Stumbled upon this as a recommendation. I am absolutely delighted! Learning these tools in my journey as a print designer, and this was PERFECT, to the point and so seamless!
This video has my safe me...watch it about 10 time for 6 different plaids project I had to work on.. its easy to follow and understand...thank you very much
thanks to you I have now been able to make a jeans swatch in illustrator.....you have the best way of guiding someone who has not been able to use the updated version in illustrator in 12 years, and it was in German, too. I am very grateful. thank you
Excellent video, helping newbies like myself become professional on illustrator one video at a time. Thank you for taking the time to make this video for us. Liked and subscribed
This just saved me a lot of future frustration and wasted time! I was looking for a very specific plaid pattern that I couldn't find anywhere, so I'm glad to know I can make it myself now relatively easily!
Thanks for the "it's got to be an un-even number" tip. WOW - pretty sure that' saved me HOURS of issues - now to find a way to save that important clue for future!
Outstanding tutorial. I spend a lot of time reviewing tutorials looking for new & better ways to do stuff and this one is hands down packed with creative ways to use Illustrator . I immediately went and repeated the lesson so I could commit it to memory. GREAT Video. thank you.
OMG, this has been the best video ever! It took me less than 20 minutes. I started in Photoshop before U realized you were using Illustrator instead. Thank You!
Thanks. This is Awesome. I had a light green colored flannel shirt back in the day that I loved, and have not been able to find those colors anymore, but now I can create it.
Thank you for this easy-to-follow tutorial! I needed to make a pattern for a project. I'm not yet comfortable/knowledgeable enough with Illustrator's toolsets, and this made the process go smoothly 🙂
Thank you sooo much for this, what a perfect explanation. I had just spent almost two hours on another tutorial which had me ready to pull my hair out.
Thank your for this useful tutorial video, but I have a problem that when fill the triangle with the pattern, the edge didn't match each other. What should I do now, thank you so much!
Thanks! Wow good question and shame on me for not including it in the video. It's been so long I don't know for sure but I like my weaves tiny so most likely it is 1pt by however long you need it to be.
A great tutorial! im a design student and this was very helpful! I have followed the steps exactly, however when i try it as a seamless repeat, the diagonal lines dont meet, why would that be? i used an odd number
Thanks for a very informative video. I do have a question. Is it possible after creating this plaid pattern to have it created as a leaf to be used as a textile print?
Hello I'm very new at designing flannels and plad I just bought a new computer are these program's to do this come pre installed or do I have to download them
Tried this yesterday, wasn't sure how to make it save, and it didn't. Doing this over, I'm seeing that when scaling the final swatch, my version of Illustrator is different and doesn't show the "transform objects so I'm not sure what to choose. Options shows Scale strokes & effects, Objects, Patterns. And then I still don't know how to "save" it as a fill pattern. :( Any help would be a blessing.
One very important task to note is that you have to make the Blend before adjusting the blend steps, otherwise the blend tool does not work. Figured that out the hard way.
I've followed everything step by step. Why do I not see more than one layer? When you do rotate and copy it opens a new layer. Mine does not. How do I fix this please?
Pretty Great Ai info here on make PATTERNS... THX for sharing this, ::: IF have 56 LINES is NOT work - BUT Have 57 LINES it's works , who figure out that ... ;) ...
This was a cool video until you casually mentioned the pathfinder window. I have been painstakingly using the shape builder for years and now I know there's a button to for modifying complex shapes. Oh thank you
the design is called tartan. the fabric is plaid. there's a difference. thread count is completely ignored here. it doesn't follow any of the rules of tartan pattern.
I never said it was a tartan, just a plaid pattern with a twill weave. I only know how to include thread count when working in specialized textile design software, not AI. But I would love to learn more about tartan rules.

That is hard to answer without seeing your file. You can send it to me at Robin@adobeforfashion.com if you would like me to have a look.
This was exactly what I was looking for, thank you so much!!
Love this
amazing video once again! thanks!
Absolutely amazing! I've been following some of your courses on Lynda.com (aka LinkedIn Learning) and learning so much.
Very nice.
What did u hit at the end to remove the blue lines?
you are amazing
Aww shucks
Great tutorial, thank you! :)
Perfect, thank you!
Welcome!
Thanks for a very informative video. I do have a question. Is it possible after creating this plaid pattern to have it created as a leaf to be used as a textile print?
You can fill the leaf but you would have to expand the pattern before you can make a new pattern. In AI you can not make a pattern from a pattern.
@@RobinSchneider ohhh ok thank you very much.
Smooth moves
OMG thank you!! This is so nice!!
Thank you!
I'm your new subscriber from Pakistan
hi. may i know why I cannot drag the pattern into the Swatches?
The first group looks faded compared to the second group. Is it possible to fix this?
Wonderful 😍😍 Thanks!
Hello I'm very new at designing flannels and plad I just bought a new computer are these program's to do this come pre installed or do I have to download them
Adobe is a subscription based software that you need to download from Adobe.com
@@RobinSchneider thank you when I get home I will do that is it fairly easy to use I have been watching your videos to learn as much as I can

Oops, thanks for pointing that out. I'm glad you liked the video.
Wow!

Thank you!!!!
nice
Thank you madam
You’re welcome 😊
I've followed everything step by step. Why do I not see more than one layer? When you do rotate and copy it opens a new layer. Mine does not. How do I fix this please?
I think you are looking for the sub layers. There is a little arrow to the left of the layer thumbnail. Click on it to access the sublayers.
nice ty :)
