- When an entire residential road lost power and an eight-foot sinkhole opened up in the street, the north London council of Hackney could no longer turn a blind eye to the rumours surrounding the ‘mole man' house-a property owned by notorious amateur tunneller William Lyttle.

There is a lot of houses in brazil that is Just like her's... but its because we dont have money to finish
🤣🤣 same in Jamaica
@@chippies121 rich people stole even our poor design home ideas... thats sad Hahahah
@@lauraguedes1525 so true 🤣
hahahha.. cultural appropriation 😂
You’re hilarious
"A place no-one wanted to touch, obviously" - apart from several busloads of property developers.
This woman is so Shoreditch/Hackney it's unreal.....
Nice gaff if you're lucky enough to have a spare million lying around.
I absolutely love the backstory of this home and this courageous woman! The home is lovely, from what I could see, and so unassuming from the street view.
"Being born an artist is like having a burden on your back; it's always chasing you, it consumes you, and you're never satisfied."
So true.
Bollox ! It's a blessing to have something that holds your interest ,even if it is a hard process sometimes
@Travis Rabble Only a burden of privilege if you're someone like Stella McCartney, others have to fight their way to the top and live in places like this not really by their own choice.
EVERY ONE IS AN ARTIST AS WE ALL CREATE
HOWEVER
SOME CREATERS ONLY SEE ART THAT ENDS IN THEIR OWN REFLECTION.
@Travis Rabble Nah not always true. The curse of my one friend sadly her family has never been well off and she had to pay for all of her school. She had one more year but decided to take a break and work to save money but now she has gotten in a cycle of the school not giving her full financial aid since she is working and would be considered part time. So she is pretty sure she will never be able to finish her last year and get the degree. She is photographer but the work she does if very not main stream, she hates wedding, landscape, basic and boring photography would sooner make her want to die. So she is cursed with the love of the weird in photography and would never be satisfied at any corporate company since she thinks so abstractly. She has no privilege, but due to the way she thinks of the world she feels trapped. Being a artist with no money and a niche interest is a curse
I'd love to have her burden of a couple of million pounds for the house and the works by a snazzy high profile architect... Such a drag.
I remember when the Moleman house making it into the international news years ago. I wondered what had happened to it. Great video
Take it easy with the background music, one can barely hear what she says
At 3:00 GREAT shot of the cat going down the stairs
Aww, the beauty in what people feared. Can you imagine how driven Mole man was? She has given new life .
Awesome house! I remember seeing a news story about this house about 7-10 years ago and thought it was hilarious what 'the mole man' had been doing for so many years!
Its really amazing how the house has ended up thanks to Sue Webster and her architect!!
Well done for preserving such an unusual house and actually making it a work of art!
Really really beautiful!!
This House was so lucky to have this woman🥰
the music in this... wow
So annoying that she's talking over it. s/
@@marquamfurniture if she wasn't there you would not have heard this music.
Who is playing? Who is this please?
the music is too loud
@@Ka-ly8oi same with me, too loud and annoying
This is a masterpiece. The house. The cinematography. The vision 👌
Fresh take on this series. Love it!
A man who built a house with whatever he could find with little money. A woman who restored it with lots of money.
Moral, it takes money to buy what was made with no money.
…. Well yeah, the house was in danger of collapsing, they thought the road would collapse… it was expensive to fix.
No one wants it? Such BS, Except it cost £1.1 million 😂
Leave it to a real artist to see “the good bones.” Great fit, seems to work well.
58 dislikes fron latin america unfinish house.
New In Residence! love it
Wow that's interesting!
I live in Hackney and knew about the Mole Man but I didn't know what had happened to the house - love the way it's been revamped.
Inspiring stirring my dull roots with spring rain... mmn, artists are never ever satisfied, its what I have forgotten about me, thanks Sue, love the house.
Include the music, please?
A clear example that the harmony of a place is the human being, raw walls, unfinished spaces, exposed concrete, rusty old paint, and yet put together, it agrees beautifully with art, with the cosmovision of its owner, furniture with timeless design, adequate lighting, serene vegetation ... a space that, starting from conflict and decadence, embraces creativity.
the music is incredible! can anyone recommend songs very similar to this?
thought so too..i just started looking around for more
Harold Budd "Balthus Bemused by Color"; Benoît Pioulard "Moss Detail", "Ruth"; Brian Eno "Light Paintings"; Brian Eno/Harold Budd "Wind in Lonely Fences"; Daevid Allen "Euterpe Gratitude Piece"; Oneohtrix Point Never "Woe Is The Transgression II" are all good branching off points, but the music used in this video is Daniel Lanois-ish, especially if you're into the guitariness aspect, of which "Asylum" from Slingblade OST and "Signals" from the Apollo OST he did with Brian Eno, are good recommendations.
