  • This is a short detailed video showing how the accelerator pedal on a 1975 Mercedes R107 and W123 fits together and also how it can be attached to the front footwell using 3M panel bond. The accelerator pedal and bracket often rust away and are repaired (eg bodged) in a variety of different methods over the years. At the end of the video we give the part numbers and costs for the bracket pedal and clip.

When I begin exploring what is under my footwell insulation, this video will certainly come in handy! Your videos certainly have emboldened this non-mechanic to venture outside my former comfort zone.

Great video. I would like to see a video on the throttle pivot bushing on the firewall on the W123. I have a 1981 Mercedes 240d with a 4 speed manual transmission and the bushing is wearing out. The problem is finding the replacement parts.

Thanks for your comment. The secret to finding the right parts, is knowing the part number. Often these parts are still available from Mercedes. In the first instance, go to the link below and find the correct model of your car:
      mb-teilekatalog.info/?lang=E&mode=BM&class=1&aggtyp=&markt=AG&mmod=240
I no expert on the 240, but then you probably want to click on pedal assembly which will give you a picture like the one shown below (depending on the exact year and model)
      mb-teilekatalog.info/view_SubGroupAction.php?lang=E&mode=BM&class=1&aggtyp=FG&catalog=001&model=115105&group=29&subgrp=001
Theres an early video on my channel on the accelerator pedal bushings...albeit for the R107:

      KInd regards,

Just wanted to mention that those two black sliders around the AC/heater controls might be the same as W116. They are pretty cheap and easy to find in junkyards. I sent a Facebook link of a person in Ireland who might have the parts you need but seems that RUclips doesn't like the links. Thanks for the great videos.

Mike, firstly THANK YOU for all your videos. You are a life saver for R107 owners. I acquired a 1982 280SL (I'm in the USA) grey market car, and she had been neglected. Thanks to your video guidance I have been giving her lots of TLC. I have a question on the accelerator mounting bracket A1076160120. I have searched everywhere and can't find one (Mercedes Benz has it as no longer available). Would you happen to know the dimensions? Especially the angle, I think I will have to make my own. THANK YOU AGAIN! Cheers, ED F

Hi - the accelerator bracket is still available from Mercedes here is the UK/Germany - that is where got mine from. I can send you one if you are struggling to get one in the USA. The SL Shop will also send you one:

I'm off to Australia till 20th Jan so wouldn't be able to do anything till after that date. Ping me your address if you want me to send you one when I get back. m_scott65@hotmail.com

THANK YOU!! I will reach out to theslshop tomorrow. For now, I drew up a temporary floating pedal to mount on the accelerator shaft and 3D Printed it (still printing overnight) if it works, I will upload it to THINGIVERSE, send you the link and the file in case any of your viewers can use it in a pinch. I will keep you posted on my luck with the SLShop and how I resolve this. Once again Mike, Thank you so much for your great videos. You can't imagine how many times you have saved me. @@MikesMercsandothercars

Thanks for your kind comments. It is probably an obvious thing to say but.....if you 3d print the bracket, it will presumably be made out of plastic. Every time you move the accelerator pedal you will be moving metal on plastic which eventually could lead to a failure. Just a thought. Mike@@evfernandez

Thx for your video! Interesting at each time… you are the « Glu King »! You Glu everything… that’s amazing… Are you sure it last in time as well as welding?

Thanks for your comment. These days most modern cars use panel bond rather than welding. It lasts longer and is less prone to rust. Having said that,, I would prefer welding in certain circumstances. Mike

Where did you get the metal tab and what’s the part number? I have found the clip and the pedal but no luck on that metal tab!

    • @MikesMercsandothercars
      @MikesMercsandothercars  2 года назад

Hi - do you mean the bracket to which the pedal is attached? All part numbers and prices are generally given at the end of each video (see 13minutes) . The bracket came from Mercedes in Bristol (107 616 0120) and cost £20+vat from memory. Always worth checking Mercedes prices first because some prices elsewhere are actually more expensive. Mike

@@montezp1285 Hello - yes have often seen a situation where the front bonnet on a 107 SL doesn't open. I will eventually get round to this part of the car in the current restoration of the red 280SL BUT meanwhile...
The bonnet release handle operates a cable which pulls back a hook. A spring loaded button then pushes the hood up. The hood can get stuck if this cable snaps OR if it is no longer adjusted propertly and slightly corroded.
Lie on your back with your head under the number plate and feet pointing forwards away from the car.
Use a set of mole grips to lock onto the back of the bonnet release hook and pull it down towards the ground. The bonnet should pop up.
Drop me an email to m_scott65@hotmail.com with your contact number and I can try and sent you a picture or short video if you get stuck. Mike
