "this shouldn't work" experiments.
Once again guys, another unique colour combo!!! While it took seven coats, I think end result is super. All great things come from what we think are mistakes.
2 because like you said fonsie the white caused the purple to look like the coverage was very inconsistent because the white base is viciously shining through on every curved or angled part of the car but getting subdued and drowned out by the purple on every flat surface because the inerfierence pearl is to aggressive and slightly oversaturated do to too much of it being used per gallon of clear! nice try though!
Man, what a project.. I'm ready for a nap 😅. *Rate this color 1-5 here* ⬇
4 the color is hypershift looks good but i wouldn't put it on my car. However I think that if anyone who likes pink, I'm sure they will definitely go with the color!
Solid 5 amazing colour wow
ez 5
5 🎉
5
you should do more of these that arent supposed to work because this is incredible
I agree
So badass, next time you get sick @Fonzie, please make another video
I agree,it looks awesome! It's a 5
I SEE NOTHING WRONG WITH THIS-- this is one of the first ones I desperately want to recreate exactly on my car. I know this isn’t how it’s supposed to be used, but I ADORE the look!!
I love it, I'm a huge fan of all shades of purple, but that opalescent lilac is something else, it looks otherworldly.
Same same 😌
Mercury Mist topaz (a chemically treated gemstone) is about the closest I can think of in comparison.
GORGEOUS
Freaking Beautiful! As an Industrial Designer- I actually can see this being used on a production car. I would call it Mystic Lavender Dream or Mystic Cotton Candy. Keep Orange Crushing It!
Been wanting something like this on a traditional gray base. Just enough darkness to get the shift to pop without spraying 7 layers.
It's beautiful, definitely a 5 for people who like pastels, but damn, that must have been a trick to get even!
7 layers instead of 2 or 3 🤪
It looks good but from what I gather, it would have been easier to achieve the same look starting with a darker base and adding lighter pearls on top.
Very nice.
Love how there's no shadows on the car.
Thats where the white shows through and makes the car look ultra clean.
How does it look at night though ?
Id imagine the white shows more.
It looks rendered. Hyper real against what feels like a dead an motionless background.
@@Telowin
Agreed.
Just something you don't see every day.

For as much work as y’all put into that, it’s stunning! SO worth it!
Also
Good damn that has got to be THE PRETTIEST hypershift pearl to watch get mixed 😂 ✨
Beautiful end result, 5/5. Can't imagine how much of a pain it must have been to get it looking like this, though, especially when you look to be absolutely wiped. Get some rest, feel better soon.
This is crazy cool. I love seeing new things go down, especially on a white base. I’m not sure it’s for me, but I’m still giving it 4.5/5
4.5/5 id back you up on that rating i like it very much it suits the car
I name thee "unicorn bubblegumalicious" 🤣🤣🤣
Insane results from what isn't "supposed" to work ... LEGENDARY!
It makes me think of lab created opal, which is what’s in my wife’s engagement ring to go with her wedding band and we both think is beautiful. What’s your 1st favorite of all time?
Curious to know as I love this one and am trying to make a final call for my car…
I love tinkering and mixing what you're not supposed to do. Absolutely love these videos. Keep it up.
Definitely digging the end result, I can see a customer base developing for it
5! Didn't expect much when you were applying that first coat, but the video outside amazed me. Absolutely beautiful. One of my favorites, by far.
Definitely a 5. I just found this channel by accident a couple of days ago and have been binge watching old videos. I think even the ooops projects come out fabulous.
I love it. I've been wanting to see more lighter and brighter colors . This is a refreshing change. Thank you, please do more.
That color is amazing DYC should do more colors like that
Can I just say, this is EXACTLY how I thought it was gonna turn out and I'm obsessed!!!!!! I LOVE IT!!!!!! 😭🥰💜💜
I'm going with 4 on this one, and honestly I'd like to see an attempt with a dark blue or green. Actually, I'd like a dark green pearl on white and black base just to see what they'd look like.

This may not have come out as you expected, but it's a literal pearl! Beautiful!
5/5. If that was a mistake, it looks awesom. Like i've said before, even the ones you feel went wrong, they look amazing. P.S. Get well soon man.
I'm coming back to this a year after because after watching all of your transformations from before this video and all of the new ones to this date, this is still my absolute favorite! It's beautiful!

They DID do this over a purple about 5 months before this. Just search ZGP... It was in June.
They did this over purple in July a few months before this one!
This is FREAKING AMAZING🤩 even when you get it “wrong” it’s oh so Right! Okay, now I want exactly that on my car❤
One of my favourite results. I suggest doing more of these mistakes cos' this is a definite win.
As much of a pain as I'm sure this was, I absolutely LOVE this and would definitely use it
Gonna say 5, inadvertent masterpiece, absolutely love it, you should do more of these combinations that shouldn’t work and see what we end up with
Really doesn't look all that bad. However, my favorite format for the types of videos where you guys are doing stuff where you're not entirely sure of the end result is where you try the color on various speed shapes of different base colors, and then let us vote. How durable are these peel off jobs? Do they stay looking nice for quite a while?
same question . . . I bet the answer is _"well, it depends . . "_
Look at older videos. I believe some people get 3-4 years. It does depend, usually on how well it is sprayed.
That's pretty incredible. It almost appears to glow. Looking at it from certain angles the effect is almost like looking at a cartoon. It would definitely catch attention.
So subtle but striking at the same time! Awesome!