Last, but certainly not least (in fact the greatest) is Daniel Lanois, Harold Budd, and Brian Eno's album The Pearl. All these recommendations and further exploration of the artists will lead you to the vibe that you resonated with in this clip.
all great stuff..big eno/budd fan...music credits at end of video show Oscar Robertson
Dave Bardon..."sunglasses for jaws"..check it out..pretty funky
The soundtrack to Dead Man is similar and I think you'd like it.
excellent soundtrack..
Inspired
I lived in lower Clapton at the time when he was digging and the story about him was he was a Polish refugee who hid from the Nazis in cellars and they tunnelled from house to house, it must have triggered something in his head and he just kept tunnelling to feel safe and he just enjoyed doing it,
as for the sign. . . "HELLO BOYS" at this time there were loads of squats and derelict houses in Hackney and Clapton so it didn't stand out too much, corrugated iron sheets were more common than flowers in front of houses then, we squatted for years and loads of people did around us,
Too cool. Sue Webster - YOU. ROCK.
Was the Sliding glass roof produce by Meia, sliding roofs?
THE CAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Captioning says "Seizing the Van Cheese" for Siouxsie and the Banshees ;-)
Great video, story and music but less volume on the music please. Took over from the dialogue. When will people Lea run. Couldn’t finish the video.
I would love to have one like thi
Name of the. Music ?
It's so raw. The whole thing is just a masterpiece
I got bad news for her, all art is derivative.
She must have a lot of time and money to be able to afford being so pretentious.
Anyone else notice the Danny Fox painting at 2:54?
INCREDIBLE renovation. Dream house.
she is awesome! i love her spirit :-)
This house are so COOOOL!!!! and cult.
What she does for living?
She is an artist
She needs a garden and plants inside the house.
Sue Webster is fab with a capital F!!!
That house is perfect
Creativity has no boundaries and you Went far beyond
Brilliant.
Interesting history, interesting lady( Artist).
That's a really nice looking house
I love the corrugated render. Brilliant job all round.
I am so curious about how this cool story is captured, what lens and camera. I will dive into Emile his work!
Music too loud over her voice !
Good sounds & cool residence.
I love her, she's great.
I don't understand why she talk a loooooooooot I only want to watch the f... house.
I like the house a lot.The rawness and honesty of the texture paired with glass and minimalist approach was really cool. We can only comment on this house but definitely not judge. Every house is unique. User shapes his habitat.
Oh my gosh, I remember the news about the Mole man. Yes, it's a true story. We used to live in the north too.
I love the way she restored as much as possible what he had created.
I like the lights
Anyone know what the soundtrack is?
insufferably pretentious and self involved.
No1More1Mr1Nice1Guy1 agreed, wish more people could see this. The ‘investigation of my life’ wall was the final straw for me 😂😂😂
How about the Leave No Trace sign amongst the masses of horrible "art".... that will be... left.
Well it is her house 🤔 but yeah pretentious is fair.
Intolerable, she was.i loathe people like her.
Creativity has no boundaries and you and far beyond
The mole man 😂😂 love that story
This woman has a lot of spare time.
Has she changed 3 times?
Nice restoration / rejuvenation
I would love to live with this person in that building and drive each other crazier. I have 2 moles, if that is of any help.
i like the house
Rip MoleMan. What a legend
What a work of art! i also like the guitar sound in the background it fits perfectly wow!
Great house, great person
Better her than me
I'm so glad I opened this . Our house is almost just like that - unfinished. Got some inspiration from this!
anyone knows what those speakers are?
Fantastic!
I think I might have a deep, deep love for this woman.
Here's to the moleman
Anyone: Nobody wants this old broken down-
Sue Webster: 👋
I love this lady!
I liked the music too. What is it?
Who's playing this music?? Someone please tell me.
Sounds like Neil Young’s music for the Dead Man soundtrack.
probably my fav in Residence (besides xavier corberos)
It's a feature not a bug
very strong character in this house.
OH how love this house ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
It would have been rather nice to retain the Moleman's tunnels and stabilise them structurally so that the traffic didn't disappear into a sinkhole, but I fully understand the council's decision to fill them with concrete for safety reasons.
I lived here in 1977
Love love love these videos. Did I mention I love the In Residence videos?
What? What? I CAN'T HEAR YOU!
Sorry to ruin a good story but the rerouting of the 76 bus was nothing to do with the Moleman's exploits. The real reason is because due to traffic manipulation measures they shut the road at one end thus cutting off the route. A bit more humdrum I know but true.
Artists have generally no fear and a burden born with , to produce . Perfect place for S W then! If I did it , it would just fall down 😀
Music???
audio is too loud
Brilliant Sue , I can totally relate to you in every way 💡
😍
DEFINITIVAMENTE, mi episodio favorito.
"Everything I've ever learned in life is from listening to the first four albums of Siouxie and the Banshees."
Has anyone here seen those 'Wankers' videos starring Diane Morgan?
Love the history of the he house, what she has done with it, and her !!
Scary. Ugh.
lovely
