Although he's long gone, I've learned and continue to learn so much from Fr Dubay's talks such as this one. Very illuminating. May God rest his soul! Thanks EWTN!

I was introduced to Fr. Dubay on EWTN. Like a lead ball, I was sunk! Those things I have clutched onto in my life are slowly dissipating and my meager efforts to find a deep relation with God are beginning to bear fruit. Fealing totally unworthy, I have always realized that He has rescued me from the abyss too many times to count. Truly, Fr. Dubay's effort to bring souls closer to Heaven during his life will bear fruit far beyond his lifetime. Thank you very much.

Jesus went "to a deserted place and prayed." Jesus is the best at prayer ever.

    1. 'when you pray go to your private room...' a different interpretation is that the private room where you can find god is not a room with a door or an isolated geographical location but one's heart.
    2. how can you keep your possessions and not cling onto them?! What if you're rich and have a large business that requires most of your time? Can you say you're doing it for god, not for yourself?! I don't think so...
There's not much to interpret here- give up all your possessions means exactly that= zero possessions that would make you worry about [one can keep only those basic necessities of any human being that can be lost or taken away without causing anguish]. Then you really have nothing to tempt you clinging onto and only then you're 'free as a whistle" abandoning yourself to god's will. That's why [true] monks have no possessions.