4.5/5 lovely pastel and may be perfect for Easter season. Hope you are feeling better soon. Wishing you and your family a blessed week, improving health, gentle autumn weather and restful evenings. Peace brother
Man!!! That's what I'm talking about!!! This is HOT!!! Not a fail in my book! Need to try this with other pearls!!!
To me it looks awesome ... i love how the white underneath lights the colours up. A big thumps up for this project!!
Geez that is insane! One of your videos just showed up on my line in my home screen and I am a creative but I'm disabled and I don't drive my brother drives me and thus I have very small amount of experience with any car painting basically no experience with car painting. Woah that is a stunning color it almost glows ... it looks so radiant
Thia ia so pretty!!! You may not have planned it to come out so well, but it soft, elegant and put together beautifully!!!! 5/5

I'm a BMW guy and I love the Carbon Black color, but a blue to Black colorshift would be awesome to see
5. Looks great. Experimenting is the best part, besides the mixing part. That’s how happy accidents play out.
still waiting for Plum Crazy with Monsoon Color Shift Pearl I think that will come out amazing.
Better than I was expecting. For something that isn't supposed to work, it looks pretty good. I'd give it a solid 4 and that's only because I'd have rather seen a blue hue over pink on top of the white base.
5 ALL DAY!!!! This was a fire combo! just because it didn't do what you thought it was going to do, doesn't mean it isn't a win. I love it!
Joker base purple with a green color shift. My son who has autism adores those colors, and also he uses those colors for a calming therapy.
Turned out beautiful. I think on black the gold and purple would show and look great too with that satin finish ooooh
That is so beautiful! One of my favorite fabled creatures are unicorns and that color has my inner child jumping for joy... LOL
I see coverage issues and spotting here and there, but the color and shift is GORGEOUS. Maybe try matching with a lilac base to help with it being even
It almost looks like it's glowing
"What's the worst that can happen?" ...sounds like the start of every relationship I've been in over the past 10 years lol
First...so sorry you are sick. It looks like you got COVID and were struggling with filming this. Take care. Secondly.....that colour is Siiiiiiick! Am I the only one that loves it?! Great video. Get well soon.
Freaking WOW!!!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️
My two favorite colors came through on this! I would be thrilled to have a car exactly this color!
It looks so unique... I love it .. has a soft glow to it or something...
The only way to find out if it'll really work or not, is to actually try it. Tis what I like most about these videos... so many color experiments, so worth our time.
OMG 😱 It’s ABSOLUTELY GORGEOUS 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
Love the way the car looks. The lilac color looks so cool as it shifts like that
I dig it. Looks kind of day glo because of the white base paint.
Only thing it's missing is some purple and gold flecking.
Definitely a 5. My daughter would love this she’s a purple FANATIC. I’d like to see this done in one of the blue, green and gold shifts.
This is ethereal. Amazing color and the way it shifts.
Love that blueish green hue that comes through on certain angles
Fonzie, I love your videos, and you are definitely the Dipologist Master and I absolutely get why your videos are aimed at the DIY enthusiast, it's just great marketing for your products and it makes perfect sense. That said, I am a 65 year old who lives in a "typical" rural part of SE Arizona. My house has a "carport" which is common here, and at my age and locale, DIY just isn't practical. You have been a HUGE Ambassador for the Brand (tech) and it seems this would be a natural progression toward that end.
maybe my favorite car ever that you have done. I love the purple but, then the shifting colors.... just beautiful!
I really like it. I'm not a huge pink fan, but this is nice. The pink, purple and green are perfect.
I actually like the way this came out as it gives just enough hints of purple thus tricking one to question the true color of the car.
That really works! I think the extra coats makes it pop more and has a silkier look.
This color would be a head turner for sure, may not be the result you were originally looking for, so yes Gabe was right, but Fonzie, you pushed it and came up with a really spectacular look, hope you feel better
Wish i had the money to fly to the US and bring my car to you. thank you for educating me with your channel and changing my perception in dipping.
5! This color is amazing! I wonder if we can dilute it and make it into a very soft pearl shift.
Please get well soon and stay safe with the hurricane. Wow, that’s one heck of a job. No wonder you are exhausted.
You may've been wrong but I love it! Oh man. Over a violet base?? Even sicker. 💜
This is the same as my favorite nail polish. It’s mesmerizing ❤
