Not being biased as an Indian but Tendulkar was d most naturally gifted along with Azhar. De silva can be classified into d same category, so does Anwar... So, the most talented is not the right term

I always felt Azhar was more gifted than Tendulkar - other Indians involved in cricket have said this too. Infact I've heard some people say Kambli was more talented than Tendulkar. In Sri Lanka however there is no debate that Aravinda is the most talented. Between Azhar and De Silva it's very close I just felt De Silva could pick the length against express pace better. So he edges it for me
Class, class and unparalleled class. No man, in my viewing, has played fast bowling with so much assurance and ease. I've seen a lot of Lara and Tendulkar as well, who are great batsmen with tremendous discipline and appetite for runs. However, for pure hand-eye coordination and sheer skill in playing pace, I am yet to see a man better than De Silva.

Although he couldn't scored 10000 test and one day runs, still he is the best. he is exceptional. sangakkara very close. But second to Aravinda's talent,determination, temperament. he is legend.
I am Indian, but I strongly feel that today Indian batsmen should learn from Arvinda how to overcome the fear of playing short-pitched deliveries. He was one of the best batsmen to have played against fast bowlers.

And this very approach secured him a place amongst the greatest batsmen of all-time, even though he didn't average 50 in tests(hey even Martin Crowe and David Gower didn't).
I'm surprised there are not many videos of him here. Sure, that era saw so many talented batsmen at once, but Aravinda had a certain special class in playing genuine pace and in crisis. Of course, too bad his aggression got the better of him a number of times, but later in his career he was much more balanced.
When you see this kind of batting , these players will automatically get segmented into top brass of batting legends .Viv , Lara ,Sachin Aravinda,Sehwag , ,De Villers , Gilchrist , AB De , Hayden ,Santh . Waqar 90 to 95 miles per hour bowler and Wasim was 85 to 95 MPH bowler at their peak. Look at the way ADS faces them .Real class ,the Lions pride is shown in those shots .

Doubt any modern day player could play a shot like at 0.58 secs to wasim. Picked up lenght so early, weight transfer was perfect, power plus timing. Shots like that send out a message to the opposition about the caliber of the batsman.
I would put this in my top 10 ODI innings ever- this bowling attack is lethal but De Silva savaged them. I can't think of any other batsman who could/or did that - possibly Lara thats it.
Lara played some fine knocks against Pakistan which had the Ws. 128 in the Total series in 1992/93 in SA with an attach of Wasim, Waqar, Ata Ur Rehaman and Aaqib Javed. 103 in Perth in 1997 with Wasim, Mohammed Zahid, Saqlain and Mushtaq. 114 in WestIndies in 1993 which had the Ws and Mushtaw Ahmed. Apart from the 100s, he has scored from terrific 80s and 70s against this attack
He is in my book is very close to Vivian Richard's. Even Richard's want all that successful against Akram and waqar , that is understandable that he faced him in his last few mo ths of cricket. But Aravinda never got the recognition he deserved. We hear stories and laurels about tendulkars and Laras . But against quality attack, this man is far better than Tendulkar. Once Garfield' Sobers said it openly in his commentary to Sunny Gavaskar when Tendulkar and Arvinda was batting together for world XI against MCC. I saw the match. There are 3 players who were far more better than Lara and Tendulkar against quality bowling. They are Aravinda, Martin Crowe and Dean Jones. Waqar and Akram had openly admitted it. See scoring runs in tons are important. But more important is against which attack is more important. I have seen Arvinda's hundred against pakistan, has seen Tendulkar's few hundreds , even though being an admirer of indian legend , I dont have any qualms in saying the truth that Aravinda is in a different class. He is a genius. Among the Current Players only AB Devilers is close to him.

When I started learning better cricket, I admired his bottom hand grip and his stance which was set for extreme fast(90 MPH above ) bowlers. This stance and grip helped him to dispatch 90 +mph shortpitched deliveries over the fences easily . The disadvantage in this grip seemed to be a disguised overpitched slower ball would make mistimed shot which can be ended up as a caught and bowled .Its the weakness of the Bottom hand grip and his back foot dominant stance.. If one can master ,Aravindas Stance ,Tendukars foot work ,S Ramesh s defence and along with ABD flexibility, that will help to break Sir Don Bradmens records in the future.

As far as I'm concerned Aravinda de Silva was for Sri Lanka what George Headley was for the West Indies in the 1930's - their first truly great batsmen, up with the best of his time (including Lara and Tendulkar) and really being the main reason why Sri Lankan had become a genuine cricket force by the mid 1990's.

Lara is the greatest batsman I've ever seen talent wise. But I always felt him and Tendulkar were lucky they did not face Pakistan regularly. It's all well and good scoring 90 odd runs against a past his prime Akram and Akthar. But do it against Imran, waqar, saqlain and mushtaq and qadir all in their primes. Sachin was lucky imo

W's were not at their peak. Wasim Akram's Peak was from 1990- 1997. Waqar Younis was in his peak only from 1990 - 1994.

As far as I'm concerned Aravinda de Silva was for Sri Lanka what George Headley was for the West Indies in the 1930's - their first truly great batsmen, up with the best of his time (including Lara and Tendulkar) and really being the main reason why Sri Lankan had become a genuine cricket force by the mid 1990's.

Someone should upload better videos of Arvinda De Silva to me he was the best batsman played during his times of Azhar, Inzy, Sachin, lara etc. coz he arrived most of the time when his team in trouble and played nice innings and won for them. He is my Hero.
Arshad Mohammed Aravinda is my favourite batsman but having said that Lara was better. I'd put Aravinda second but at his peak Lara was just sublime
Lara is the greatest batsman I've ever seen talent wise. But I always felt him and Tendulkar were lucky they did not face Pakistan regularly. It's all well and good scoring 90 odd runs against a past his prime Akram and Akthar. But do it against Imran, waqar, saqlain and mushtaq and qadir all in their primes. Sachin was lucky imo
Playing against the likes of Washim akram and Waqar Yunus is not an easy task. But Aravinda de silva made it look so easy. He was a class act
