but what if japan and america don't really understand what gender is? I don't feel comfortable with how either cultures chooses to interpret either gender

You shouldn't force non-Americans to have an understanding of what gender is when they have their own version of gender is. while there are a good amount of anime/manga that have good stories or characters that are trans. alot of the time its used as comedy and shouldn't be seen as "oh look they are in the closet"

I don't care what non-Americans think because their laws don't effect me.

@@Trixiethegoldenwitch The laws isnt what im talking about its the cultural impact. You literally made a living about looking at the cultural details about anime and to an extent Japan and you don’t know this? There are differences between how things are viewed and what might be viewed as normal in America isn't normal or viewed in the same way as over there

Are you saying it’s a bad idea to influence people to live better? Very weird take

@@Trixiethegoldenwitch Japan is already accepting of gay and trans people, much more compared to other Asian countries like China. There is no "they need to live better".
Imposing an Americanized ideal somewhere else doesn't work out and to ignore cultural differences, even if it has little to no harm, in how they view something is cringe.
