    No........., stop giving such good advises to triathletes about their kicking! If they start swimming effectively like real swimmers how are we going to recognize them? 😁😁😁😁 (just kidding! I am so envious of how strong some of those guys are even without using their legs.)

    i have been fascinated by ledeckies 1 beat kick, so i started as a 2 beat kick. i love it. as a triathlete i feel very very fresh with my legs although my swimming pace is awful, but i have started to vibrate my leg. i dont know if thats a correct word but you can see when she does a kick she is still moving here leg very quickly and slightly kind of preparing for the next kick and just like that little by little without any effort i started to do the same after some time. now my pace increased by about 10 seconds just because of that. i really dont know if that is a balance thing or it helps to keep my legs up a little bit more and tense not letting them to drag as much. i dont know if anyone reading the comments especially effortless swimming. but i have a question about my form. i noticed that my right leg drags a lot of water when iam turning to breath (right side). what might be the problems ?

    hi, coach, i can do 1000 meters just by kicking without stopping. In the case where I do 4 beat kicks, I would like to know if the 2 beat kicks are performed on the same right arm?

  • @reeldawg5175

    I noticed most of these swimmers are breathing unilateral every other stroke. I breathe bilateral every third stroke. I’ve been focused on developing a 2 beat kick. Should I change my breathing style or focus on a different kick? (Triathlon distance swimming)

    Katie was swimming lopsided. She only breath to the right. Her dominant leg is her right leg, which only need a smaller kick because she rotate less on that side. After sometime swimming like that you will develop a slight tension on the right leg that help a lot on keeping good position, it works like a bouy and foundation for the left leg to flick.
    This lopsided stroke feels weird while you swim but it is actually a very fast stroke especially when you have only average build and strength.
    In which the body rotates a bit less to allow higher stroke rate. You always recover higher with your dominant arm in this style. Combine that with a strong enter that pulls your body ahead, gain some more length.

    The way she kicks is the way its always felt natural for me to kick. I always thought it was super wrong so i prefered not kicking at all which makes things worst. Good to know that this is a viable option i can work around and builde the rest of my technique around

    How come when i kick using a kick board i don’t move?
    Especially if my head is out of the water.

    • @EffortlessSwimming
      @EffortlessSwimming  4 года назад +2

      Best to use a snorkel so you can keep your head down and improve body position. Most likely that your toes are pointing to the floor instead of behind you. Turn your feet slightly inwards to help with having more flexion

      Initiate Kick from hips and not from knees. Your legs should not bend too much only a little bit. Also point your toes.

    I am strongly convinced triathletes need to devote one third of their total swimming training session to kick for the following reasons 1) wound prevention. Strengthening the inside leg should keep tendinitis away (with the right cycling position) - 2) Kicking improves your running performance. In the short term, your cycling performance might not be as good because of rest issues, in the long term it will actually get better than before as you lose shoulder weight - 3) In race, kicking is essential to overtake a contestant. Conclusion : triathletes MUST diversify their swimming sessions rather just doing arms, as I see it week in week out.

    I've watched a video of Kara Lynn Joyce. She was swimming with paddles and a pull-buoy. For each catch she was bending the knee and then pull and kick together. Of course due to pull-buoy the movement was mostly from the knee. No explanation so this is what I thought to be the case. It really helps me. I am over 50 but learning technical swimming :) I uploaded the video here. ruclips.net/video/gV70P4lzZ_s/видео.html

    Go watch some real competitive swimmer's....at your local club ....if you don't start early as a competitive swimmer ...you can't play catch-up...with technique etc .....as a triathlete starting late ...
